Phew! I still feel a little lightheaded after racing my way through the Amazon jungle with Ellie and Ryan. If the bad guys don't get them, the creepy crawlies just might! I'm still scratching phantom mosquito bites!
I just love the exotic locales Lisa Harris sets her stories in.They really amp up the suspense and enhance the romance. Both of which are over the top in No Place to Hide (aptly titled by the way, because there really isn't any place to hide.) So Ryan and Ellie find themselves making a stand for justice. Instead of fleeing evil, they face it head on.
Harris sets a relentless pace of action, danger and betrayal. Then she teases her readers with tender romantic interludes that promise a happily ever after is in store for this hero and heroine...if they can make it out of the jungle alive! It's all completely spellbinding and not to be missed if you're a romantic suspense fan!
No Place To Hide by Lisa Harris is a suspense novel that puts you in the jungles of the Amazon.
This was a page turner with persistent villains. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and it did— several times! Ellie Webb is a witness to a murder. She is on the run in Brazil, trying to get evidence on the man who killed her father. Ryan Kendall, her childhood friend, is a former Navy diver. His father has sent him to find Ellie and bring her safely back to the States. But many things intervene. Will they make it back to U.S. soil and what awaits them there? Who can they trust? Together, Ellie and Ryan try to encourage eachother in their faith. “Bad things happen, and sometimes we can’t stop them.” “And sometimes.”he said, catching her gaze, “it strengthens your faith when you realize you have no strength of your own.”
If you want to take an exciting journey to Rio and the Amazon jungle, pick up this book!

A lovely and edge-of-your-seat suspense set in Brazil. I really enjoyed the fast pace and the stakes in this one and wish there were more stories set in the Amazon; I always enjoy them.
Are you ready for an intensive and wild tour through the beautiful yet dangerous Amazon rainforest? In No Place to Hide, author Lisa Harris takes readers on a ride they won’t soon forget.
With intense action and no way to know who to trust, Ellie and Ryan must rely on each other to survive pirates, bullet ants, piranhas, explosions, and more.
While exploring the wildlife, plants, and human dangers that exist in this sprawling South American rainforest, Harris also touches on something that often crosses my mind when reading romantic suspense. Is it only the high emotions and danger that draw two people together?
Books like this are why Lisa Harris remains one of my go-to authors for a quality, can’t-put-it-down read in this genre.

What an adrenaline-packed book! Lisa Harris really knows how to write a book that can’t be put down. From page one, the heroine Ellie is on the run and so many twists and turns in the plot have her running til the very end. Anyone who enjoys a fast-paced contemporary suspense novel with an inspirational thread will love this book.
Ellie is a strong, determined, yet tender-hearted artist who has witnessed her father’s murder and is on the run. The government has tried to fake her death and funeral so that she can be kept hidden but those who were involved in her father’s murder is determined to find her. Ryan is a childhood acquaintance, the son of Ellie’s deceased father’s close friend, who is sent by his father to bring Ellie home and protect her. Ryan is the stereotypical strong, resourceful, protective hero but what is not stereotypical about his character is that he is an ex-Navy diver, not a macho SEAL or combat warrior. Sure, he can fight but his expertise is not in combat and his indecision in battle strategy and combat actually made him more real and endearing. Their romance is tender and their friendship as they reconnect is sweet.
Lisa Harris is one of my favorite Love Inspired Suspense authors and every single one of her books is a fun journey!
I received a copy of the book from the author/publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
This book is listed as a suspense novel but it also has adventure with a capital A! From the very first page readers are given an exciting tale that begins in Brazil and continues into the Amazon jungle. Ellie Webb is running for her life and Ryan Kendall's efforts to protect her puts him in jeopardy also! The dangers lurking in the Amazon are matched by the deadly threats from the members of the drug cartel determined to keep Ellie from testifying against their powerful and terrifying leader. Time after time, capture after capture, there is the question "Can they escape"?
Author Lisa Harris has written a story that left me yearning to learn the fate of Ellie & Ryan. There is mystery, intrigue, and deception and the suggestion that no one is above suspicion. There is, however, the main characters's certainty that every obstacle can be met with the help of God. Both of them believed in Him and the power of prayer and their faith is evident throughout the story. I especially liked a conversation that Ellie and Ryan had as they shared their experiences in the loss of her father and his fiancee. "Bad things happen, and sometimes we can't stop them." "And sometimes" he said, catching her gaze, "it strengthens your faith when you realize you have no strength of your own."
No Place To Hide is a great read and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian suspense fiction.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but I volunteerily chose to write this review. These thoughts are my own.
A very good suspense/romance novel. I enjoyed the story of Ellie and Ryan getting to know each other, too. Wow, can you imagine being in the Amazon and being chased and hunted down by members of a cartel or gang? These bad guys would stop at nothing to kill you. Praise God for helping Ellie, Ryan and friends. Lisa Harris has visited the Amazon for a family vacation so she can write about this area with experience - not by threats to her life, though.
A wild ride...and run...oh, and swim...through Brazil!
Ellie found her father murdered.
And she saw the shooter.
Now she’s in hiding. She’s chosen a slum area in Rio de Janerio to hide out. And she has an appointment with a doctor who is willing to help with evidence against the bad guys.
Only now the bad guys have found her.
And Ellie is mad. She is going to uncover the truth, so that the truth can set her free. She is not going to be stopped.
However, the trail to the truth is fraught with danger.
I have read and really enjoyed two others in Lisa’s Danger Abroad series, Deadly Safari and Desert Secrets. This latest release though is my favourite, probably because I connected with Ellie over her near drowning as a child, and subsequent wariness of water. (Fortunately for both of us, we had someone nearby to come to our rescue!)
I love how Lisa Harris brings the world to live around her with her words so that when I read her stories I feel as though I am right there in the middle of the action – in this case travelling through the Amazon jungle and river either escaping or trying to escape from “the bad guys”. I could completely relate to Ellie’s fear of staying on the raft with the kidnappers, or jump into the river to escape when she can see eyes of a caiman nearby! (Yes, I would make the same decision she did, but I’m pretty sure I’d have that same moment’s hesitation!)
Another thing I really appreciate about a Lisa Harris story, be it a Love Inspired or her longer novels, the romance is always a slow build, it’s very much a secondary part to the story, and the sensuality level is always low. With others Christian authors venturing into more “edgy” fiction, Lisa Harris remains a breath of fresh air.
Danger Abroad
All books in the "Danger Abroad" series stand alone, so you don't need to have read previous books before reading this one.
*My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are completely my own.*
Lisa Harris' newest Love Inspired Suspense does not disappoint. No Place to Hide grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept it until the very end. Afraid her location has been compromised, Ryan Kendall is sent into the Brazil by his father with one task and that is to get Ellie Webb home alive. Ellie has been in hiding in Brazil after she witnessed her father's murder by a notorious cartel leader. The story was full of action in the Amazon as the reader is drawn into the story to find out if Ellie and Ryan will make it home safely. You never really knew in the story who could be trusted because some characters will end up surprising you. What I enjoyed about the book was that not only did it keep my interest to find out what would happen to Ellie and Ryan, but also to learn more about them as their characters developed. There was the external struggle as Ellie and Ryan fought to survive, but the reader also gets to see Ryan and Ellie wrestle with their feelings for each other while dealing with heartache in their own pasts. I would definitely recommend that anyone who loves romantic suspense novels to give this one a try.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review
This is an exciting novel of suspense! Ellie is in hiding, after witnessing her father's murder. Now they're after her, and she is forced to run, in the middle of the Amazon rain forest. With her old friend Ryan by her side, they are desperately trying to rescue a missing doctor and make their escape. Full of excitement, action, and intrigue, this is a great suspense-filled story!

Action on every page, the heroine is hiding in Brazil after someone from the drug cartel killed her father. The Hero has been sent to Brazil to bring the heroine back to the U.S. to help keep her safe. But oh! No the heroine want to go out into the rainforest looking for evidence against the cartel. The heroine was a real pain, after they both were kidnapped by men working for the cartel, then pirates and escaping she still wasn't ready to fly home. I would have been on the first thing heading to the U.S. 😅😅. The real danger was not where she thought it was. It really surprised me. Wonderful story kudos to the author.
No Place to Hide is filled with heart-stopping adventure! Your adrenaline will be running high as you experience the incredible story of of compromised witness Ellie Webb and the unlikely man who comes to her rescue, old friend Ryan Kendall. His father sends him to extract Ellie. Simple right? All he has to do is pick her up and put her in a plane with him. Simple BEFORE he realizes that she’s running for her life; she’s slightly (okay seriously) headstrong about doing things her way; she has a plan but there’s absolutely no possible way they can carry it out; she’s a lot more beautiful than he remembered her being when they were teenagers; she’s in this thing way over her head; he promised his father he’d protect her; he does have some skills. However, neither of them can fathom what they will face in the coming days! Their survival skills will be tested, their friendship will be tested and their faith will be tested and renewed. They will stare death in the face on multiple occasions and from multiple sources. Will they accomplish their mission? Will it bring the two of them closer together or tear them apart? Will justice ever be served? I was provided an an ARC of this book by the Publisher. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence. I have preordered this book for my own personal library.
I cannot picture myself in a city in Brazil, much less in the Amazon. Obviously, Ellie is cut from different cloth. Rather than make a hasty retreat to the United States when Ryan shows up to assist her, she chooses to fly into the Amazon. Knowing that someone wants her dead, what would cause her to keep running toward danger rather than seeking safety? Most of us know some stubborn men and women. Ellie is stubborn, determined, loyal, and strong-willed. She also has an abundance of faith in God. Although Ryan is almost her polar opposite in some respects, he has some of her same characteristics. Actually they seem to make a good team as they head to the Amazon to try to get the evidence that will stop her father’s killer. Even if they secure the evidence, will they ever get out alive? Did you ever read a book and wonder when the snakes, spiders, or carnivorous animals were going to suddenly appear? You must read this book to see what perils lay ahead for them as they go from one life-threatening situation to another. The story moves very quickly with suspense on almost every page. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I always enjoy Lisa's books. I enjoyed Ellie and Ryan's story. She does an excellent job at showing how Ellie is having a hard time with the loss of her father and the situation she is thrown into. Then Ryan is sent to bring her home and he is dealing with loss as well but at different a stage than Lisa. But what makes the story is the way they pull together to deal with the hand they are dealt. I like the way Lisa keeps throwing them into a problem then they have to figure their way out of it. It keeps you turning the page to see what is going to happen next. She makes the story run smoothly with new twists at every turn with a good ending that fits the story.
When the back cover mentioned Ellie and Ryan having to run for their lives and try to survive the Amazon jungle, I guess I was thinking they'd like get lost or something and there'd actually be more survival stuff going on, but no. Overall this suspense was just not suspenseful. I was bored and didn't really care when they kept getting caught by the bad guys. I just skipped to the end and for the record, without giving a spoiler, I guessed one of the bad guys from the moment the person was introduced, so I was kinda proud, but maybe it was kinda obvious cuz it was so suspicious.
Another great read by Lisa Harris. Ellie has been running since the night her father was murdered. She is in Brazil when she receives a call to run, that she has been found. Ryan was sent to Brazil by his father to bring Ellie home. Ellie insists she has to go to the Amazon to meet a doctor who has information that will convict the cartel leader who killed her father. Ryan and Ellie are kidnapped but manage to escape. This story had me flipping the pages faster and faster to the ending. Thank you Lisa Harris for the privilege of reading and reviewing this book.
When Elle witnesses her father's death by a cartel member, she is forced to go into hiding. She chooses Brazil for the purpose of finding the cartel leader who put the hit on her father. But then her aunt calls to warn her that the cartel knows where she is & they've put a bounty on her. Old friend Ryan rescues her in the marketplace, but she is determined to meet up with a doctor in the Amazon who had evidence against the cartel. Kidnapping, hiding, kidnapping, escape happens. It's an exciting read, typical of Lisa Harris.
Ryan and Ellie had known each other for many years, so who better to go try and find her than Ryan. Did his father send him just to find her and bring her home or was he hoping they could rekindle the feelings they had for each other as teenagers? Read this book and find out how God helps them both learn to depend upon Him when there is no other way out. A trip to the Amazon was needed to do this with an adventure of cat and mouse.
Lisa dives you right into the story. Once I picked up the book, it was so hard to put down. It had me tense that I had to keep reading and once you thought the story was done - Nope! there was a curveball. I don't want to spoil the story. This is a Love Inspired book but the romance is light. The suspense is the main part of the story.
Another great read from Lisa Harris! I loved Ellie and Ryan’s story, Not only do they have to deal with a cartel after their blood but also the dangers of the Amazon.. The story has adventure and just enough romance to draw the story together. I only wish Ellie and Ryan’s joint backstory was more developed.
While you are reading this thrilling romantic suspense from one of my favorite authors you will find yourself surprised by the twists and turns....and looking around you for snakes and bullet ants....
I received a copy of No Place to Hide for free to read and review. I enjoy Lisa Harris's work, and this book is a real page turner. The suspense starts at the very beginning and continues to the very end. I'd recommend it (especially if you already like the Love Inspired Suspense titles).
A very good romantic Christian adventure in which Ellie's flees into the Amazon to hide from the drug cartel leader whom she had witnessed murdering her father. Well written with good descriptions of the jungle, good characterizations, and plot twist (which I saw coming). Enjoyed it a lot.
I like this author’s other writings; this one I didn’t. Only thing I liked was a factoid on the size of Brazil .... Is it time for me to give up on LIS romances? Probably.
Nonstop action and adventure through the Amazon kept my heart rate up! Romance and mystery kept me engaged on a rollercoaster ride of suspense! Loved it. Wish it was a full length novel...so good!
No Place to Hide by Lisa Harris is a Love Inspired Suspense book and it definitely lives up to the suspense label! A quick read, it is riveting, edge-of-the-seat action that starts in the first pages and doesn’t let up until the last page is turned. After her father’s murder, Ellie is hiding from the drug cartel in Brazil, when she gets a call telling her to run. She’s been found. Ryan has been sent to bring her safely home but Ellie has other priorities. The adventure begins. The book with its breath-holding scenes gets the adrenaline flowing and yet there are poignant situations that touch the heart as well. The author has written a plot that crackles with energy and tells an entertaining and suspenseful story. And she is very good about who the ‘leak’ in the investigation into the cartel is. Keeps you guessing right to the end. Through all the action and drama, a thread of faith in a God who cares is woven into the story, reminding readers that God can be relied on for strength and wisdom in times of stress. I can't wait to read more of this author's books. I received a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
