Billionaire CEO Michael Vilander needed just one date. Creating a fake profile on his own matchmaking website may not have been his brightest move. But then Sophia Baldwin’s arresting face pops up on his CHAT NOW feature. Not only is she gorgeous, but after spending half the night exchanging messages with her, he finds her to be naive, innocent and way too sexy.
Twenty-four-year-old Sophia Baldwin is barely able to make ends meet. Caring for her sick grandmother prevents her from having a normal life—aspirations of attending college full-time to become a nurse are on the back burner—but then she meets the charming and dazzling Clint on an online dating site. When he asks her to the Denver Arts Foundation’s Annual Valentine’s Day Gala, she’s confident things are looking up.
Ashley Davenport was born and raised in Colorado, and although she doesn’t always live there, she’ll always be a Coloradoan at heart. Ashley loves collecting vintage PYREX (if you have pink or turquoise call her), exploring the great outdoors, and traveling to every Disney Resort possible. When she’s not writing or on an adventure, she stays busy daydreaming about the hot men she writes about in her novels.
Pretty good. Few hot spots and yumminess. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have read a lot of millionaire/billionaire stories over the years. They’re like a classic tried-and-true and they’re great for a never fail HEA.
This story is a familiar plot and the author did a great job developing story. Even adding the evil Ex was a perfect twist.
But I had a hard time with the flow and the wording in some of the sections. The romantic connection was just off a little bit and just didn’t grab me for the all in.
I really enjoyed the male lead character, Michael, but Sophia left me lagging. Maybe I’m just over the whole b(m)illionaire and the virgin storyline. No matter the surrounding story, the basic plot is the same.
One thing the author did very well was included a decent heat factor when the two finally got together. Michael is a sweetie and has a certain level of yumm.
Overall, a pleasant and enjoyable story with a classic theme.
I hate it when I request an ARC based on the blurb, thinking I'll love the book so much, but end up so disappointed. Then I feel really guilty, feeling bad thinking about the author, having to read a review like the one I'm going to write.
So, we have a self made billionaire (owner of a website like match.com or something) and a twenty-four year old lady. He needed a date for a fancy gala, so he created a profile on his own matchmaking website and found Sophie. If you read the blurb, you'll get that they decide to be in a fake engagement for a month. This is the story. Now, here are my thoughts.
I would have love the story, if the hero wasn't so weak. He acts like this alpha dirty-talking billionaire CEO, when he's in fact insecure (he thinks all women are after his money), severely damaged by his ex-fiancee who left him at the altar and who doesn't kiss on the mouth. Pretty Woman much? I simply hated all the unnecessary drama, the lack of development in their relationship (everyone expects a fake relationship to turn into something real, but make me believe it!) and the fact that he didn't treat our heroine well, but she got aroused by him looking her way or him getting hard when arguing with his horrible ex. WTF, dude? Remember she broke your heart? And don't get me started on the last chapter! I kinda liked the heroine up to that point, but she ruined everything for me with her "self-awarded punishment".
That's about it. Again, I feel really bad about all this, but I couldn't find anything enjoyable about this book. I would have loved to give it at least 3★.
"ARC provided through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review."
Nothing But Trouble and myself did not get off to a good start. I am not sure if it was me or the read but things soon changed for the better. Once I got further into Michael I as on cloud nine. He was sweet, sexy, and had hints of being shy. He was no push over but he was not alpha, alpha. Sophie on the other hand was not what I would call a match for Michael. This hand nothing to do with her status. It was more the character bio. I did not find her to be really on the level. She was a bit harder for me to connect with.
I personally think the virgin thing is over done and a bit blase. The sweet millionaire/billionaire I could do all day long. He was the one thing that pulled this off. The read was okay. It would provide entertainment. I will not take you over the top or have you flipping the pages because you just have to get to the very next chapter or to the end. This was a tried and true scenario billionaire/millionaire and a virgin. The difference was the execution of the story. Like I said it was an okay read.
I have to admit the cover of this book doesn't do it for me as the guy looks bored and arrogant, not at all as I imagined Michael to be as I read through the pages. What did draw me was the whole idea of a fake relationship or in this case a fake engagement and the concept of online dating. I love those sorts of stories and even better when they end like Cinderella fairytales. The other thing that I loved about Ashley Bostock's book that set her aside from the other romance writers who write this sort of story is that she had her character suffer a couple of tragic moments. The book starts with Billionaire and Matchmaking entrepreneur Michael V needing a date to the gala which happens to be on Valentines Day. More so now that he has discovered the woman who left him at the altar and broke his heart will be there. Michael sets up a fake profile and starts swiping until he finds someone who appears to be real and genuine. That someone is Sophia Baldwin. Sophia is living with her grandmother whom is sick and taking care of her as well as studying to be a nurse while she works as a stripper to help pay the bills and her nana's medication. Her passion though is Art which we later see as she begins to also volunteer at an Art shelter for kids. Sophia is trying her best to be something with the cards she has been dealt. Michael and Sophia meet and click, and one thing leads to another, and a fake engagement develops. Though of course, Michael has a vindictive ex Mia who sets out to sabotage their happiness. When Michael discovers the truth about Sophia will he see her as a gold-digger like the rest of the women he has been with or will he find out a deeper side of Sophia and the sweet, genuine woman she is ? Find out in Nothing But Trouble by Ashley Bostock. Though the majority of this is a sweet romance, you may experience the need for eye-dabbing tissues.
Billionaire CEO Michael Vilander decides to use his own matchmaking website to find a date, under a made up persona though. He finds Sophia Baldwin who peaks his interest, Sophia though has to take care of her sick grandmother and is doing the best she can given the circumstances. What will happen when Sophia finds out that the man she has been talking to is not Clint the persona, but Michael.
Kind of a twist on Cinderella. I thought this was fun a bit predictable but if you are looking for a light book this is one to pick up.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was a good concept, nothing really new and the h's job was cliche. I really liked the h for the most part, she was a bit bruised by life but was not afraid to say what she thought. She was a bit gun shy later in the book but you could understand her being a bit dubious given the differences between the h and H. The H - could not take to him. He was hurt years ago and when his ex reappears, rather than put her in her place he entertained her ideas (fantasizes about her too - shudder). Also, all his thoughts seem to be centered around what he wanted to do with the h (you know what I mean), I never got the how he actually felt. It ends with a HFN, I see there are more books in the series so maybe we will see more of them and maybe they will get their HEA. I may read the next one - depends on the blurb.
This story took a while to get going, which caused me to get a little bored. By the time Michael and Sophia actually meet, I didn't really care. The story went downhill from there. I would never get back with a man who judged me for what I needed to do to survive, which wasn't illegal, and didn't give me a chance to explain.
I didn't like the Hero at all, the heroine was a bit too proud. I don't believe you have to tell anyone everything about you when you are dating, but she still made it harder for herself than needed.
I'm not sure I want to deal with reading the rest of the series. I will have to think about it.
This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew my mind. I love my billionaire men but this talented author exceeded all my expectations with Michael. This is the first book of the irresistible billionaires series and what great start it was. I was hooked on this book right from the beginning. It took me only a few hours to devour this book.
Michael Vilander needs a date for this annual gala he goes to every year. He is one of the top bachelors in his city which finding a date should be easy but not for him. Michael ends up making a fake profile on his own website to see what would happen. He thought it was going nowhere until he sees her. Michael is mesmerized by the beautiful Sophia Baldwin. She is gorgeous and also looks very innocent. He thinks that she will be perfect for him for one night. Michael and Sophia talked to each other almost all night and he is excited about this date. Sophia was in complete shock when she finds out that her date is the handsome CEO of Together. She is having a great time until they run into his ex. Sophia stands up to her but she tells everyone that they are engaged. Michael makes a deal with her for one month but will this turn into something more?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, humor, and drama. You will fall in love with these characters right from the start. Michael is a beautiful man that has good heart but he has walls up. He doesn’t want his heart to get broken again. Sophia is a beautiful woman that has to take care of her sick grandmother. She has a connection to Michael but will he be able to except all of her? These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will keep you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see who this author will write about next.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) What in the heck? What? This book was ridiculous. These two did not belong together and were weak. I hate heroines like this one, she needed self respect. She allowed Michael to treat crappy and then she is the one after him..huh I wanted to knock her up on the side of the head to wake up. Then there is Michael, he acts like he is so bad but lets his past dictate him, his ex ruined him yet he is still panting for her..Horrible..Yeah I wont read the rest.
This book, in theory, sounded good. When I started reading it, it quickly went south for me. There was so many weird things I couldn't over look. So many cliche storylines in this one. Stripper and Billionaire? Not what I was looking for.....
Nothing But Trouble is the first book in the Irresistible Billionaire Series by the wonderfully talented Ashley Bostock. It is such a fantastic, steamy contemporary/billionaire romance with a ‘fake-engagement’, and a bit of a modern ‘Cinderella’ story feel to the whole thing- which I really loved. It is an incredibly sexy and erotic story with scorching details that sizzled right off the pages. Michael Vilander is the thirty-three year old self-made billionaire, founder and CEO of the largest and most successful matchmaking website, TOGETHER.com. He desperately needs a date for a Gala he is obliged to attend, and because of his ‘two-date’ policy he is having trouble finding someone suitable. He decides to create a ‘fake profile’ on his own site to see if he has any luck. When one particular ‘match’ catches his eye, he contacts her, and they spend a fun night chatting back and forth. He asks her if she would attend the gala with him, and she agrees- and so starts this captivating story. But what he doesn’t know is that Sophia has a pretty big secret, one that could change everything- so what happens when he finds out what it is? Then add a nasty, conniving ex into the mix- and the story really gets interesting! The story is fantastic, and I loved following Michael and Sophia through the story. They are wonderful characters who were really well developed, complex and very endearing)- which made the journey even more addictive. The story is told from a duel POV; it has a great pace and flows smoothly. It was very easy to read, and I flew through it in one sitting. Now I can’t wait to read more of this series!
Nothing But Trouble is book one in the Irresistible Billionaires series by Ashley Bostock. I adore a good billionaire romance and I can say this author produces some of the most memorable ones. The story just flowed along, with many bumpy sections, many glorious sections, many tense sections, and endless feelings of love, even when the chips were down.
Sophia is a character I admire. She did what she had to do. She loves with her whole being, and isn't afraid to get dirty while doing what she needs to do. She didn't have a lot of choices, but she accepted her lot in life, gor on with it, and dreamed for the future. No way did she accept that she didn't have option. She just had to bide her time. Her heart was huge, and she just would not cave and wallow. She would rise and be who she wanted one day.
Michael was a mega rich man who had it all. Even things he didn't want. Like shallow people trying to gain a free ride. He just wanted to find the “one”. When he was burnt too many times, he decided to take what he needed and leave the emotional stuff to others. Not his angle, anymore. When he meets Sophia, he is a little blindsided. From her looks, her manner, her gentleness, and her innocence. Funny events occurred, and before he knew it, he had a fiancee!! Getting to know these two getting to know each other was enlightening and sweet. But secrets are revealled and their foundation shaken to the core.
Nothing But Trouble was a complete and dramatic romance. It had so much, and the author delicately unveiled each snippet so achingly alluring, I was hanging off every word. So addictive. So tantalising. Reading this story was unforgettable enjoyment. 5 stars.
I thought the characters, Michael and Sophia were fun, the book had me totally invested, eager to see how they navigated their way through their fake relationship, to getting to know each other including finding out secrets.
I loved the Matchmaker premise and there were some LOL moments, but on the whole, they both got on very well, evoking feelings in each other that they both were not expecting.
I loved how they both had great affection towards their grandmas that gave them a feeling of realism.
Michael's horrible ex Mindy was rotten to the core, and I was glad when Sophia put her firmly in her place.
They both were sort of loners but it was great to go with them as they worked through their own issues.
They had amazing chemistry, and I loved their banter, especially whilst volunteering as the Art center.
For a rich billionaire Michael wasn't a stuck up privileged man, he had earned every cent, he was thoughtful, a family man jaded from love because of his ex's actions.
Sophia was a sweet innocent young lady, working to save for her degree and was doing a fab job!
I loved that the CEO of the Matchmaking company was open to using the resources at his fingertips even if he did put big stipulations on everything.
Nothing But Trouble takes us into the life of Michael, a successful businessman. Eleven years ago he started an online dating site where you could find true love or just a date for the night. Desperate for a date on Valentine's Day for a fundraiser, he makes a fake profile to get said date.
Enter Sophia. When we meet her we see this shy girl living with and taking care of her sick grandmother. She does not do long term dates and is set for the future. Michael comes in and shows her what her life could be like if she let him take care of her.
At the gala we meet Michael's ex-fiance who is out to win him back, we his money anyway, and Sophia steps in to say that she is Michael's current fiance. This is then spread throughout the gala where it is then reported in the gossip mags the next morning.
But Sophia has a secret. She works as a stripper to help pay her bills and after her grandmother can't afford her medicine, she picks up more hours. Michael's ex finds out and tells him when the time suited her best.
This caused the two to break-up and not talk about why. While getting back together, Sophia's grandmother dies and she blames Michael for not being there with her. After some time apart, they get back together again. HEA.
Light, easy, fun and quick read. The story follows billionaire CEO Michael Vilander who has been burned once in a relationship (literally left at the alter), by a money grabbing user, he swears never to let anyone get close to him again. He has a two date max rule. However he needs a date for a fundraiser, but he decides he’ll seek someone out on his dating website, enter Sophia Baldwin, sweet, hardworking and compassionate. Sophia looks after her ailing grandma, works nights and also volunteers in her spare time, all while saving up money to pay for her grandma’s meds and her own nursing course fees. The story had lots of potential, very much modern day Cinderella, it did however feel a little stilted in places and very cliched, the end came rather abruptly. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review.
Michael Vilander is the CEO of a Dating site. He needed a date for a charity gala on Valentine's day. He decided to used his own website for a time only date. Sofia Baldwin was one of the many that answered his profile. After chatting, he asked if she would be comfortable going with him. So the story begins, they have their ups and downs. Sofia exuded fun, confidence, and a softness he didnt see in any of the other women he dated. Sofia had a secret that she never thought necessary to tell him. But would her secret ruin their so called relationship? Why was Michael so cautious when it came to relationships? The story is about trust , believing in others, betrayal, lies, secrets. Melissa Schairy narration was very good. having the emotions and feel for all the characters. I enjoyed listening to the story.🎧audiobookobsessionreview🎧
Nothing But Trouble (Irresistible Billionaires #1) by Ashley Bostock Turns out the billionaire wasn't the only thing that was irresistible. Bostock turned a humorous tale of heartache into a deeply moving life lesson. Nothing but Trouble tackles a woman's quest for independence, even as her world is falling apart. Her redemption comes in the form of a hot billionaire with a chip on his shoulder and an emptiness in his heart. She teaches him how to hope, he reminds her how to dream and together they find the courage to try. Ashley Bostock reminds that the road less traveled could put us right where we were meant to be.
This was a really fun quick read. I really do enjoy a good billionaire romance and Michael and Sophia's story was a pretty good read it was almost a modern take on Cinderella my only issue was it felt rushed at the end but other than that I enjoyed getting to know these two and liked their story. Looking forward to the next book
This book is a really hard one for me to review without rambling and probably making no sense. Mostly because the story and the writing is really very good. There were just things that didn’t gel to make it a great read for me.
First the aspects I loved:
The character of Sophia was both intriguing and sympathetic. The author did a fantastic job of juxtaposing a young lady forced to navigate the sex business while still fighting to keep her innocence. Her circumstances make this situation believable, as does her love for her grandmother and tender heart for others. I do believe there are other ways to make a living that would have afforded her the finances she needed but still understood her reasoning.
I also loved the writing style of the author. Her voice is easy to read and enjoyable. It flows smoothly and has a heart that a reader can feel and buy into.
Now the parts I had trouble with:
I felt the story just didn’t warrent the amount of page time spent on obsessing over sex. While steam is not the usual problem, in this story, the amount just didn’t feel organic. All the time spent on hardening cocks and nipples took away from time that could have been spent actually allowing the characters - and the reader - to get to know each other. We are told they spend time together but it is just brushed over rather than allowing us to experience it with them. Yet, every single page these characters are together there are long descriptions of how her body arouses him or his makes her....
Michael’s weird obsession with his nasty ex is extremely off-putting. There isn’t a single thing in the story that would give a reader a reason to believe it! Any guy with a brain would not have given her a minutes thought! Let alone obsessed over her even as she continues with her blatant nastiness. This just wasn’t believable and greatly diminished Michael’s attractiveness.
So! There you have it! So much goodness, with a couple very strong exceptions.
Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. She's a stripper who later realizes their lives are too different. He gives his driver a 3-week vacation and takes public transportation and now he understands what it's like to be in her stilettos. His ex and how he was still (very) physically attracted to her was off-putting and unexpected. At one point I felt like they might be better together. The only thing that really makes him finally walk away from his ex is hearing her say she assumed Sophie was after money since she was a stripper and that's why she told him that. Then he made the same assumption most strippers are sexually active. I did keep reading the book until the end because I was interested where it was going with all this. I did like how their HEA came about by building a friendship.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.
So before I get started with my review, I wanna say thank you to the wonderful miss Ashley Bostock. I was given the opportunity to beta read Nothing But Trouble and loved every single minute of it! I am ever so grateful for the chance I got and will forever be thankful. I cannot wait to do this again, because this was too fun!
This go around, my review is going to be a little different. It's going to be read how I talked to Ashley about Nothing But Trouble, and how I want you all to know how I initially felt about Michael and Sophia's story. Therefore, I hope you all like it.
So Ashley, you asked me if within the first 25 pages it was going to be a page turner and I truly think so. The concept of Michael being this billionaire eligible bachelor who struggles to find a date for an event kind of cracks me up, because women practically throw themselves at these characters right? I loved that you made his character vulnerable when it comes to women. Often in books you see these alpha males who couldn’t care less about having his heart broken because it’s on to the next one, but with Michael you made him take a step back and really think about his love life. Not that he wasn’t an alpha male, I just loved the fact that he was the perfect combo. And I loved that even though he is privileged and has money, he was very humble; not the typical billionaire douche canoe.
Sophia’s character was very intriguing. She was the gritty, do what you gotta do type of woman and I respect the hell outta that. You didn’t make her character whiny or bratty or stuck up. You made her funny, sassy, and sexy. And she’s not sexy because she’s a stripper, which was a woah moment by the way, but she’s sexy because she had a frickin personality. She held her own weight and in MY opinion was a better character than Michael.
The sexual tension could be cut with a spoon. You did a great job in that department. It was just steamy enough without being too much. It wasn’t like “damn, they’re at it again huh?” lol. It was more of a slow build up, but explosions and very worth the wait once it happened.
I loved the family concept on both sides. Michael’s family was down to earth and you can see where he gets it from. His grandma was my favorite! And even though there wasn’t much said, besides the obvious, about Sophia’s grandma, she was still amazing. From the little she did speak, you can tell she wanted her granddaughter to be happy. And I loved that Sophia was willing to put herself last in order to be there for her grandma first; no matter what she did for a living.
I hated Mindy and of course that’s the point of her character, I just wanted to toss that in there because of she was a bitch and I felt the need to point it out.
Your character dynamic and overall storyline are both amazing and you should be proud, which I’m sure you are. In my honest opinion, I believe you have what your wanting, which is a page turner!
I hope this helps love! Let me know if there is anything else you would like me to do in regards to this story besides posting a review on my blog when it’s time.
Thank you again for the opportunity to read your book and give you some honest feedback. I was scared that I wouldn’t like it, but you have nothing to worry about there.
You’re the best!
Okay y'all, there it is. Again this is my beta reader perspective review, with a little bit of twist. I loved everything about Nothing But Trouble, from beginning to end Ashley was able to grab and keep my attention. No dull moments, funny and super sexy. If you have yet to grab a copy, one-click it NOW!!!!
must be on a "hire a date" kick, because this is the second book in 2 days I've read with that type of theme. They are completely different story lines, but have the same general theme. Not complaining in the least because Nothing But Trouble did not disappoint. It had a strong story line, great characters and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire read.
Story Line: Who doesn't love a hot as heck billionaire? Show of hands? That's what I thought. I'm a total goner when it comes to rich, boss-men being brought to their knees by strong women. Michael is our rich guy. He owns a successfully dating site. Sophia is our heroine. She answers his anonymous ad looking for a date to a function. It was just supposed to be one date. Next thing we know, these two are stuck to one another for much more than just a night. One of my favorite details to this story was Sophia's "day job". I won't give away any of the details, but I was legit shocked. But what surprised me even more was how much I LOVED that about her. I'm not going to lie to y'all, I'm a quick to judge jerkface. I judge characters by their jobs, their attitudes, their families, you name it. But then I am also the first to admit when I've been in the wrong. And Sophia's job, albeit a total surprise, was absolutely perfect for the story line.
Interaction: Michael is a total caveman. What's even better? He doesn't even realize how alpha man he is until he begins his "relationship" with Sophia. There are times he's almost in disbelief of how strong his pull to her is. But Sophia holds her own. She's hiding a history and skeletons in her closet, just like Michael is. I loved how they worked through their issues and were able to find their way back to each other.
Laundry: Can I just say, I love reading about couples not being able to get enough of each other? Seriously. When they start of the night with a romp in the sheets, and then keep waking each other up throughout the night for round 2,3,4 etc... that's so freaking hot. Now, if my hubby were to do that, I'm pretty sure he would love his favorite appendage, but to read it? OH YEAH. Bring on a cold shower now.
Depth: There's always more than meets the eye. That's how the saying goes? Apparently I'm in a cliche kind of mood. But that saying is very true for Michael and Sophia. What started off as an innocent Pretty Woman style date, turned into so much more. It's crazy how fate works, isn't it? I truly believe these characters met because the universe (or author for those of you not living in my fantasy novel world) had plans for them. Michael and Sophia think they are so different - so different that there's no way an actual relationship could work. But what they didn't realize was that putting their trust in one another was the secret to finding their happily ever after. This story teaches us that trust is such a precious thing and that we should never, ever take it for granted. LOVE.
5 Hearty Stars Review by Angelique Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog
“I have a feeling you will change your mind. And when you do, I will be back to hike your pretty little ass over my shoulder and carry you out of this place.”
A sweet and little heart-warming story, of a woman just trying to survive and do what she can and a man who is on top of the world with a tainted view on what it takes to be happy and how they manage to affect each other in the most unexpected way, comes to life in Ashley Bostock's latest novel, Nothing But Trouble, the first book of the Irresistible Billionaires series.
She captures the essence of unconditional love so perfectly and how easily a cruel person can ruin something beautiful.
We meet Sophia, a quiet and withdrawn woman, who focuses her life around her ill grandmother who she loves more than life itself. She does what she can to both follow her dream of becoming a nurse and at the same time to make sure her grandmother is taken care of. Deciding to accept a nearly complete stranger, who she just met online, and his request to be his date for one night to a gala on Valentine’s Day, she doesn’t expect much, but of course her life is thrown a little of it’s axis when she finally meets the handsome stranger.
Michael Vilander is a self made billionaire, the fact that he’s a rich man because of a dating website, doesn’t in any sense of the word, help him find a decent date for the fundraising gala that is quickly approaching. Deciding to try his hand on his own website he stumbles on a sweet smiling woman just as he was about to log off and give up on any successful candidate. After spending hours chatting, she eventually agrees to be his date.
The story starts off a little slow but it gets more exciting as you move on. There are particularly sweet and hopeful moments where you smile along with the characters and moments when you feel like shouting in frustration.
It’s a romantic little novel that is sure to make you go a little crazy at times, but mostly just sweet enough to keep you drawn in.
Nothing But Trouble: Irresistible Billionaires by Ashley Bostock My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This story is sweet, funny, sad and beautiful. I had so many emotions with all the different situations happening between the two main characters. This was a nice easy read that left me satisfied with the whole story and how everything played out.
Michael is irritating. After meeting Sophia and having her as his pretend date for the gala and now his pretend fiance, he messes it up. His sneaky, nasty ex finds out where Sophia works and goes and takes pictures of her there to show Michael, and tells him she is a gold digger. Michael believes her and ruins it with him and Sophia. In my mind of course I'm asking, Why are you listening to your horrible ex? Do you really still have feelings for her after she broke your heart? Why don’t you talk to Sophia instead of jumping to conclusions?
Sophia is sweet, but also gets me worked up in some situations. She knows this is all pretend and of course she starts to fall in love, so when Michael calls her out on where she works, and thinks she is only after his money, and voices as much to her, she just kind of walks away. It takes her weeks before she finally says enough is enough and goes to him to tell him exactly what is happening and why she has to behave the way she does. Just when I think the situation has righted itself, Sophia has a tragedy happen in her life and of course pushes Michael away.
This book had me laughing in the beginning, gritting my teeth and crying in the middle and smiling in the end. The story was perfect and I really like how it was laid out. I'm at a point where I think the book is wrapping up and then boom, something happens to draw the story out and throw me for a loop, loved it! I would recommend this for anyone who wants a quick romance fix, this book is perfect and very entertaining.
Nothing But Trouble (Irresistible Billionaires Book 1) By: Ashley Bostock 5 out of 5 stars
The story Nothing But Trouble (Irresistible Billionaires Book 1) by Ashley Bostock is a romance book the I loved reading. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning. I loved reading about the characters of Michael Vilander and Sophia Baldwin. Sophia is a strong, beautiful, intelligent, and kind woman. Michael is a workaholic and a man that doesn’t do relationships or anything long-term. He finds her when he creates a fake profile on his matchmaking website. I don’t think an announcement at the Valentine Day Gala by Sophia that she and Michael attend that they are engaged was in the plans. They find themselves agreeing to pretend to be in love, a fake engagement, for a month. Is there more to the emotions/feelings that Sophia has for Michael? Michael is one that guards his heart. Why does Sophia so intrigue him? What does the future hold for both Sophia and Michael? Read this book to find out. Both Michael and Sophia have issues that they face. As the story progressed and I got to know their characters better I found myself caring about them and wanting them to be happy. My emotions went up and down the entire time I was reading the story. There are times when reading that I was smiling and other times when my heart was breaking. This is a story that I got lost in and didn’t want to put down until I had read the final page. The book has a smooth flow to it. There is heartfelt and emotional dialogue. This is the first story in a series and I look forward to reading the next one.
Such a fun book! I loved Michael’s character from the beginning. At first glance he may seem to be the standard romance cliche, CEO too busy to date, hurt by previous ex and sworn off to finding true love, but that’s where it ends. Immediately his character is enduring and sweet. His grandmother is his secretary and their banter is adorable. Michael is the head of his own company that developed and runs a dating app. Desperate for a date for a charity gala he signs up for his own app. Enter Sophia, a woman that truly surprised me. She’s soft with hard edges. She is doing what she can to take care of her grandma and pay for school. Her passion is art and while Michael is not artistic in any way, the charity he supports is in the arts. Because this is supposed to be a one night thing, there is not too many in depth conversations regarding their personal lives. As they become involved this creates a bit of drama. But one of the things I liked about this book is that the drama is not forced or severe. It is just enough to keep the story interesting and going. I don’t want to give too much away, the storyline is familiar but the writing is good and story effortless. It was quick and left me wanting to keep going and the characters are extremely likable. I thoroughly enjoyed this and was pleasantly surprised. Recommend for any and all contemporary romance folks. *This book was given to me for free for an honest review.
