Three sweet romantic comedies inspired by Jane Austen. The set includes:
PRIDE AND BUTTERFLIES
Caralyn Sharp's bad day takes an unexpected turn when she's rear-ended by a military officer with an attitude, who is also the owner of the most amazing pair of blue eyes she's ever seen.
NONE BUT YOU
Anna Ellington never expected to see Erick again. Breaking off their engagement was the worst decision of her life. But her bitter regret is nothing compared to pretending she's not still in love with him.
EMMA'S MATCH
Emma Wallace has a plan up her sleeve to save her struggling design business, but not a clue what to do about the man who has her heart. Emma's never failed at anything...except walking the line between friendship and love.
Franky A. Brown has always called the South home and loves to write about it. She holds an English degree from the University of South Carolina and can't seem to stop reading. She is the author of romantic comedy and contemporary romance. Find her at frankybrown.com.
A collection of three contemporary romances, inspired by Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion and Emma.
Pride and Butterflies: 3*
Hilarious rom-com inspired by Pride and Prejudice. Enters, quite literally, with a crash and it kept me smirking a lot (when I did not laugh out loud). A highly entertaining, fast-paced and engaging read about PR consultant Caralyn, her bad day and multiple run-ins with Alex... At about 2/3rds the story shifts with Caralyn's thirtieth birthday. She behaved like she was a decade younger, occasionally throwing a tantrum worthy of a three-year-old... The heroine's commitmentphobia did eventually get annoying, it went on several turns too long and an otherwise entertaining read dropped from 4 stars to an average 3...
None But You: 4*
An engaging and funny, off canon contemporary variation of Persuasion. The latter was a new experience for me. This was a more light-hearted read, compared to the original. Mashed up with Emma who was Anna's best friend and roommate.
Emma's Match: 4.5*
A contemporary rom-com inspired by Jane Austen's Emma. Funny and engaging, off canon story. Emma had her own design company when Jillian Fairfax entered Charleston and stole all her clients. In addition, she overheard some unflattering remarks about herself that led Emma to create a list of self-improvement points that she muddled up one by one...
Anne Wentworth makes an appearance and I thought that the two friends were surprisingly well-matched in both None But You and Emma's Match. A creative and bold twist that I enjoyed a lot.
So cute. I loved how Emma was unapologetically herself. A little self-absorbed, quite jealous, a tad spoiled, but still relatable. I devoured this book in one plane ride. It took me a minute to get into it, but I was quickly hooked. The story took some amusing and sometimes frustrating twists and turns as Emma realized her true feelings, culminating in a super cute, satisfying ending.
