From Cape Reinga on New Zealand's North Island to Bluff on the South Island leads a long-distance trail with the name of Te Araroa. The Long Pathway covers a distance of roughly 3000 kilometers and tempts thru-hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, runners and societal runaways every year to challenge each single one of them.
Among the roughly 300 people in the class of 2015/2016 is Anna, a German, who sets out on the Kiwi adventure and this is her story. From the long stretched 90 Mile Beach through dense and muddy New Zealand bush and the vastness of the South Island, here is a book that shows a thru-hikers daily life on the TA of daily walking, eating, napping, hitch hiking, eating, fighting pains, eating, battling New Zealand's most dangerous animals "the Sandflies" as well as the interaction with fellow walkers and then eventually making strangers friends. Here is a book that gives everyone a touching introduction of what it means to attempt a thru-hike, as well as offers insight in the Kiwiana and New Zealand along Te Araroa Trail.
A great recount of a bucket list item very few make the time or space to undertake. A long distance through hike in beautiful NZ. More personal diary than public journal, I still wanted to share the adventure. Well done!
