FIRST READING FINISHED 7/12/12: One of the best books I've ever read. REALLY good and highly recommended!
REREAD 10/28/14: Still one of my favorite books. Create a burning desire for what you want, then act as though the wish is fulfilled. Believe it to be true to manifest whatever you're looking to get out of life. Short book, lots of thought provoking chapters.
THIRD READING 5/8/16: Well, it seems every two years I wind up reading this book. I first heard about it when I read Wayne Dyer's book "Wishes Fulfilled", which is also a great book and borrows heavily from this earlier work of Neville's. If you're unfamiliar with Neville, this is probably the best book of his to start with. It's very good.

Interesting read
I enjoy this type of literature. It makes sense to me. But I learned to keep my thoughts and feelings to myself regarding this type of material. This new age stuff is controversial to some. The religious type say it's from the devil and the scholarly, intellectual type consider it crazy, crackpot literature. That won't stop me from reading and studying the works of a great philosopher like Goddard. This was a very interesting read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I enjoyed reading this book. These days, I can only read what I am truly guided to read... and upon reading this book, I was amazed at how it touched on so much that is up-front with me right now. However, this ought not to be amazing... as when I read what I am truly guided to.... it speaks to me right here and now. thank you.

It has been very noticeable that more than words, the way those same words are spoken have the tendency to move people. Take an example of der Führer of past Germany, Adolf Hitler, whose political gore found inspiration from the manipulated works of Friedrich Nietzsche, by his own sister. And he went along with the intent way before he thought he would. Manifesting anything that brings destruction or creativity to that which has been already created is possible. Why I am talking about Hitler is because he influenced something upon people that later brought havoc and the power of influence that I was impressed with by Neville Goddard was a mixture of his profound teachings and the way he gave those teachings.
Before reading The Power of Awareness, I would request everyone who is reading this review to listen to a few of his audio recordings that are available on Youtube (thanks to technology), and if those words, those profound words create an impact on you, which I am sure they will if humans as they are likely to be, receptive, then and only read proceed with reading the books. I am emphasizing on listening to them because I believe that the way they have been spoken hold the immense power of you realizing that you can now change your life, not by any exterior tool but I looking into God and that means looking into yourself and by looking in I mean 'Visualizing'. By God, I mean 'Imagination'.
The Power of Awareness includes twenty-seven chapters of the most powerful law of the universe that we have access to consciously and subconsciously— The Law of Assumption. This may give rise to a lot of perspectives before even studying the matter in scrutiny, but a little bit of curiosity and judgment or even astonishment is beautiful because those will all turn into a much beautiful state with awareness and consciousness of one shift.
Neville Goddard was a Guru and was very ahead of his time.

A great book on the Law of Assumption. The central idea to feel what you want to become such that it has all the vividness of reality and to do this persistently, is repeated numerous times in the book.
I've read pieces by other advocates of the law, but none have expressed it more clearly than Goddard does. His teachings resonate the most with me.

While the concept is fascinating it’s not new and I did find the book very repetitive

The book stinks of dogma, lacking any philosophical grounds and making numerous far fetching assumptions. Goddard instructs readers to to believe they are at the place they want to be (even with superficial things as requiring a fireplace in a fancy appartement), whereafter he claims that if you did not achieve your goal, it is really your fault and does not indicate any flaw in his theory.
“But, once you know that consciousness is the only reality and is the sole creator of your particular world and have burnt this truth into your whole being, then you know that success or failure is entirely in your own hands.”
“If your assumptions are not fulfilled it is because of some error or weakness in your consciousness”
Reading these quotations should be enough to discourage you from actually implementing his philosophy (if you can call it that) into your life. Of course, we should set goals and follow our interests and passions to pursue them. And sometimes dreaming may be a powerful tool in giving us hope during hardship. However, we should also recognize that we have limited control over the realization of the things we desire. Goddards blatant disregard for any external influence on the events of day to day life make you wonder how out of touch he is with reality. And what a privileged life he has lived if he has convinced himself that his theory is the truth (which he explicitly states).
If you want practical advice that doesn’t require Christian inspired Dogma from a man that suffers from ideas of grandiosity, I would recommend stoicism (a good introduction could be “A Guide to the Good Life” by William B Irvine).

This book is not one to read and review, instead to learn from day by day forever, at least that's how it seems right now, so I'm gonna put it in the "read" file. If I ever feel like writing a review of it, I will.

I’m trying my hardest to enter my self improvement girlie era and it’s…not going well.
I’m pretty jaded with modern self help books and decided to read this on a whim because it was short and on an internet list.
My biggest issue with this book is that it has to assume a Christian audience (due to the time it was written) and tries to take ideas that aren’t Christian and tries to give them legitimacy by quoting Bible texts to support those ideas. No, that is not what the Gospel of John meant, Neville. This wasn’t a first century way of thinking at all. Stop trying to make fetch a thing.
It would have been better if he just presented the ideas and anecdotes without bringing the Bible into it. So annoying.

Neville explains how you can consciously create your future by visualization and the power of assumption - by assuming that your wish is fulfilled and feeling as you would, were it fulfilled. Great book. He has a high level of consciousness. The book may be thought old-fashioned, having many references to the Bible. It appears that the content of the Bible expresses spiritual truths about abundance, creating your own reality, etc. in the form of metaphors.

If you want to know the secret behind "The Secret" then this book is for you!
Nivelle wrote about the Secret long before the movie and the book were out... this no fluff book written in 1952 says it all... a life changing experience!

Neville Goddard lectured and wrote his books long before law of attraction became a buzz word and before the documentary The Secret and other publications came out. I found it refreshing to read about his thoughts without all of today's theories and hype. The case studies sound convincing. One story about a young man who imagined himself honorably discharged from the army turns out to be his own experience.
One thing or advice is repeated over and over: you have to act and feel like what you desire has already been fulfilled; thinking, wishing, imagining it is not enough. It is not as easy as it may sound and cannot be repeated and emphasized enough.
As the bible is not relevant to me, I would have enjoyed this book even more if there were fewer bible quotes in it. But I could just skip those pages and enjoy the rest.

I liked the book, but I didn't love it. It felt a little dated to me, but I can see how when it was originally published, this could have been a ground-breaking way to think, especially for the Western audiences. He talks about the Law of Assumption, which is similar to what's more popularly known as the Law of Attraction now.
I'm also aware that this is a favorite for many people, so this is just my 2 cents :)

This book has some good concepts, but lacks rational explanations for them. Ultimately, they are helpful, but could easily be misunderstood and/or misapplied if the reader does not have some pre-existing context and understanding of the reasons for their effectiveness.

This is as easy to understand as new age thought gets. I find this particularly impressive because the book was originally published in 1952. Neville is timeless.

"Bak bunlar zaten Kutsal Kitap'ta da var inan yaparsın" gazı veriyor okura. Hatta Kutsal Kitap çarpıtılıyor. Kitabın olumlu yorumları çok abartılı bence. "Çekim Yasası"nın öncülü misali "Varsayım Yasası" diye bir bakış açısı ile yaşamak istediğimiz hayatı hayal ederek ona kavşabileceğimizi savunuyor. Eğer hayalimizde canlandırdığımız şeyler gerçekleşmiyorsa sorumlusu ise biziz yazara göre, yeterince güzel canlandırmamışsınızdır, diyor açık açık. Varsayım Yasası ile ölümcül bir hastalığın son aşamalarında olmasına rağmen iyileşebilen birinden örnek veriyor bir kısımda. Kitap dönemin dandik spritüel yaklaşımlarının kaynağını anlamamıza yardımcı olacak türden. Sevmedim hiç benlik değil.

I found this to be a unique book, since it seems to be a mix of Eastern philosophy (Advaita Vedanta, Monism), and American "New Thought". It was also written in the 1940's, which means it was before much was known of these thought systems in any case. It contains some excellent pointers and scriptural interpretations related to the idea that 'consciousness' or 'awareness' is all (and God). It is way ahead of its time in terms of this idea and the way it is explained. HOWEVER, this knowledge is then distorted due to the influence of "New Thought", which exhorts readers to then go about and "manifest your desire". If the reader had truly realized his/herself as just consciousness or pure awareness, wouldn't that also exclude the use of 'desire' and any apparent individual who had 'needs' to manifest? Why would the use of imagination even be necessary?
Hence, it is a mixture of genius on the one hand, and nonsense on the other. Recommended as probably one of the better "new thought" type books one could find.

What I liked most about this book was the information provided in the least amount of pages. The Power of Awareness, in my opinion, is a feel good book, empowering and surprisingly short. Definitely a book that is easy to read and I personally would enjoy re-reading it again as a refresher on what most self-help, mind over matter books provide. I took my time enjoying this, and it will be read again.

The book explicates the law of assumptions. Our deepest assumptions about reality is what creates our reality. Many times we are unaware of our own assumptions, and thus we create an undesirable reality.
Our biggest wrong assumption is our wrongly perceived identity. We are not who we think we are since we are beyond thoughts. We are I AM.

This is a book to be savoured! It is. It a bug book but each chalet is 1-3 pages of words and ideas to really deeply consider. It is such a positive book and has a way of discussing GOD- I AM in a way that resonates with your seamlessly! Read for a pick me up or to have a daily focus to consider... if you practice the law of attraction at ALL or believe in positive thinking then this book is for you!

It's a great method for achieving peace of mind. Vedanta says the same thing. You can read the Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda and the message is the same. We are the goal already.

This book should be titled “How to be delusional 101”. Lots of misquotes and misinformation. Lots of useless analogies lacking detail and reality. Just because you want a Dog and pretend you have a dog doesn’t mean you can afford the up keep and actual care of said dog.
