“Immortality is the burden the Evergreens must bear. There is no rest. There is no release. There is only pain, regret, and forgetting.” One hundred and ninety eight years ago, a pandemic killed over a third of the earth’s population. Families were lost. Technological advances ground to a halt. Society plunged into chaos. In the wake of the disease, however, 17 average humans were suddenly left immortal. They have become known as the Evergreens, and over the last two centuries a leader has arisen among them. Minister Sebastian Olmec is cruel, power-hungry, and unforgiving. He is also in love. Unfortunately, the love of his infinite life is a mortal woman, and she is dying from a condition that has all the best doctors and scientists baffled. In order to save her, Olmec will stop at nothing, even if it involves hiring a bounty hunter with a death wish to kidnap all the other Evergreens for his sinister plans. Sometimes love truly knows no bounds. In this new fantasy science-fiction work by M.L. Kinbote, we discover that even the immortal can have surprisingly normal weaknesses, and sometimes not everything is exactly as it seems.
Very good. extremely captivating! I am really really hoping that there is a sequel because the ending was a total cliff hanger!!! No way is he going to let Vera get away without a fight!
