This monograph summarizes the information available on the natural history of nuthatches, with particular emphasis on their behavior and ecology. The first half is devoted to the Eurasian Nuthatch with chapters on such topics as habitat and population densities, breeding biology, and dispersal and migration. The remaining 23 nuthatch species are then grouped by geography and/or affinities along with a consideration of what is known of each species and a comparison of their biology.
