She’s fighting to keep her head above water… He’s drowning in guilt.
-Kyle- As a kid my life was perfect. I had everything I could ever want. Amazing parents, a loving little sister.
Then it all changed.
In the blink of an eye, my heart died. My soul fractured, my happiness vanished. For years I felt nothing but pain.
Then Carissa walked into my life.
In an instant, she turned my world upside down. With one look she quieted my demons. Silenced my pain.
Before I learned her name, she became my salvation.
Determined to get things right, I’ve kept my distance. But I am done with the space between us. The time has come for me to claim my woman. Once and for all.
Warning: ugly cry ahead.
The Redeeming Love Series: Book One: Every Moment with You (Hendrix and Maddie) Book Two: Every Breath You Take (Anthony and Shelby) Book Three: Every Promise You Made (Evan and Hope) Book Four: Every Tear You Cry (Brantley and Clara) Book Five: Every Time We Touch (Kyle and Carissa) Book Six: Every Wrong You Right (Ty and Heidi)
Each book in the Redeeming Love Series can be read as a standalone.
J.E. Parker is a multi-genre author of sexy, heart-wrenching romances that will make you laugh, cry, and swoon. A self-proclaimed hot mess and coffee connoisseur, she writes books featuring strong heroines, panty-melting heroes, a heaping serving (or two) of angst, and guaranteed happily ever afters.
J.E Parker is a "new to me" author. I set myself a little challenge this year to read more "new" or "new to me" authors, so this one sounded like a good contender in that regard. Often trying a new author can end up being a crapshoot, but luck was on my side. This book was SO good. I have read none of the other books in this series (I plan to) and I wasn't completely lost. However, it got a wee bit confusing at times because there were a plethora of secondary characters to keep track of. Since so many of them are couples, family, and friends from the previous books in this series, I would recommend for the best reading experience they should be read in order. But as I said, you can happily read this one as a standalone without too much confusion.
One highlight of this book was the writing itself. It was an excellently written book. It was a relatively long book, but the pace was perfect. The plot was engaging. Heartbreaking. Hilarious (good lord Grandmama is a HOOT). The second half of the book also has a little thread of mystery woven through it. This was super low angst and insta love type of read. There wasn't any OW or OM drama. Kyle broke my heart, but he was SO sweet. Sexy. Alpha. I loved him. He was also celibate the entire three years he was waiting for the heroine to graduate (so bonus). Carissa was also sweet. Funny. Feisty. Had a huge heart. Alas, she was also a virgin (groan), but it at least made sense in this case since she was 20 when her and Kyle first meet, and her father is crazy overprotective. Still...virgins...so sick of them! (lol) The sex scenes were hot. It had a fantastic cast of secondary characters. I adored the comradery and the love this vast group of people had for each other. Last, it was all wrapped up in a super sweet ending.
*** I was gifted with an ARC from the author for my honest review ***
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I'm so torn with this book. I haven't cried this much in a long time and it started with the Prologue up until the end. This is by far my #1 from the Redeeming Love series. I know I said it with the others as well but if I could rate this book 10 stars or more I would.
Jaimee Parker you owe me a box of tissues (LOL).
Now let me give you an idea of what my overview of this book is. Kyle had lost someone very dear to him, his sister at a very young age. But his heartache did not just end there he lost more than just his beloved sister. He was such a gentlemen with a heart of gold but with all the guilt he carried over losing his sister he was always sad and heartbroken. When he met Carissa she could immediately see all the sadness within him. They had an immediate connection and vowed to stay true to each other whilst Carissa finished her studies. Kyle was very protective and possessive over Carissa.
With all the goodness in him he still carried the guilt over losing his little sister, but he found the will to keep going a testament to his strength. Carissa understood his heartache and vowed to help him put together the shattered pieces and mend his heart again. But Carissa also carried a guilt of her own and Kyle was also there to help her through this to overcome this guilt of her own.
These two was each other's strength and kept each other on the strait path to get through this. They had to face one more obstacle and that was a stalker. Who was this stalker and what was the outcome?
As you know grandmama is always in the picture and we just cannot go without her and her gun and flyswatter. She just put a smile on your face even through sad times.
I apologize if I gave too many spoilers in my review, but this was the best way to give you an idea who Kyle and Carissa was.
Now I hope that Ty and Heidi will be next, they will make such a great couple. I also hope that somewhere in the near future in one of the books in this series we get and insert for Kyle's mom (Dottie) and Carissa's dad (Daryl). I think they would make such a wonderful couple, who also had their fair share of heartache. It would be nice to know if they found love and happiness.
Jaimee Parker you are one of the most brilliant and gifted authors there is. Congratulations once again on yet another wonderful book from this series.
WOW!!! This book has everything!! Laughter, tears, guilt, angst and is so well written you feel apart of it all. Kyle dealing with so much guilt and heartache falls for Carissa who has her own guilt and heartache. Together they put the pieces of both their hearts together in this next instalment of this book series!! Highly recommend reading this book!
When reading this book, you should probably have tissues on standby. There are many moments throughout that utterly broke my heart. Not only for the main characters but their family and friends.
However, this was a fantastic story. It was well written and draws you in. I got so wrapped up in it that it was hard to put down even in moments I had to read through my tears.
Kyle had a few moments that he struck me as being a little over the top possessive, but at the same time his loyalty and dedication to Carissa made it easy to look past. He very clearly loved her. He showed it as well as said it and I loved how obvious it was. Carissa was just one of those sweet people that everyone loved. I was one of those everyone.
This book kept me on my toes and was so full of emotion. I want to go back and read every previous story I’ve missed just to know more about everyone, but I really like that I don’t feel like I had to read all the previous books to enjoy this one.
I talk a lot so words should come easy, but there really isn’t enough ways or words to express what this book meant to me and I hope it means to all of you.
In life bad things happen, in books those stories can be told. When they are told with the ability to draw you so far into that world, you know you have a book that was so truly meant to be written. That’s what this book is. The writing, the emotion, the raw vulnerability that each piece of this story brings into your heart and soul.
Kyle and Carissa, they were meant to be. They were meant to heal one another of their guilt, of their pasts, of their sorrow. The journey is one you will never forget. Tears will be shed, laughter will be had and your heart will beat in overtime.
This book their really isn’t any words, or words that can truly do it justice. J.E. Parker, you my friend , were meant to write, you were meant to tell a story and you were meant to show your greatness as you have done time and time again, but with this one, just wow!
I'm really enjoying this series and this author's style. Kyle and Carissa definitely had to fight for their HEA, but they fought together and not each other. There was no push/pull, just huge obstacles from their past that each needed to work on overcoming. No ow/om drama. Kyle was a real H and wasn't manwhoring around until he could be with Carissa... once he saw her the first time he was all in and waited for her (for years). I really like how this author writes her characters and that was no different in this book. I love that Carissa is both strong and determined while also being vulnerable and a little bit broken. I find that refreshing and authentic-- all people are multi-faceted. The Hs in these books are also blessed with a range of emotions. Kyle was definitely Alpha, but he was also so vulnerable and so very broken in some ways and the author didn't shy away from that.
One of the things I love about these books is that the author has a way of adding new characters on the sly without overwhelming us with all these new people all of the time. We get a couple of books (at least) to get to know new characters. For instance-- we've gotten to know Carissa and Kyle a little bit in past books so I was invested in them getting their HEA. In this book we got the perfect amount of insight into Ty and Heidi-- I can't wait for their book! It's going to be awesome. I already love Ty even though I get the impression he was a bit of a bully when he was younger. I can't lie-- I'm also super interested to finally get Ashley's book. (Ooooo, and I just saw that we're eventually getting Pop's story?! I'm in.)
Kyle and Carissa’s story may be one of the hardest to get through in this series. Not because it’s a bad one at all, but because of how much pain both of them carry in their hearts. Kyle survived the loss of his favorite person as a child and blames himself for it, while Carissa blames herself for the death of her mother. When Kyle meets Carissa, he knows she’s not ready for him, but he also knows that she can make his heart feel whole again, so he waits THREE YEARS for her to be ready to become his. And once that time comes, Kyle is all in and doesn’t allow room for second thoughts or regrets. He and Carissa manage to heal each other through love and understanding, and even danger can’t stop their love. They manage to defeat all enemies, be those in the form of other people or the demons inside themselves, and earn a fabulous HEA in the end.
We also get to catch up with everyone else from this series, as well as get a glimpse into who might be next. I can’t wait to see the ride that Heidi and Ty likely have, but that’s a story for another day.
My..... My..... My....... is what I was thinking once I finished reading this book. I was speechless and my mind was whirling with lots of things because this is one of those stories that draws you in and keeps you reading till the end and when the end is there you want more. It has love, laughter, guilt, hurt, pain, and so much more I can't put into words. I laughed, I cried, and I yelled at my kindle like a crazy woman but this story has it all, everything you want and need in a romance story.
Kyle is a man destroyed. He has lost it all and he thinks he has no life left to live for. But then he meets Carissa and he watches her from afar and decides she is going to be his sunshine. He waits three whole years before he makes a move but once he has it in his mind to get his girl he goes after her and Carissa is receptive to Kyle. These two are meant for each other, they fit like hand in a glove. Their love is something I strive to have with my husband. This is an amazing series and I will be reading the previous books because the characters from those books are a part of this book. So go on and one click it but start with book one to enjoy this roller coaster ride!
I might just have to say this was my favorite story out of the entire series! I've really enjoyed this series so far and there have been some amazing stories told. Each one has it's own heartbreaking pieces that'll grab onto your heart and take you on one heck of an emotional ride...but this one! I do think this one broke me! My heart hurt for Kyle every step of the way but there were moments that I think I actually held my breath while I read...anxious for those next words that were either going to make their lives better or worse.
The way that Kyle & Carissa heal each other was very touching. To find that person that can heal all the broken pieces is a gift but to find the person that together you can heal EACH OTHERS broken pieces is a treasure and makes for a beautiful story!
I adore this crew! The way they all fit together; the life lessons they help each other maneuver around, the tragedies they heal from and all the memories they make together along the way! Grandmama might be a side character in this series, but man she's one heck of a bonus in this world!! And most definitely unforgettable!
Let me begin by saying that this book has a powerful and heartbreaking beginning. the way J.E Parker writes is just amazing and no amount of words I put into this review will be enough because this book is just beyond incredible. I was only supposed to read the prologue and wait until later to read it, but I could not put it down for the life of me. Kyle is such an amazing character but oh so broken while Carissa is just trying to keep it together for her family. As soon as Kyle meets Carissa, he knows she is destined to be his and decides to wait for as long as it takes to be with her. We see through each page how these characters are fixing each other's hearts and fall madly in love. While there is heartbreak, there is a lot of humor in this book, and we get to see what is going in the lives of previous characters. This author's work only gets better with every new release, and this is her best work to date. This book can be read a standalone, but if you have not read the other books in this series, I would recommend doing so because they are just as amazing as this one.
This is the fifth book in this amazing series. Kyle and Carissa’s story is an emotional roller coaster journey from beginning to end, as they both overcome issues of guilt and allow themselves to heal each other. This is a beautifully written story which is heartbreaking, emotional, raw, gritty, intense, powerful, humorous, and with angst and redemption which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I cannot wait to read more form this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all readers.
What a fantastic book, be prepared to cry. I cried so hard. Loved how Kyle instantly falls for Carissa. My heart broke for both of them as they had issues of guilt they couldn’t get over, can they heal each other? It’s an emotional journey and I loved how much they loved each other. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.
This story is Amazing!!! With each book you think you can’t possibly love it as much as the last but she Blew Me Away with this one! Squeezing my heart around every corner! Definitely read this book series!
Amazing emotional read with lots of drama and amazing characters. Kyle and Carissa have been through so much and as you read their story it feels as though you are going through every thing right along with them. Beautiful, heart wrenching, joyous and touching. A wonderful read.
This was a good read. Kyle has never gotten over what happened to his sister. This causes a lot of problems in his life. Carissa has her own issues going on but when they meet they hit it off. However, it was a few years later that they finally got together. They are lucky and help each other get over their issues and get a happy ending.
"I don't plan to sew your heart back together, but I have every intention of stitching your broken pieces to my tattered ones. That way we can both be whole again."
WARNING: Have copious amounts of tissues handy before opening this book!! Right from the prologue, your heart is going to be wrecked!! This author has such a way of pulling your heart apart then putting it all back together by the end. Tears are almost a guarantee - but they are ones of heartbreak for sure, but also of happiness and laughter. (Thank the stars for Grandmama!)
Carissa Johnson is just trying to help her family make ends meet. Working two jobs and finishing school and becoming a social worker takes up all her time. From the moment she met Kyle, she made that clear. Now, she has her degree and Kyle isn't waiting one more minute to make good on his promise to make her his. But, he has burdens of his own that he's carrying, a guilt that he uses his fists to express. They are kindred souls - broken, guilty, angry. Can they put each other back together and help each other move on? Is their love for each other strong enough to put the demons to rest?
Kyle Tucker knew from the moment he laid eyes on Carissa that she was the one. He didn't even know her name yet, and he knew. His life was forever changed over a decade ago - his family torn apart - all because of him. He's kept everyone at a distance, wallowing in his guilt alone. But Carissa could be the one to save him. His broken soul is drawn to hers like a moth to a flame - but she'd never burn him. She's his light in the dark - the missing half of his splintered heart. He'll never let anything happen to her. He'll keep her safe and he'll love her forever. Nothing and no one will ever take her away. It's time for him to heal, and she's the one that just might be able to do it.
Oh. My. Goodness!! I am not a crier. Not over a book anyway. But darn it all, if Ms. Parker has gone and made me do it. The things she has her characters go through!! Despite the tragedies that befall Kyle and Carissa, they are such strong characters. I love it when the tough, closed-off man, who feels he's not good enough for anyone, finds that right woman who can chip away at that crunchy exterior and bring out the romantic man inside. And I equally love, when the strong woman, who never wants anyone's help, finds the man that she can finally let take the reins. Love truly can conquer all!
If you haven't read this series, I highly suggest you do!! Like I said, have the tissues handy but you won't be sorry. At all.
Have the box of Kleenex ready for this book! Talk about emotional read! Lots of heartache and angst. There is healing and finally peace. Sometimes the course of true love takes longer to realize and resolve other issues. A must read! JE Parker is a must read author!
OMFG! OMFG! What a book by J.E. She's done it again. I love this series so much and wow, is all I can say. It was so great! Kyle, and Carissa meet and Kyle knows she's the one for him for the rest of his life. He just knows. Just like Hendrix, Evan, Anthony, and the rest of them. He knows. Just like the rest of the series, this book puts you on a rollercoaster of emotions, that's for damn sure. I'm crying on one page, and laughing the next page, and then crying again. C has been through so much along with Kyle in their lives growing up, and they are so similar in the way that they've held onto their guilt over what's happened, and none of it is their fault. With C, it reminded me so much of my mom, when she was sick too. This hit home really hard for me. Kyle falls head of heels for C, but he has to wait 3 years for her, and once he has her, he's not going to let anything, and I mean ANYTHING happen to her. C is able to bring Dottie back to life again, and Kyle is over the moon about this. Then the twists start happening........Carson......... OH that man......... Can Kyle get to C in time? What will happen to Heidi? I can't wait to see what the next book brings!! Keep 'em comin'!
My Fave Quotes from the Book
1. There was no way I was letting any boy near my little sister, especially one who may try to kiss her. I'd slingshot their eye out first. - I love that Kyle is so protective over his little sister, and this shows through out the book as to why he's so protective over Carissa.
2. "Because come tomorrow, Princess" - he paused - "you're mine." - The promise he made C 3 years ago.
3. I was on him like white on rice. - My fave saying ever. I say it all the time. I think it's a southern thing. LOL!!
4. That realisation? The seat was Mama's, and the roses were hers. - OMG!!! J.E. I cried like a baby with this scene.
5. "If he's hurt her and I can't save her, I need you to take care of Mama and Heidi for me, yeah?" - OMG!! Kyle asking Ty to this just in case he couldn't save C. :(
* I was given an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review *
If you are looking for a good "ugly cry" book, then this is the one for you!
Kyle is a firefighter who has an ugly and hurtful past. His sister was kidnapped & killed when he was only 12 years old. He was really close to her and they were inseparable. The guilt of his sister being taken while they were at the park consumes him for the next 17 years. When he least expects it, he is knocked on his ass when he sees and meets Carissa for the first time.
Carissa has had a hurtful past as well and is also dealing with guilt of her own. She feels it is her fault her mother who had cancer died. She lets this guilt eat away at her and never mentions it to her dad or sister, Heidi. When Kyle & Carissa first meet, Carissa is enrolled in school and doesn't want to date as it would be a distraction. Their attraction and chemistry is instant and Kyle promised to wait for her for 3 years until she is done with school.
3 years later, they finally start dating, can their love heal their wounds? Can their love put the pieces of their hearts back together?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This one tore my heart apart and put it back together more than once in thsi book. Kyle and Carissa both have lost important people in their lives and both live with so much guilt but the good thing about love is the ones we love some how pull us through the darkness. Also they help pull out other loved ones through the darkness too.
This is book 5 in the Redeeming Love series and can be read as a standalone or like me you can read them all. In this book we get Kyle and Carissa’s story finally for those of us who have felt the connection with these to. I really hope Heidi and Ashley are going to get a story. Edge of seat at end then smiling. Still questions though as in a way it ended abruptly and didn't answer some questions like what happened to ??? & is it connected to the past. So I’m hoping there will be more in this series and that is why it didn’t state those answers. Crazy chick club and Batty Grandmama are still hilarious, but with this growing family and friends we see a more milder version of them now that in prior books. Still love them and they can make you laugh, gasp and cry all at once with some of the things they do. I would love to be in this crazy family. Love that even if you haven't read any of the prior books you get a background on the secondary characters so you never feel like you’re missing out on anything. Each man had their own alpha going on when it came to their women, but think Kyle topped them all with how he is. Caveman is putting it mildly, but one thing is for sure is from that moment or look he knew he'd wait forever if he had too to be with Carissa. True man with this and you'll see what I mean. Kyle and Carissa share something they are trying to find to rid them of any guilt from truly sad experiences they had to endure though Kyle's is worst cause Carissa got time he never could. What guilt you say? Ha, now if I told you that would be a spoiler so just read the book and see. There is not one story that doesn't capture you throughout the whole story and it gives you real life bad things that happen to good people stories that others can relate to. It can be healing for some and eye opening to others. I highly recommend this book or series and each one you fall in love with and as you read the series you fall more in love with them than before. Though I loved them all, this one has topped my emotions the most.
This wonderful story features not only romance, but also the raw depth of emotions behind the facades that the main characters show the world. Both Carissa and Kyle are carrying heavy loads of guilt and heartbreak. Carissa’s emotional baggage is very well hidden from those who surround her.... her outside shell is cheerful, calm and serene. Kyle, however, cannot mask his inner turmoil. It is evident in the quick, intense rages and moments of despair that all can clearly see. When Kyle meets Carissa, they both find a lifeline, someone to mend their tormented souls. Carissa informs him that she wants to wait to date until she has finished school. Kyle tells Carissa that he will wait for her, for however long she needs. He does wait, not necessarily patiently, always in the background, watchful, protective and warning off the other males who are interested in his Carissa. When she finally graduates, they both rush toward each other, knowing instinctively that they are meant for each other. She sets out to rid Kyle of the guilt that is eating away at his soul. Her quiet strength is a balm to his psyche, and he begins to see he needs help to cope and to settle the rages. It takes him a while to discover that Carissa is holding on to her own deeply buried guilt and she needs his support as well. With the support of each other and a tight group of friends and family, they both begin to heal. Yet, there is a dangerous spectre watching and waiting for a chance to disrupt their connection. Will this couple have their happily ever after or be torn apart? Read this insightful, deeply moving story to discover the answer. This story also provides updates on the couples featured in the other books in this series. And as with the other books, Grandmama provides great comic relief with her rather naughty and outrageous shenanigans. I loved this book!
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Plot 5✨ Spice 4🌶️
Broken, angry, and riddled with grief are just a few ways to describe Kyle. Feeling as if he failed everyone in his life he is spiraling out of control. His anger has the shortest fuse and is easily triggered. He is sure that no one would want him or could love him, not that he is looking for someone. That was until he saw her for the first time, in an instant he wanted nothing more than to make her his and protect her. He wanted that more than his next breath but can he wait till she is ready for him?
Losing her mother to cancer at a young age caused Carissa to carry around more guilt than anyone knew. She stepped up to help support herself, her dad, and her younger sister. Working two jobs while attending school has taken everything out of her. She is barely keeping them afloat, she can't afford any distractions not until she graduates in three years. That was not an issue that was until she saw him for the first time, the broken boy turned broken man that made her want things she never had before.
Will Kyle wait three years to make Carissa his? Is there a way that Carissa can fix Kyle's broken soul? What about Carissa's tattered soul, can Kyle fix it as well? They say the past repeats itself, when that happens will Kyle fail once more and lose someone else he loves?
It goes without saying that I love this book, hell I love this whole series. Every book has broken my heart in different ways this one was no different. The amount of hurt and guilt that Kyle has lived with made even my soul want to break. I was screaming along with Carissa that it wasn't his fault. Just like the other books, I loved how Kyle knew he had to fix himself or risk losing Carissa and he started that journey without a second thought. I will never get tired of seeing a broken Female MC that fights through her pain to protect the ones she loves the most. SO FREAKIN GOOD!!!!
Boy, Parker puts you through the wringer right away, with an event so devastating that it affects multiple lives over decades. When we see Kyle Tucker, we see the same angry man that was in the other books. The difference is we now understand how deeply he is broken and why. He meets Carissa Johnson, and sparks fly. He decided to wait for her until she's ready to bed with him.
Kyle is aggressive, possessive, overly judgmental and deeply guilty...but he's just what Carissa decided she needs. As a social worker, she decided to help him...and Kyle clings to her like saran wrap. While Kyle is a southern gentleman in many ways, I would find him suffocating and over the top. But memories crowd Kyle's animated brain constantly, confusing the good natured man desperate to come out. There are really insightful sections of The story that were crafted with style and honesty. When Ty confronts Kyle about using his guilt as an excuse, it's a turning point. It's rare that as a reader we get such nuanced dialogue between men. These friends show the reader that they may act impetuous and emotional at times, but they really have no qualms about being brutally honest with each other. It's refreshing.
The story is flawlessly edited and flows well. You get the feeling that this author has gotten to know these characters so well that she can move from one to another seamlessly. We get more Grandmama, which is always welcome. I have read every book in this series and it's a fabulous slice of life. As a New Yorker, I feel transported to this small town in Georgia, where everyone knows your name and no one gives up on a conflicted person with demons. Nothing is cliche here, except perhaps the delicious pie making. Perhaps it's in the southern gene pool?
Joining beautiful pieces of broken hearts never looked so good
27 February 2019
Format: Kindle Edition
When it's a J.E. Parker book, you can never, ever go wrong. She has a way of writing about topics that you would otherwise not want to see in a romance novel and yet integrate it in the story so well that without it, the story would be incomplete.
Kyle has fallen head over heels in love at first sight with Carissa and like the other boys in the series, became protective of her and her little sister Heidi. Kyle has lived through a harrowing ordeal that left him wanting to protect everyone he loves to a fault.
Carissa on the one hand has been feeling guilty of letting someone go for what she feels like a very selfish reason. She (and Kyle) made a promise to her father that she would finish her degree before getting into a serious relationship and when that time came, nothing and no one can stand in both her and Kyle's way. Their coming together is beautiful and passionate, each carrying broken pieces of their hearts that when fused together created a beautiful piece.
The characters from the previous stories mesh so well together in this hopefully not last book in the series that even if you started in this story you will not get lost. Of course Grandmama and her flyswatter takes centerstage but who cares, she is an integral part of the story and we love her dearly.
I have loved Hendrix from the first book but I think Kyle may have taken over and you have to read it and you'll understand why. Now excuse me while I buy some more tissues...
Every Time We Touch is book 5 in the redeeming Love series by J.E. Parker. The story focuses on Kyle and Carissa. Kyle has had a difficult life since the death of his sister, not only does he blame himself, but he feels like his family do too, leaving him a hollow man, that is until he meets Carissa a woman who enthralls him from the start, and he knows that he has to have her.
Carissa looks after her father and sister after her mother’s death. She carries a lot of guilt due to her mother’s death and the financial struggles that the family are going through. But a chance meeting with Kyle puts her on a different path of love and self-discovery whilst growing as a person.
The book jumps three years from Kyle and Carissa meeting, and we see the angst that both characters go through with their families, and they come to terms with their new relationship. Kyle is quite domineering and really wants to look after Carissa (mainly due to his won trauma), but there isn’t any doubt that he loves her! Carissa is also quite naïve but seems to follow Kyle without having many doubts. She definitely starts to know herself more as the book progresses.
The book focuses a lot on friendship, forgiveness and self-growth and there are quite a few characters to keep track of throughout the book. If you like your books sweet, with a slow burn theme and some angst, then this is the one for you.
How do you mend a broken heart? How do you put a soul to rights when it is consumed by guilt and pain? Kyle lives his life on the sharp edge of anger and surrounded by loneliness. Unfortunately, he likes it that way. That is until he meets Carissa. Now he is consumed by his fascination with her and he waits patiently for her to be done with college. Carissa's dream to be a social worker is what drives her. She has no time for boys. Then she meets Kyle and the world stops. He will do anything for her, including wait three years to go on their first date. When the day finally arrives, everything will change. They both didn't count on very true that was.
I have been waiting for this book ever since these two were introduced. It surpassed everything I hoped it would be and I expected it to be amazing! Kyle and Carissa are two lost souls, heart broken and soul shattered. Their stories, their pasts will tear you up; Kyle's especially. I don't know that I can adequately express how much these two mean to me, as all the characters of J.E. Parker's have a special place in my heart. Kyle and Carissa, though are at the top. Their journey is consuming, just like their love and I didn't want it to end! Ten stars for Every Time We Touch!
Loved It! As all the books in this series, a very emotional story. It will make you laugh and cry. The whole gang is back together again. This was Kyle and Carissa's love story. Kyle suffered a very traumatic experience growing up, which left him loaded with guilt and pain and broken. Carissa suffered her own guilt and pain when she lost her Mom to cancer. She became the backbone of her family, when her Dad and little sister fell apart, she kept them together. When they were together, Carissa calmed Kyle's soul and mended his broken heart piece by piece; and when Carissa's Dad was on the road for days, Kyle took it upon himself, to become her protector. They had an instant connection and their chemistry was combustible. They became each other's person, and their bond and love was unbreakable. I don't want to say too much, cause I don't want to give anything away. Read this book, you won't be disappointed. It is a stand alone story, but I recommend reading the whole series in order, so you can get the backstory on all the couples and characters, especially Grandmama. She is a real hoot! Love this series and cannot wait to read the next book and see who will get their HEA!
