Rescuing half naked damsels in distress had not been in his plans. All Big Jake McCauley wanted to do was work his claim in the asteroid belt. But, now he’s pissed off one of the most powerful men in this section of the galaxy. Not a good way to start the day.

Murder on an ore processing ship

Taurian Empire number 5 deals with individuals not politics, war or aliens.
It is primarily a mystery-thriller, murder, conspiracies, asteroid mining

Well written and entertaining. I downloaded this book via Kindle Unlimited.

An excellent series

It's kind of nice that the good guys in this series don't come from "Officers Country" I really appreciate the plug for the enlisted people. By the way one USAF Master Sergeant in my squadron retired with a masters degree in mathematics along with 2 bachelor degrees in engineering and physics. Granted this stage is science fiction, however interplanetary and interstellar space is a proving ground for Darwin's 1st and ,2nd laws (#2- Stupidly is self-correcting) Enough philosophy; I really enjoyed this series. Mr. Johnson has made it to one of my go-to authors. Like to see some more in this series.
