Deze serie over Max Modderman is gewoonweg hilarisch. De grappen, de gebeurtenissen, de reacties van de personages. Alles is grappig. Het sluit heel goed aan bij de belevingswereld van kinderen en de vrienden van Max zijn altijd herkenbaar en hebben echt hun eigen rol. Bibi Nobel weet bijvoorbeeld alles altijd beter, Hugo loopt achter Max aan en Eend doet dat ook.
In dit deel heeft Pip 5 puppy’s gered, maar dat moet geheim blijven. Ze vraagt de vrienden om hulp en dat komen ze natuurlijk helpen. De eerste zin van het boek, zet al meteen de toon: “Dat ding in de wc is misschien toevallig bruin, maar dat betekent NIET dat je het gelijk moet doortrekken.”
Max (en Hugo) moeten een presentatie geven over een bedreigd dier, maar dat hebben ze natuurlijk vergeten voor te bereiden. Max improviseert dat zij de panda hebben gekozen en zullen de komende week dus geld gaan ophalen voor de panda’s. Max moet al zijn talenten inzetten.
Ik heb alle boeken tot nu toe voorgelezen in de klas en ben ook met deze begonnen. De leerlingen vinden het geweldige verhalen. Hoewel de hoofdpersoon Max 11 jaar is, is het boek ook zeker voor iets jongere kinderen leuk om te lezen of voorgelezen te worden.

This is another great kids story (I read it to my daughter) but I don't think it is quite at the level of some of the others in the series so far. More crazy escapades for Max and his friends, all in the spirit of raising money for endangered animals!
