With Yoshon finding out more about Golden’s past, he has a decision to make. Does he want to continue to learn more about her? Or does he end things because she broke his one rule - don’t lie to him? Except, Yoshon hasn’t been truthful when it comes to Golden either. Will their lies bring them closer together or pull them apart? All of Yolani’s secrets are spilling out the closet and she’s not done yet. When she finds out Big Ben is coming home, more skeletons are sure to come crawling out of her closet. With her and Hazel’s relationship up in the air, does she fight to get her woman and best friend back? Or does she continue to push the people who care the most about her, out of her life? With Yoshon in the dark about Yolani’s small habit, does Pit Pat blow the whistle on her? Or does Pit Pat push it under the rug? When Golden finds out Grand is moving to New York, she tries to flee. Will Yoshon protect her or feed her to the wolf she’s been running from?
Well dang Jahquel!!!! This was a gripping read that kept me invested in the characters and their lives. I did struggle with the number of editing errors, which were distracting at times. I felt the cliffhanger coming and still can’t believe it ended that way—definitely has me curious about what’s next.
Yolani done lost her mind. Grand popping back up was unexpected, but Yoshon definitely gonna make sure Golden straight. I’m interested to see if Denim has a savage side🤔. I secretly think that Grape and Mo booing, but I could be wrong. Alicia is so damm naive. I’m curious to know why Hazels mom don’t care for her. Yolani is spiraling and with the revelation about Big Ben coming home, I wonder how that will play out.... #MustRead #PageTurner
Yolani and Hazel are a mess. Hazel leaves Yolani and runs to Denim but something doesn’t sit right with me about Denim. I love Golden and Yoshon together, both mature and resolve conflict within their relationship with respect for the next one. The cliffhangers are getting to me!
4-star read messy, high-tension drama with nonstop twists and secrets stacking up fast. The ending is a wild cliffhanger that frustrates you but still keeps you hooked enough to continue the series. I'm tired of these cliffhangers. This could have been ONE solid 5-star story 🙄📖
Man, this was worst than book 1... Thought it would have been better!!!
This story is definitely lacking. I mean the author does have a nice writting style and with no grammatical error or typos in sight made a huge difference but the emotional side of the story was just lame and lacking. Everything felt forced. Take Golden and Yoshon. I mean it's ok the aged gap and difference but somethings feels so not right with these two. I mean Golden hit right out of the ball park with her reasoning regarding baby girl, while Yoshon's explanation didn't make sense since he supposedly got over his ex yet he went ahead to do something like that and will be reminded for the rest of his life of his ex, because baby girl looks just like her??? Duh.... Meanwhile, this thiing with Grand is not gonna go away and suddenly, Golden is so in love she will move for a couple months to be with Yoshon??? Man, get out of here... Now take Hazel/ Yolani/ Denim. This truly doesn't feel right at all. Is she a lesbian or what? One minute she loves girls and the next she is so in love with Denim that nothing will change that but she goes over and gives Yolani this big proclamation of still loving her and all. Wow.. Really, stuck on stupid... This story could have been perfect, because not everyone can tackle such a sensitive subject as lgbq and still made it fun to read for all audiences, but the ball stops there. Yoshon is a 38 year old man who is acting like a 25 year old and Yolani is just too man for anyone even herself and yet she can't handle all of those life changes, so she turn to the white friend. Then you have the grandma with so much secrets that is revealed where it leaves no choice but for Yoshon to step up and assume the position, huh..shut your mouth!!! And last but not least, you have Grand showing his true colors but no one can stop him, man this is too much and not driven enough to be enjoyable. I don't think I am going to continue but will check out other books from this author.
OMGGGG THE ENDLESS DRAMA. I KNEW SINCE THERE IS A THIRD BOOK THAT THE SITUATIONS WOULD ONLY HEIGHTEN. I WILL SAY THE CLIFFHANGER IN THIS BOOK WAS OBVIOUS AND KNEW SHE MADE AN IMMEDIATE WRONG DECISION AS SOON AS SHE STATED WHAT SHE WAS GOING TO DO. BUT THERE WERE SOME EMOTIONAL PARTS OF THE BOOK AS WELL. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ & YOU KNOW I’D NEVER NOT RECOMMEND HER SERIES!!!
Yet another enjoyable read that I could not put down. I’m glad that Golden is finally happy...loved the relationship between Yoshon and herself. Just a match made in heaven...that is until the beast decides to show his head. So close and yet so far, poor Alicia..if she only knows. Yolani is just out of control .... something needs to be done. The end is not looking too bright for her. In this read I can’t help but to think Denim is too perfect....something is not right with him..guess we will know in book three. Fantastic job!
What an ending to this book?? Mo told Hazel not to go alone and look what happen i hope that her and they baby are okay, Yolani needs her ass kicked for real and to lay off those drugs. I’m happy that Yoshon and Golden made it work, even though Golden was ready to throw the towel in when Yoshon said he was having a baby but i love the way they love each other can’t wait for part 3.
My heart was in my throat waiting for the other shoe to drop. Truth of the matter is sometimes you have to choose yourself and not everyone is going to be okay about it.
This is a good plot. The grammatical errors and lack of proofreading make it impossible to rate the book more than 3 🌟. I will repeat this until the cows come home: Jahquel J. is an extremely talented storyteller. Her creativity is great to experience. However, some of the errors were too egregious to overlook.
Now... Hazel made me mad and sad. Thank goodness Golden got her mind right. Gyan fills my heart right on up! His man to man talk with Yoshon was ao endearing. Pit Pat is the real MVP. Yolani... a devil, period. Alicia is gonna learn the hard way, I'm sure. Yoshon and Yaya 🥰🥰 a good read for real.
Yolani being the Brownsville Bully is my 13th reason. Anyone care to explain to me WHY the cover is a male? (As for the old cover- a male and a seemingly hetero woman?) I’m genuinely confused and a tad bit pissed if I’m being honest.
Mind you everyone this has two ongoing storylines and the main one, or certainly the most interesting, is a stud woman and her childhood lover turned wife.
I’m sick of Grand and Yolani 🙄 they have stressssssssssssssed me out this whole book. Can’t wait to see what happens in 3 because you can’t trust a narcissist or a crackhead in my opinion lmao. I am however happen for Golden and Yoshon but know things are gonna amplify in the next book.
I'm glad Golden didn't have any ill feelings when she found out about the surrogate. Yolani needs some sense knocked into her I don't care who does it, but hurry up and do it. After the way book 2 left off my money is on Denim or Pit Pat, or maybe Hazel gonna get her get back

Though I really enjoyed this series and love Golden and her man (child…I have no idea how to begin to spell his name), I’d still rate this as a three-star read. It felt a little rushed, and around 77% it randomly started spitting out, verbatim, about five minutes’ worth of the exact wording from book 2 referencing Denim and Hazel’s past life. Leave it to me to catch that…
But… OH THE FAMILY DRAMA 😰
It still gives full telenovela energy and it’s super short, but wow is it drama-filled. I do love the new addition(s) to the story, although I’m a little worried about one of them going into the next book 😭.
Either way, I’m still hooked on Ms. Jahquel. And since SEVERAL of my library holds came in this week, I’ll definitely be continuing the ride lol.

I don't understand how Yolani was mad at Hazel, when she was the one that f-ed everything up. Yolani wanted to have her cake, and eat it too. First, she wanted the streets, then she wanted to cheat, and finally put her hands on Hazel when she felt like it. Hazel had a man that adored her, that loved her in the way she needed to be loved, so what was a girl to do? I understood that it wasn't all on Lani, but most of it was.
Hazel deserved better than what Lani was giving her. Hazel was wrong for sleeping with both Denim and Lani at the same time, but when she loved Lani, she loved her, and it wasn't reciprocated, and that wasn't fair to Hazel. Denim was the best person for Hazel, and it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Lani had to get over the fact that she lost in her little game, and that she lost the best thing that ever happened to her. Lani needed help fast, before she hurt herself, or worse, hurt someone that didn't deserve it. I also hope that the baby is ok.
I absolutley loved the storyline of Golden and Yoshon..... they were relationship goals. The way that Yoshon loved Golden, was exactly how she deserved to be loved. The love was gentle, admirable, and it came at the perfect time. The relationship between Gyan and Yoshon was a very beautiful thing, and it gave me life. If anyone deserved love, it was both Golden and Yoshon. Now with Yoshon being the heir to be the head of the cartel, I wondered would his mentality change? Would his position, interfere with the love he had for Golden?
This second installment dives deeper into the emotional fallout of the first book, shifting the focus from survival to trust, truth, and consequences. The story leans heavily into relationship tension and character flaws, making it a dramatic and sometimes frustrating but very engaging read.
Golden and Yoshon’s relationship is tested as secrets and half-truths come to light. The love is present, but so is fear, fear of abandonment, betrayal, and the past repeating itself. Yoshon is forced to confront what he’s willing to forgive, while Golden struggles between staying and running when danger resurfaces.
Meanwhile, Yolani’s storyline adds another layer of emotional complexity. Her unresolved issues and poor decisions strain her relationship with Hazel, showing how avoidance and pride can damage even the strongest bonds. These parallel storylines reinforce the idea that love alone isn’t enough honesty and accountability matter just as much.
The return of threats from Golden’s past raises the stakes and reminds readers that escaping trauma isn’t always as confirming as starting over. Tension steadily builds, leading to a cliffhanger that makes it clear this story is far from over.
Overall, this installment is messy, emotional, and raw in the way urban romance often is. The characters are deeply flawed, the drama is intense, and the ending leaves you needing answers. Fans of the series will appreciate the depth and buildup, even when some character decisions are hard to watch.
lOVING some Pit Pat.... Everyone should have a grandmother like her... The bomb she just dropped on Yosh / Lani omg. As ususal Yolani looked at things all wrong, she just likes the coke and power. I would have turned all my back on her, as drugs are an issue, but her mentality is way Effed up. Gyan is a little charmer, and they way he spoke to Yoshan about his mommy about not hurting her, Golden has raised him correctly, as she worries about him and her safety. Yoshan, he is a great dude to the people around him, and he and Golden share something really really special, and their bond is good, eventhough he may have handled her reaction about thebaby wrong, she was able to make him understand, why she felt the way she did. Hazel... I hope she does not loose Denim's baby, but she was so blinded in trying to be in love with Yolani, she ignored all the signs that Yolani had issues, and she knew about yolani's hand problem. what happened to Cherry, and why has no one addressed her "accident" (GRAPE). Why are women so set on getting the bag, and how to be upgraded in some imaginary circle to impress others, that you are willing to settle on a man with a bunch a kids, believing everything he says about his past? Alicia is a pregnant dummy, Your lips got bitten with blood, but you are still there?? I really like this series, book one almost made me not want to read 2, but I am glad I did!!!! GREAT JOB, WAITING ON BOOK 3
Ok Yolani’s butt has completely lost her forever drug abused mind. Lani needs to seriously seek help because her secret is out and her family is not the ones thats going to deal with her addiction. I’m glad that Hazel went on about her business and had a prompt unexpected wedding to Denim and she got her baby. When Hazel went to Lani to clear the air and talk it out, Hazel saw that Lani came to the door higher than a kite, she should have followed her first mind and tried that conversation another day with another person going with her. I pray Hazel and the baby is ok.
Yoshon and Golden are the cutest couple. It seems like they are moving fast as a road runner with their relationship, him being a father figure to her son, and now he is a father to his first child. I was really surprised at my girl Golden for being accepting and standing by her man to care for his daughter. Now, let’s talk about Golden’s ex-husband Grand. Oh boy, if Grand only knew to just gone on ahead and tuck his tail between his leg and bow out gracefully, it would be in his best interest. Yoshon I know is going to get Grand all the way together when it comes down to him disrupting Golden and her son’s life. Yoshon and Golden is a match made in heaven and I pray that they make it and continue to thrive as a family.
I can't believe that Yolanie pushed Hazel down the stairs like that. She really like pried her hands from the banister then put her foot in her back n kicked her down the stairs wow. Then really like stepped over her to go back to sniffing coke like ain't nothing happened. She didn't even bother to check to see if she was okay. I knew Hazel should have bounced when Yolanie looked high when she came to the door smh. Denim is going to have a freaking fit whenever he finds out n no telling wat he might do either. I just hope that Hazel n the baby r okay. She should have took someone wit her at least. I'm so happy for Yoshan wit his new baby girl. I'm glad that things r going well for him n Golden. I'm glad that they were able to make up n stay together cuz I know that Grand is just waiting in the wings to just start some more trouble man. I want her to tell Yoshan about them phone calls he been making to her phone. I just pray that he doesn't catch her out n about n try to do something to her man. I'm damn happy that Hazel left Yolanie ass cuz she don't deserve her at all. Denim makes her so happy n caters to her as he should. Man this series is so damn good man. Great job! This was fire right here! Can't wait to read part 3! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
😮💨📚 Married to the Brownsville Bully 2 by Jaquel J.
Whew… this second book picked right back up with the mess and didn’t let off the gas. The drama got deeper, the emotions got heavier, and the consequences started hitting harder.
That love triangle? Still chaotic. Feelings are tangled, loyalty is questionable, and everybody is moving off emotion instead of sense. Hazel is really in the thick of it now, and the pregnancy just adds another layer of stress, fear, and vulnerability that you can feel through the pages.
Yolani continues to spiral, making reckless choices that had me shaking my head like, girl please get it together. Denim stays Denim — complicated, intense, and impossible to ignore. And Yoshaun? Still coming through as that quiet presence who keeps proving he’s more important than people realize.
This book does a good job of showing that love doesn’t cancel chaos, and marriage doesn’t magically fix broken situations. Everybody’s past, trauma, and ego keep clashing, and it makes the story feel raw and real.
By the end, I was locked in and ready for more because the story is clearly far from over. This series knows how to keep you stressed, invested, and flipping pages.
Whew… this second book said “if you thought the first one was messy, hold my drink
Everybody in this story is spiraling in their own way and nobody is safe. Golden and Yoshon are still trying to hold onto their love, but trust is shaky on both sides. Like y’all love each other but also keep hiding stuff… so of course it’s chaos. And still… I was rooting for them because when they’re good, they’re REALLY good.
Then we got Yolani… baby, at this point she is a walking warning sign drugs, secrets, emotional destruction—just pure instability. Every time she shows up I already know peace is about to leave the chat.
Hazel and Denim storyline had me going back and forth too. One minute I’m like “okay I see it,” next minute I’m like “this is not stable at ALL.” Everybody is loving wrong in this book and it shows.
What I will say is Jahquel knows how to keep a story moving even when it’s messy. It’s drama on drama on drama, but it keeps you invested because you NEED to know what happens next. And of course… that ending? Yeah, I was irritated but hooked.
Not perfect, definitely chaotic, but entertaining in that “I can’t stop reading even when I’m stressed” kind of way.
