I am not the target audience for this book, which is subtitled "Pastoral Responses." I'm neither a pastor nor even a Christian. But this book explained three important facts: first, it takes an entire community (or congregation, according to the book) to heal the pain of suicide survivors, both of victims and of their friends and family. Second, there are clear, evidence-based guidelines for how to practice suicide prevention and post-suicide crisis management. Third, it is utterly destructive to villainize and shame suicide survivors. But I did have to translate plenty of consideration for churches, congregations, pastors and God into a secular format in order to make this book relevant to me. So, if you're religious and interested in the above points, this book will probably be a five-star experience for you.
