When her brother dies in the earthquakes that destroy Silverpines, Elena Somersville knows she needs protection from the ruthless gunslinger, Mace Thorne. Her brother's gambling habit had betrothed her to the outlaw and now there is no one to keep him at bay. A mail order husband seems the only way to keep Mace from collecting his debt.
Tobias Clayborne vows to avenge his best friend and his wife’s death at the hands of the notorious gunslinger. When he discovers Mace Thorne has a wife waiting for him in Silverpines, he responds to a mail-order husband advertisement in order to search and kidnap the gunslinger’s wife and use her as bait to lure the killer.
Little does Tobias know that Elena, his intended bride he never had any intention of developing feelings for, is promised to a man he despises. Her deception at Tobias's expense keeps Elena from opening her heart to the stirrings of love growing between them
When their secrets are exposed, will her brother's past prevent Elena from having her happy ever after? Can this Man of Honor save the woman he loves from the outlaw he hates?

Elena and Tobias promise each other for better or for worse. However, their marriage is in name only, because problem childhoods have soured both of them to the idea of marriage. I enjoyed the fun Wild West quirkinesses of the book. Tobias had a John Wayne quality about him. This book is a good throwback read. I liked the strength of mind and will that both displayed. They both admire, value hard work and an honorable system of personal values. However , for better or for worse is an apt description of this story. The author wanted to leave you in NO doubt of how much each of the main characters despised the other sex with sweeping generalizations. Their whining monologue on the subject was over-the-top and annoying. Also, it is hard for me to picture someone with the personality of Mace Thorne not taking Elena immediately. There is nothing in his character that seems to say he would have the patience, mercy, or will-power to wait for something he wants. However, overall I loved the characters in the small town of Silverpines, and hope that I can read more of their stories.

Elena's brother promised her hand in marriage to a horrible outlaw, to cover his debts. She's been dreading her 19th birthday when he'll come for her. Seeking protection instead of a real marriage, she advertises for a man on honor with blacksmith skills. Tobias' friends were brutally murdered by an outlaw and Tobias is out for revenge. He's come up with a plan to try to kidnap the outlaw's wife to draw him out, if he can locate her. Silverpines is the place to do that and agreeing to a marriage of convenience seems the best way to move into town. Both of these poor people had extreme prejudices against the opposite sex, from their upbringing. It was cute to see them realize good in others is possible and see how well suited they were. This was a clean, sweet romance. I loved it! I also liked how they were each others' firsts.
Very good storyline with typical Silverpines characters. I really liked that Tobias was a virgin. That has not been openly stated about the heroes elsewhere in the series. I have 2 small quibbles about the book, though. I would have liked an epilogue set 6 months to a year later is the first. Also, a bit of an 'oops' I saw in chapter 4. Elena was telling Dr. Hattie that she preferred her herbal treatments over valium. The story is set in 1899 and valium was developed and first sold in the 1960s. Oops!
Man of Honor is a broad term. Elena is hoping for best. I love that new characters were introduced in this book with complicated pasts. The realistic way Elena and Tobias interacted was great. When they were arguing, it just reminded me of a few arguments I had with my spouse. I was smiling as I was reading that. The only thing that was not 5 stars was that I felt the ending was a bit rushed. However, the ending set up the next book great.
Wanted: Man of Honor is a quick, clean, enjoyable historical romance. I liked the characters. They are believable and relatable; their choices are understandable and reasonable. (Something noticeably absent in some romance books I’ve read lately.) The story arc moved quickly, and I found myself turning pages to find out what would happen to Tobias and Elena. I recommend this to anyone looking for a light, clean read.
This is the 7th book in the Silverpines series. The heroine, Elena, has been mentioned in previous books, particularly the story with Sally and Mason the gunsmiths. Like many of the characters in this series she's pretty inventive at coming up with ideas to succeed. The hero, Tobias, and the heroine have reasons to be wary of marriage and reasons to hate the bad guy. It's a compelling, interesting story.
Her brother has ran up some huge gambling debts and now she is engaged to the man he owes money to. She does not like him at all. So she is need of saving. A stranger arrives who is after revenge against him so he intends to take the bride. What happens if they really connect? Will she be saved? Will he get his revenge? See how it will all end

Another great addition to the Silverpines series with Elena and Tobias and their story. She is seeking protection from a man that her brother was indebted to so she places an ad for a husband and that husband to be is Tobias. They have both deceived each other so can a relationship really work out.

I love mail order bride books because they show both sides to the story and they are always so well written and the characters are so involved that I just had to get to the end to see if Tobias and Elena would make it. Awesome book.

This was another great book in this series. The suspense and truth of what people will do for those they love and for those who need help. The truth of how bad people try to get what is not theirs and get rid of people who stand up against them. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
I liked the book the plot was a good one in keeping with the series. The characters were both good, the damsel in distress and the hero if I had one complaint it was just too short that is why I only gave it four stars
This is a great series written by a really good group of authors. I really enjoyed this book. It made me smile and had me hoping for this couple to find love. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
This is a great story. I loved the many conflicts and the way they were corrected. Silverpines is still cleaning up and recovering from the two earthquakes that took almost all the men. I love the series and each book can be read as a stand a lone book.
Parker J. Cole wrote a great story of self preservation, revenge and love. How you can combine those three things and have a captivating story, but she did a great job. Elena is such a strong woman it was fun reading her story!
Another wonderful installment in the Silverpines Series. This is my first book by Parker J.Cole and it was a great ,easy read.Loved the story and her mail order husband Tobias. So Good I couldn’t put it down.
Can a marriage that starts for the wrong reasons be a success? What will happen when secrets got revealed? Can Elena and Tobias make their marriage work? Every book in this series is a fun read. I ready enjoy reading the ‘mail order groom’ concept. Looking forward to read the next in this series.

I loved this book! The Silverpines series is a satisfying adventure. Parker J Cole book is a wonderful addition to the series. You won't be disappointed
Loved this couple. Wasn't sure how the author was going to make it all work out. Really enjoying all the books in the series so far. Definitely recommend.
The seventh book in the Silverpines Series is well written and part of the series I have wanted to read. Elena Somersville puts out an ad for a mail order husband. Tobias Clayborne answers as he wants Mace Thorne a man who killed his best friend and the friends wife. Mace Thorne was promised Elena through her brother who is now dead, but Elena does not want him. What happened kept me turning pages. This is a quick, clean story to read.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
