I've been pretty sure Burke was my was my mate from the first time I saw him on the screen he and his brother were using to talk to each other from two different places. But as long as my leopard doesn't smell him, I can give us both the time we need to get our lives together. The key is not meeting him physically, until the time is right. The day I walk into my best friend's house and smell the most amazing scent on the air, I know that I've run out of time to get my crap figured out. In person, he's everything I've ever dreamed he'd be. And I'm all too happy to claim him. But he's been attacked by a shifter, and just found out he's chosen. I don't want to spring this on him too, and end up making him run back to Georgia, like he's always threatening. What I don't realize, is that my fear of scaring my mate, is actually breaking his heart. Can I make it right with Burke? And can I save him from a crazed, shifter stalker, who is convinced Burke is his?
Burke Hilliard
I think I might be going crazy. Maybe it's all the work. Maybe it's my creepy, stalkerish lab partner. But only a mental break can explain said creepy lab partner's face going all scary, and him attacking and biting me. Right? When I go to Purdy, Nebraska to get away from it all and visit my adopted brother Sutton, it comes with a special surprise. My brother's best friend of five years. The one I've never actually met, but have been in constant battle with for almost as long. The man I've secretly had the biggest crush on, since the very first time he annoyed and then bossed me, while I was video chatting my brother. When I learn about shifters and mates, and what the mark on my rear-end is all about, I finally understand this draw I've always had to the annoying man. But if that is true, then why isn't Foster saying anything? Am I alone in this crazy pull? And is it too much to ask for him to drop that stupid nickname, and continue to call me baby?
Warning: Mpreg elements!
Also, my books have little to no angst, and lots and lots of fluff! They are better read in order, because I kind of write them like a continuation of a story, and I don't like to repeat explanations over and over if I can help it. No cheating, because that makes my heart hurt. Sorry, I just don't want anyone being disappointed if they like the angst filled heart-rippers. These read more like a romantic comedy than a romantic drama.
In the fourth installment of this run-on M/M mpreg shifter series, FBI fox shifter, Foster Bryant, finally comes face-to-face with his destined mate, Burke Hilliard—who, as fate would have it, is the baby brother of Foster’s long-time bestie, Sutton (MC from book three).
Although Foster and Burke have been aware of one another for years, they’d only ever interacted whenever sharing video calls with Sutton present. Foster always assumed, even though he couldn’t scent him, that beautiful, smart-mouthed, intellectually inclined, and very human Burke was his mate, choosing to keep his distance while Burke grew into a man and Foster continued to work tirelessly for the FBI in hunting down ongoing threats to shifters and humans alike.
But now, after a surprise shifter encounter leaves Burke scared and fleeing to his brother’s (and subsequently Foster’s) side, Foster can’t deny the mate pull any longer. Sharing with Burke the truth about the shifters, and explaining to him the meaning of mates and the “chosen” mark Burke wears on his butt, is just extra kindling to add to Burke’s spitfire personality and his long-standing sassy repartee with Foster.
Learning of the existence of shifters is a lot to take in, and realising you’re a male capable of having babies is an even more challenging truth to accept, but for Burke it definitely helps that his brother is already in the know and that he already fully trusts Foster, even if most of the time he can’t decide if he’d prefer to climb the man like a tree or smack the sexy bastard’s smirk right off his goading face.
The dynamic here was Fun with a capital F. Always a fan of best-friends-brother tropes, this one certainly left a smile on my face with all the smart-mouthed banter volleying back and forth in the midst of their undeniable sexual tension. For me, Foster and Burke were easily the best couple of the series to date.
Even though the stories move at break-neck speed, with some editing issues still present and not much in the way of character or relationship depth, it’s still fun and romantic and growly in all the right ways! Sometimes you just need mindless, easy stories to help you escape reality for a bit—and this series is definitely that for me. <3
I’m just going to read this whole series now, all 23 books. I can’t stop and I’m so enjoying them.
Burke is Sutton’s (adoptive) brother, who was attacked by a crazed shifter (bitten but not hurt) at school, and then ran to Sutton because he was panicking.
But Sutton is in the middle of a leap of shifters and only just found his mate. And he also found out his best friend is a fox shifter. So when Burke arrives at Sutton’s place, all he sees are all these men walking around in nothing but sweatpants. And of course the hottest of them all, Sutton’s best friend, Foster.
When Burke finds out shifters are real, he’s not crazy, and that Foster is his mate, and oh yeah, he can have babies, he’s a bit out of his depth. But the most important part is that Foster is his, the rest can be dealt with later…
I just love all these guys. These books are fluffy, sweet and incredibly cheesy. So if the cheese is often too strong for you, stay away from this series. I’m just loving all of these books. Onto the next!
I liked this book better than the other three. It still had the same issues for me but this time there was actually some plot twists that made it interesting. I enjoyed some sarcastic banter between Foster and Burke. It felt as if a little more effort was put in writing it. And while reading first part of the book I was surprised at how good it actually was but then abruptly the editing stopped it seems and it was littered with lots of mistakes. I seriously considered this book a 3.5 stars but all the typos just stopped me from enjoying it more.
Cute if a bit rushed. I loved Burke and Foster and their banter back and forth. And call me crazy or whatever but I was happy to hear Foster never touched another person as soon as he knew Burke was his mate 3 years ago, even though they hadn't had any interaction other than quick squabbles over video. Phew! That was a long sentence lol. Anyway, this series is turning out to be how I like my mate stories.
The couple at the forefront of the story are always adorable, and I found myself intrigued by the underlying plot that seems to be going on in the series.
I like that we still get to see the previous couples and everything is interconnected.
This book managed to be just a bit better than book 3! Love the ongoing case that Foster is investigating about a cult that ties these books together. Burke and Foster are great together!
This series is making for a great weekend read-a-thon! Although, my forehead is getting a bit sore from banging it on my reader every time I come across another typo or editing error! *headdesk* LOL!!!
He thinks and speaks like this old broad. "Let's go, Todd, Copper's getting hungry."... I chuckled at the first Copper joke, but that one? I cackled, loudly, at that one. I'm thinking of changing my name to Bunny after that, cause he is totally somehow a spawn of mine. Bennett has the best lines and this wasn't even his book. I'm keeping that kid.
Ok, Foster and Burke are my favorites. Aside from way too much giggling, they were cute and the banter between them was fun. We're finally starting to get more into the heart of things so it's on to the next one I go.
I loved Foster and Burke's relationship, especially since Foster and Burke's brother, Sutton, have been friends for years. But once Foster meets Burke in less than an ideal situation, he knows the younger man is his mate. This is a great addition to the series!
Please note that I enjoyed this book and this series. The book itself should have received four stars except the author and her publisher\editor have proven to be too lazy to proofread the book to check for obvious spelling and grammatical inaccuracies. I understand that this is a free book with kindle unlimited but that shouldn't let the author lose pride in her work or the editors to not do their job properly. Anyway, on to the review: Book four of this series follows the same formula that the previous ones have followed; not meets man, not gets offended by man, man must prove he is not a total douche. Throw in some personal intrigue storyline and a dash of over arching storyline for the series and you have the latest book. The characters are absolutely adorable and instantly you want to be friends with them. There isn't much plot development to this series. The author concentrates on giving little clues over the series overarching plotline in each book, but the main plot for each book is grossly glossed over. You learn in this book that Burke was attacked by another shifter who thought he was his mate but you never learn why or how or even have the drama that leads up to the dramatic conclusion. However, if you want to read a book that is all about sex than this is the book for you. The author spends more time on the sex scenes than on the storyline. By the way, ALL of the sex scenes in these books are formulaic and the same in each of the four books. They are such fast reads that I read three in about four hours. I was really hoping they would improve. Wow, this turned out to be more of a rant than a review. Sorry about that.
Another great addition to the Chosen universe. I understand that Foster had responsibilities and foxes are solitary creatures but I actually would be quite miffed that mine tried to stay away from me for 3 years on purpose. What was a saving grace for me personally was that he didn't get his rocks off with anybody else during that time. I know that they weren't an item yet but I can't help myself.
Sometimes you realize everything you've ever wanted is staring you in the face.
What a great continuation of the Chosen saga. I couldn't put it down. All the snark and sass is back, along with all our old friends. You will get drawn in from the start. I am loving this series! Continuing the ongoing story, this book concentrates on Foster and Burke. College student Burke has lusted after Foster since the first video chat. Meeting him in person turns his world upside down. FBI agent, fox shifter Foster, believed Burke was his mate. When an attack has Burke fleeing to his best friend's for safety, he runs right into Foster's waiting arms. Foster will do anything to protect his "Baby". His Chosen. They will have to overcome missed cues, assumptions, and disbelief to finally get together. Along the way they will also face dangers, find courage, acceptance, and loyal friends. You will love this book! If you haven't already done so, I recommend reading the first three books of this series. You will be glad you did. I can't wait to read book five to see what happens next. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Weirdly, the main reason this got such a high rating from me is because of how lowly I kind of want to rate the others. I mean, the series is cute n all, but I couldn't help wanting to throw it after the 358th repetition of the 80-syllable pet names. It doesn't help that despite most of the omegas Knowing what Mates are, they kept seeming to forget how they worked, with the whole, I know mates mate for life, and that my mate has been literally fawning all over me since we made eye contact, but he probably doesn't like me.
In contrast, Call Me Baby stuck to a SIMPLE pet name that could be repeated without causing the protagonists to sound mentally challenged, and the interactions seemed far more plausible. I actually highlighted witty dialogue and found myself enjoying the text. I made it through the series because my friends recommended it, and I applaud authors for being brave enough to pursue their passions AND share them with us, AND I do like the general idea of this series, but moving forward, if NOTHING else changes, please Please, JD, consider using simpler pet names, and/or not repeating them 61 times per book (an actual count for Hot Stuff).
This series kind reminds me of the stuff Kiki Burrelli writes. Short (like 100 pages, can get through it in an evening), fated mate, low angst kinda fluff. There is mention of an attempted assault, but the MC turns the tables on the perpetrator which I appreciated as so often books show the "weaker" MC as a helpless victim waiting for his knight in shining armor to rescue him.
The FBI agent shifter fox Foster knows Burke is his mate, but has been staying away because Burke was only 18. Now 21 and in danger Foster and Burke work together to quell the threat to the leopard shifter group and their mates.
While not as funny as some of the other books, its still a solid 3.
While I’m not reviewing each book in the series – they are all really good! I think each book can be read on it’s own, but each book adds on to the one behind it – so you might as well read them all in order!
This time we have sweet Burke and Foster. Their story was set up in book 3 and pays off here. Burke is pretty hysterical and Foster doesn’t let him get away with a thing!
If you like mpreg – this series is all about that, but not in each book, specifically.
There is some shifting but not as much as I’d like, but each story is short so…
In any case these are fun, sexy and a quick light read.
It is best to read this series in order to understand the back ground story running throughout.
This is another sweet shifter story with hints of MPreg but so far nothing on the page just that mates with a birth make can become pregnant male or female. In this book Sutton 's younger brother Burke turns up after being attacked, Sutton's best friend Foster know a that Burke is his mate but has been avoiding meeting him to give him time to grow older, but now all best are off and he is going to find the shifter who tried to force a mating on his baby. It's cute and sweet, I loved the new word and will be using it.
This was just as cute and fun as the previous three books. I love how all the couples come together to support each other, and some were there to help ease, Burke, into the shifter world. These stories are awesome with a mystery that's going on in the background that I'm curious about. I really appreciate how these characters actually communicate with each other so that there's no misunderstandings, or at least, no hurt feelings. The stories stick to the point, and are excellently written. I'm on to the next. =)
📚CALL ME BABY is a good addition to the CHOSEN series written by J.D. Light. 💓This is the fourth book of the series and features Foster and Burke as they discover that they are destined to be mates and begin their life together. 🔎 I encourage you to read this series by beginning with Book 1 and then continuing to read the books in the order of their release because there is an ongoing story/mystery happening throughout the series.
This is Burke, Sutton’s little brother and Foster (Sutton’s best friend) the Fox shifter that has been eluding the pack though he hasn’t been trying. So, in this one, we get the Best friend's brother type story. If you like a good shifter book, with some humor, light angst in a few stories and interesting plots this series is absolutely great! I recommend the narration. Kenneth Obi gives these stories so much life and excitement.
This is a shifter/paranormal suspense romance series, the fourth book in the series and it has to be read in order! There is danger after the MC was attacked and he finds out that the world is not as he thought it was with an unknown paranormal world all around him! Seriously go back to book one to start this series as they literally read like one continuous story.
Foster & Burke crack me up, I love the chemistry between them but I also love the friendly teasing and being able to have fun and not be serious All the time! I’m so angry at the people trying to hurt this wonderful family! This series keeps getting better with each book! Off to read more!! ❤️❤️😀😀
In The Chosen series, J.D. Light writes sweet, love at first sight, fated mates stories that are novellas. The series has a major overarching antagonist, but each novella deals with one couple and their challenges. Character development is satisfying if not deep and world development increases with each novella. Call Me Baby is another sweet bite in this series.
Another quick and to the point book. I loved the banter between Burke and Foster. I really hope they find out what's, going on soon. Because I really want to know what's going on. And way it's happening.
