Heroine got on my last nerve! When she is not having lustful thoughts about her ex "Matty", she is lusting after ex "Dylan" (the Hero). Usually its the Hero who is a horn-dog, but it didn't work in this case either. She just came across as a slut to me because up until Dylan came back in her life, she had an on-off type relationship with "Matty" because "they had great sex". Nothing really wrong with that I guess, but for her to have those thoughts about Matt after Dylan came back and he was suppose to be this big love of hers, just turned me off. (The same would have applied if it was the Hero having lustful thoughts about some other woman).
Both characters act like they are still in highschool and I couldn't call this a romance since Hero left twice and I don't think he would have ever come back if not for finding out he would be a daddy. It didn't feel like these two were in love - even in the end - so NO, I don't recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice romance that will give you all the right "feels". This one just bored me to death.
Gage Grayson and Carter Black ‘s latest “Daddy’s Day” is about Brooke and Dylan. They were high school sweethearts who were in love yet Dylan left Brooke on prom night to leave for Harvard. Years later they reconnect when Dylan came home after his mother died. They reconnected and the passion was still there but Brooke thinks with him being this big named lawyer, he is more important than she, since all she became was a high school teacher. There are ups and downs, twists and turns in their 2nd chance at love story. Old feelings come creeping up and now they both have to deal with those feelings. Will they be able to let love in or find themselves letting the past get in the way ?
My Rating: 4.0 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Gage Grayson and Carter Black aremagnifysent writers.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this books.
I found the story of Brooke and Dylan to be quite enjoyable. It was funny, snarky, sexy, and heart warming. Brooke was a refreshingly strong female character. Dylan came across as quite arrogant and cocky at first, but showed his warm caring side when he took up the cause of the merging high schools pro bono.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this story. The characters were well-developed and memorable, and it was easy to understand them. There were a couple of times I was pulled from the story though: * There was a lot of text devoted to describing the flavor of various scotch and whiskey brands. I just didn't understand the significance. * Note to Dylan: When trying to convince the woman you love to accompany you, leaving behind her own life, you might want to mention you love her. Hell, you might even consider proposing. * Why were Eric and Jessie so tight-lipped? Surely, they both knew how Dylan and Brooke felt about each other. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't meddle to help bring these two together.
The story is told from the alternating POVs of Brooke and Dylan. Oddly, I found it much easier to identify with Dylan and I could feel his emotions much more. With Brooke, there seemed to be more sarcasm and description, not so much feeling. It was Dylan's experience of their separation that brought tears to my eyes. Brooke never seemed to open herself up as much - even to herself! I knew she loved Dylan because of the way she talked about him, but I knew Dylan loved her because of the way he experienced her. It was interesting.
In many ways, it reminded me of one of my favorite movies, An Officer and a Gentleman. No, Dylan does not walk into a factory and carry Brooke out of her miserable life. I'm just saying there were parts of this plot that reminded me of that one. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil anything. It's a great book and I recommend it. By the way, I received an ARC from Booksprout.
I received an Advance Reader Copy for DADDY’S DAY: A Secret Baby Father's Day Romance written by Gage Grayson & Carter Blake and voluntarily reviewed this book. Hotshot lawyer Dylan Andrews is called back to his hometown in Texas from New York to bury his mother…and to face the girl he left behind.
When her boyfriend leaves her on prom night, of all timings, for Harvard Law School, Brooke Sinclair moved on, but her heart was broken. Now Brooke has a lot on her plate in just the span of one day, starting with a huge development happening in town concerning the beloved high school she taught at, the death of a woman who was so near and dear to her, and finally seeing the boy-now-man who had left her without a backward glance back in town again. Fortunately, he stayed to use his expertise of the law to fight a pro bono battle against the closing of her school. Unfortunately, seeing and being with Dylan again brought back to the surface all the feelings she used to have for him and thought she got over. But Brooke knew that his days back home were going to be numbered, including what they have together while he is in Texas, because all evidence points to him leaving town when all is said and done.
Great characters, interesting little twist in the story, and a crossroads again for Dylan to choose between someone he loves and his future.
Dylan left Texas fifteen years ago and made a great life for himself. When he gets told that he had to go home, because his mom passed away, he is ambivalent. He knows he b has to go, but he will also have to see his high school sweetheart, the same woman he stranded at prom. Brooke still lives in the same town as she did in high school, and has made a good life for herself. When Dylan comes back to town, she tried to act as if everything is wonderful, but she still holds a lot of anger. She knows he is only there for a short time, so she figures she will be fine. That is, until he takes on a pro bono case to help out her, his best friend, and the entire school. As they work together, old feelings resurface, and it isn't long until they find themselves wanting to be with each other all the time. When his firm offers him the one thing he has always wanted, if he wins, he can't help to be excited. I looked how you saw Dylan grow, both personally and professionally. The reveal of the secret his dad was keeping was great, even though I figured out what was truly going on. Will Brooke go back to New York with Dylan, if he goes back? Will Dylan decide to stay in Texas do he can continue to be with Brooke? Will Dylan step up when he learns Brooke 's secret?

3.5 stars from my opinion on this. I liked the second chance of high school sweethearts and their connection but he walked out on her at their senior prom without a goodbye or anything to make his way to Harvard. It takes his mother passing for him to come back to Texas from NYC after 15 years. Brooke I would hoped that she would be so independent that she wouldn’t “jump” the man after a day or two after the funeral. No mentions of any ‘safety’ in the sex parts that lasts two chapters, I still confused about the actual think process and why he picked prom to ditch Texas or no calls or letters or even a message to Brooke to explain anything. And him leaving her a second time to NYC only to come back a week later after his happy news. I thought with the title that she had a child by him prior and him coming back for a funeral and seeing his kid but there wasn’t. (Spoiler) the merger of the schools was the product his parents evil masterminding to get them together again. What kind of parents would do something that would make kids travel an hour to a different school and to make hard working people loose their jobs for Brooke and Dylan to be together???
Dylan Andrews, star quarterback, and Brooke Sinclair, head cheerleader, were HS sweethearts. The perfect couple until Dylan got his chance to shake off the dust of his Texas hometown to go to Harvard and then onto NYC, leaving Brooke behind. Fifteen years later he’s become the star attorney in a prestigious law firm when he is unexpectedly called home. After suffering a tragic loss, Dylan finds his hometown HS is in trouble. During the fight to save their alma mater, he and Brooke rediscover their feelings for each other. Ultimately Dylan has to decide what in life is most important and where his heart truly lies.
This is an engaging tale from beginning to end. The storyline flows smoothly with interesting and solid characterizations. You will find it hard to put down. The only criticism I have is the heroine’s use of the “f” word was a bit excessive, especially for a school teacher. It felt out of character, IMO. Nevertheless, I recommend this as a very appealing read.
I am voluntarily providing an honest, unbiased review of an ARC of this book. I also purchased a copy of this book in support of the authors’ work.
his book is about an old high school romance that was ended abruptly by Dylan leaving Brooke alone on prom night to go off to pursue his dream of going to Harvard and becoming a lawyer. He really did well for himself and made partner at a top law firm. Brooke who he left behind stayed in their home town and became a teacher. Now her livelihood is being decided on by people wanting to close the high school she teaches at and went to High school for other development purposes. Her and her fellow teachers are ready to fight for their alma mater. They need someone who is a great lawyer and doesn't lose cases, to take this case on and win for them. Brooke seeks out Dylan and he gets on board for a major battle with his own father who is part of those who want to use the school for other development ideas. I recommend you read this story to see what happens when Dylan and Brooke are brought back together for a common fight. Do they rekindle the feelings that they once had for each other or may still be holding onto. Must read.

Brooke and Dylan were high school sweethearts and then he left her on prom night to leave for Harvard. Now years later he is home because his mom has died and he reconnects with old friend and Brooke. Brooke is a school teacher and is possibly going to lose her job if a school merge happens when Dylan hears about it he tells everyone he'll do what he can to stop it. While he is in town he spends some time with Brooke and they get close again but Brooke knows its not going to last because Dylan is a big shot lawyer in the city now. When his boss's call him about the case he learns if he wins it he'll make partner so there is more riding on him winning than he thought. Will Dylan see that he can make a life in his hometown before it too late or will he leave more than Brooke behind when he leaves?
This was a great story about a couple having a second chance at love. The chemistry between Dylan and Brooke is intensely hot. This was a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to any book lover.
Dylan Andrews and Brooke Sinclaire were high school sweethearts that everybody thought would end up married with a family. That all changed on the night of their prom Dylan left to pursue his dream of going to Harvard and becoming a lawyer. Dylan has always excelled at everything he did. He graduated Harvard and became a partner at the top law firm in New York nad he has never lost a case. 15 years later his mom dies and he returns home. While home he learns that his high school is being closed. He decides ton stay and fight to keep it open. Brooke was devastated when Dylan left but she did not want to leave the small town they live in. It was her home, She became a school teacher. When she learned she was going to be out of a job due to the school closing she ends up working with Dylan to keep it open. What happens when their old feelings start to come back and will Dylan stick around this time or will he leave her again. This is and emotional engaging read with well rounded caharacters that flows smoothly you won't be able to put down. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Swoon worthy! I loved this passion filled second chance romance! Dylan left his hometown 15 years ago to become the hot shot lawyer he is today. He has never forgotten his one true love that he left behind. Brooke stayed in town and has really never gotten over Dylan, so when he shows ups for his mother's funeral it takes everything she has to stay away. Dylan still loves Brooke, but knows he will just break her heart again. When their beloved high school is slated to close, Dylan decides to take on the local officials and fight along side his friends, and Brooke. After working closely together they can't deny the chemistry any more, and whoa are there fireworks! The drama amps up when Dylan realizes who is behind the closure. Will he stay for his first love, what happens when is slipped that he is going to be a father? It's such a great story line I just couldn't put it down!
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Dylan and Brook. Dylan is the man in his law firm and he likes it that way. He wants to win and be a winner. There is only one thing that Dylan doesn't feel like he won and that is Brook. Brook still holds bitterness for the boy who left her on prom night to catch the last bus to Harvard and never returned. She knows as soon as she gets the news about his mom that he is coming back. They wonder can they find a way back to each other and a HEA or are the wounds of the past more than they can overcome?
This is an amazing book. It has it's ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first page to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
I LOVED this book! Gage Grayson and Carter Blake really put together a book that I could not put down. Big time lawyer gets called back to his small hometown, where he left his high school sweetheart in the dust. When something happens that requires his services, there is no way he can say no. And the chance to spend more time with his sweetheart is impossible to resist. And the twist towards the end? Holy cow did not see that coming! Really loved this and feel it is a must read! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Hero, Dylan = 5/5 Heroine, Brooke = 5/5 Chemistry, = 5/5 Sex, = 5/5 Plot = 5/5 Mystery = 2/5 Action = 1/5 Darkness = 1/5 Humor = 2/5 POV = Dual Would I recommend this book = yes Would I re-read this book = yes Would I read future books by this author = yes
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book. Such a great book, I loved it! I was captivated from the start and couldn’t put it down until I was finished. I always love the second chance at love stories and Dylan and Brooke’s is really no different. High school sweethearts and then Dylan left to pursue his career in law. It’s been 15 years since they’ve seen each other and when Dylan finds himself back home after the loss of his mother, the flame between the two is still burning. Old feelings come creeping up and now they both have to deal with them. Will these two be able to overcome some obstacles to get their second chance at love? No spoilers here, this is a must read, so you need to grab it.
From the beginning, this book will suck you in and hold you spellbound until the last page. Dylan is a high-powered NY attorney who is called to return home after his mother passed away. Brooke is the woman who Dylan left behind after high school when he went off to study at Harvard and never looked back. Fifteen years later, they are brought back together and their old feelings resurface. When their old high school is threatened with closure, their bonds only grow stronger as they fight for the cause. Can Dylan and Brooke rekindle the love they once had for each other? This is one intense second chance romance that you want to grab with both hands and start reading. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this story.
While I’ve enjoyed other Carter Blake stories, Gage Grayson is a new author for me. Based on Daddy's Day: A Secret Baby Father's Day Romance, I’m promising myself that we will become well acquainted. This novel truly is, quite simply, wonderful. This tale had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot that had a truly “genuine” feel to it. Brooke and Dylan, the leads here, is perfectly crafted and their supporting cast is also superb. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommended.
Daddy’s Day is the second/third chance story between Dylan and Brooke. After ditching Brooke at their senior prom to go to Harvard, and then leaving her again to go back his life in NYC, Dylan begins to see the cracks and flaws in what he though was his perfect life in NYC. On the flip side, it seems Brooke isn’t even remotely interested in going with Dylan. I understand the first time, but the second? Part of me felt like she was being selfish and a hypocrite. Either way, both characters are well developed and continue to grow within the story. The story itself is good, though it being a ‘scheme’ seemed to be rather unbelievable. Sorry for that itty bitty spoiler. I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.
This is the first time I have read these authors and I am impressed. Second chance romance at it's best. The book was well written and the characters were very well defined. I read it almost straight through. A book that takes you in to where you feel you are part of the story is amazing. Dylan, the all American Texas football hero turned powerhouse NY lawyer. He has everything he ever dreamed of except the girl he left behind. Brooke, a Texan through and through, highschool cheerleader and popular girl dating the football star. Ahead 15 years, Brooke still loves her school, as a teacher, and a well loved member of the community. She lost the love of her life, she moved on...... Now a tragedy has Dylan back. Just a great love story. I loved it, and the HEA was just was meant to be.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book Love or Career...what a choice. Being young, Dylan Andrews knew what he wanted... to be a successful lawyer. Sadly his ex girlfriend and love Brooke Sinclair disagreed. Now back for his mums funeral and 15 years later, Dylan realises he will have to face Brooke again. Now the fun begins. They say “the heart wants what the heart wants” and time will wait if it is truly meant to be. The chemistry between Brooke and Dylan is fantastic and deep down I know they still love one another but fate again makes them have to choose......love or career. Only one problem, well a beautiful surprise baby problem. Not a problem , a gift. A fantastic story, loved it
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from Booksprout. Dylan and Brooke are high school sweethearts, until he moves away to become a lawyer. I love second chance romance stories. To have a chance with the lost love of your life is so rewarding to read. I really connected with Brooke in this book. Her potty mouth resembles my own. LOL! I loved her strength and loyalty to her loved ones. Dylan also has a huge heart and has regrets leaving suddenly. The storyline was very well written, and I loved the descriptions of their drink choices. This is my first time reading from the authors. I enjoyed the easy flow of the story. I will definitely watch out for more books by Carter and Gage.
Absolutely loved the story about Dylan and Brooke! Dylan is a hot shot lawyer in New York and Brooke is a school teacher at the same school on Texas where her and Dylan were high school sweethearts. Dylan goes home for his mothers funeral, where he finds out his father is trying to tear down the high school to build a shopping complex. He and Brooke fight together to save the school and fall back deeply in love. Both to stubborn to leave either place for each other intil Brooke gets pregnant, Dylan comes back home to get his woman and their unborn child. This book will leave you wanting more. True love always prevails!
I love high school sweethearts second chance and babies are an added bonus. First I loved Brooke although at times I wanted to yell at her that sometimes you only get one opportunity at true love SO GO FOR IT. Dylan, it took me a little while to warm up to him because for as intelligent as he was he wasn't very smart. By the end he won me over.
Although the ending was predictable it was an enjoyable read with some LOL moments too.I will definitely read more from these authors.
I both bought and received an ARC via Booksprout for an honest review
While in high school Dylan and Brooke were the perfect couple, the quarterback and the cheerleader until Dylan goes to Harvard and leaves Brooke and his hometown behind.
Fifteen years later after his mother’s passing he returns home and reunites with Brooke who is now a schoolteacher. When he finds out the high school may be closing he stays to fight for the school and the teacher’s jobs. Is this their second chance or is Brooke destined for heartbreak once again? Daddy’s Day by Gage Grayson and Carter Blake ARC: Voluntarily read and Honestly Reviewed 5 Stars
Just finished reading this lovely story. It was filled with such heart wrenching angst and brokenness over a love that could never be.
I had tear filled eyes and that feeling of sadness that gripped my heart and stomped on it as I kept reading all throughout the night. Surprises and chemistry that had never died is felt throughout as Brook Sinclair and Dylan Andrews reconnected after many years apart.
Enjoyed reading Brooke and Dylan's second chance at love. Years ago Dylan left Brooke to pursue his dreams. He's back in town for his mom's funeral. Once they see each other old feelings are rekindled but Dylan is determined to go back to his life in New York and Brooke is determine to stay. As their relationship progress Dylan and Brooke both make decisions that affect their future. Sweet emotional funny read. Recommended read

A entertaining and engaging storyline that is filled with a powerful attraction that even time could not sever, steamy chemistry and deep emotions. Years later these former high school sweethearts are about to get another chance at a happily ever after but with secrets, twists and drama it is sure to be a rocky road ahead. A good book.
