This book is a powerful overview of the themes and focus of Jesus's prayers when He was here on earth. I found it both comforting and inspiring to see all the ways He connected to God in prayer, including moments when He faced temptation, when He needed to make important decisions, when He felt abandoned, and more. My favorite part was the prayers at the end of each chapter, where I could model Jesus's prayers as my own. This is one of those books that I can envision myself returning to for years to come.

How many times have we read Jesus’ prayers as familiar and comforting words, yet not paused to study deeply what He was actually saying?

This book takes time to digest, to recognize—word by word—Jesus’ messages, intentions and promises. I found myself challenged to consider the nature of my prayers. Were they designed to bring glory to Jesus and to the heavenly Father? Do I listen to the Holy Spirit as I pray—being intentionally still to hear His counsel? Will I really decide to desire God's will above my own?

Janet's personal and poignant life experiences with challenges, trauma and betrayals bring to life her counsel on how to interact with God. She not only provides example prayers at the end of each chapter, but shows what Scriptures she used to design those prayers, encouraging us to do the same.

Each chapter’s title clearly indicates a focal aspect of the Lord Jesus Christ’s ministry in prayer and His example that we can follow. This is a thorough and helpful guide to those who want to engage in a meaningful prayer life with God.

Want to get your prayers answered? Then learn to pray like Jesus. Janet's book is full of wonderful insights and examples of how we can learn to pray like Jesus. His prayers were effective and powerful and He modeled for us exactly how to pray. I love that at the end of each Chapter, not only are there questions to grow deeper in prayer, but also prayers to prayer. Janet shows us step by step how to pray and how it can change our life. One of my favorite chapters in on Jesus' prayer of praise, in it, we are given a 31 day prayer/praise chart to help us stay on track and pray prayers of praise. Great book for those who want to learn to pray and even for those who are seasoned prayer warriors. This book will help you walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

In Janet’s book, The Complete Guide to the Prayers of Jesus, she gives us not only an intimate look into the beautiful prayer life of Jesus, but she also shares transparent, believable, and powerful applications of those prayers from her own life. This book will be a welcome guide and help to your prayer life, and one that will teach you how to draw closer to the One Who is our true Prayer Mentor. It can be used individually or as a group study, with thought-provoking questions added at the end of each chapter.

This book is packed with both insight and power. This really is a complete guide. Whilst many such books can come across as dry, the writing style lifts this one off the pages. Each section takes an aspect of life and looks at it from both Jesus life and the life of the ordinary man or woman today. The similarities and differences of the prayer in different books of the bible, are highlighted, in a way which enlightens. I like the prayer at the end of each chapter. The questions at the end of the chapter serve as a call to analyse your own prayer life and to help you go deeper. A well thought out and insightful book which I can highly recommend.

An easy to read and insightful examination of the types of prayers Jesus prayed during his time on earth.

I'd never looked at them quite this way before and I gained insight into both Jesus/God/the Holy Spirit, along with my own prayer life. One day, in particular, was especially meaningful to the events in my life that day.

McHenry draws on her experiences as a long-time teacher to give unusual and poignant examples of how she applied Jesus' prayer example to her own life--and how we can, too.

The only book that comprehensively studies the prayer life of Jesus, with insights about his teachings on prayer and his prayer practices woven into the chapters about his actual prayers themselves. (Yes, there are many more in the gospels than just the Lord's Prayer.) My husband hasn't read any others of my books, but he said, "I will read this one--and every pastor should have one." Best review ever!

I've been reading this book since the beginning of summer and it has been both a blessing and a gift to my soul. Janet makes the words of Jesus real and applicable to my day to day life. Each chapter concludes with a beautiful prayer to reinforce the chapter theme and additional questiona for reflection. I have been blessed by this book and you will be too.
