The "risk it all" student. The "play it safe" professor. An improbable pair, but there’s no textbook for love. Welcome to Endurance, California the single dad capital of the west.
Music major Autumn Raine is used to taking care of herself. So when an eight-year-old’s prank brings her face-to-face with her secret crush she’s grateful for the rescue, but this close encounter has Autumn wishing for private lessons.
After a failed marriage, single father and college professor, Rui Conners is committed to raising his daughter alone, but Autumn is bandaging his wounded heart one smile at a time.
What's the problem? She has no idea he's interested and Rui's relationship with his ex-wife is far from ancient history.
How will these two people used to flying solo, find the perfect note to make their duet go the distance?
What do you do when an eight year old tries to steal your broke down car? Why become her live-in nanny, of course. That's where Autumn finds herself after finding out the little thief is the daughter of the man she has been crushing on. Rui is a college professor and single dad struggling to raise his unruly daughter. Simone has been skipping school and acting out due to the absence of her mother.
When Rui is called to the police station to retrieve his daughter once again, he comes face to face with the woman of his dreams. When she finds herself in need of a job and somewhere to live, Ruin gives the 'obvious' solution - move in with him and Simone and become her nanny.
Things get better for Autumn at first, but of course it can't stay that way. Ex wives have a way of reappearing when they sense the husband has found someone new. Rui's ex is no different. She blows into town and worms her way back into their lives only to leave again. This time Rui's live is more destroyed than before, because he lacked the ability to communicate.
Eventually there is a HEA, but you must read the drama to see how it comes to be. I enjoyed this book, as I have the entire series. I wonder who or what adventures Endurance holds for the rest of the single men in town...
Autumn Raine is trying to keep balance in her life, going to school, training for the big race in Endurance and work a job so she can keep a roof over her head.
Rui Conners is a college professor and a single dad who happens to have a crush on Autumn who does not even know he is interested. An unexpected incident brings the two face to face.
I enjoy reading about the single dad capital in Endurance, California it is refreshing to read about men stepping up and taking care of their kids, the town has divorced and widow. I loved the way the author gave us a visual in the beginning of the book of the town so as I read I can picture each one of the establishments. My favorite character in the story was Simone even though she was tad bit grown for her age I loved her innocence. Great series.
Even though it says it's book 4, it not a series where you have to read them in a certain order. It's a group of stories of men from a small town in the northern part of California called Endurance and how they each find the woman they're meant to be with. In this story you meet Autumn Raine, a struggling college student with a troubled past. She comes in contact with College Professor Rui Connors through is terror of a child, eight year old Simmone. Add to the mix, Rui's famous Ex Wife, Kristen, and you have an enjoyable romance story that will have you laughing throughout, especially with the antics of Simmone, as well as other children in the story. Because of this book, this author will stay in my auto buy list and I have to make sure to read the rest of the books in this series written with Olivia Gaines. A job well done.
Ruis and Autumn was something else she really liked him and when she worked a bit for Owen and Ivy babysitting Cai he went by for breakfast just to get a glance at her smiling face. She needed extra money to finish paying her rent and was jogging everyday to train for a marathon that was upcoming to win big bucks. Hey was a professor as well as a divorce single dad raising his right year old daughter who had him wrapped around her little finger and was on the bratty side and always getting into some kind of trouble. And because of her that is how they actually finally got to meet one another. And things just went on from there but of course drama awaits nothing can always go simple without it right??
As with the whole series, this title, too, has egregious editorial issues, along with glaring continuity issues from previous titles in the series. If you can get past that, this series is a fun and light reading, and reminiscent of a D. Macomber series, but in Endurance, CA, and with people of color. I would recommend reading in this order: - Book 1 - Book 2 - Book 5
All of the above were written by Olivia Gaines, then read: - Book 3 - Book 4 - Book 6
All of the above were written by Sierra London.
Book 6 is a lead-in to Book 7 & Book 8, so definitely read it first.
I found by reading the series in the above order, the authors' voices were more consistent, and the series continuity, though not good, was easier to follow.
What can I say. This is my first read by this author. I like the characters in this book. But at times it felt like thinks we're moving to fast. I couldn't figure out the pace of time every thing took place. Besides the obvious first day meeting with Simone and Autumn, and later that morning with Rui. I think thats what really threw me off with everything happening so fast. Maybe adding dates or a week later, something to time the events. I do like the map in front of the book. That connects all the town characters.
Would I read more from this author. ...sure...why not...all the characters are really interesting and I would love to read more about their lives as well.
I received an advanced copy of Going the Distance for an honest review. I enjoyed the book and the small town of Endurance. The hero, Rui got on my nerves in the beginning, because he couldn't let go of the past. I liked Autumn and the goals she set for herself to better her life. Rui's daughter, Simone was a brat in the beginning. But, we find out she was just acting out I loved the relationship that developed between Autumn and the daughter, Simone. That was the most endearing to me. The book showed the issues that some blended families face. But, when two people stand together they can overcome them.
Going The Distance (The Men of Endurance Book 4) is s very sweet and Sensual interracial romance novella that earned a rating of four stars. Professor Rui Conner and Autumn had a crush on each other. Rui had a lot of baggage and they had to overcome a lot of obstacles to find their happy ever after. I enjoyed reading this novella and would recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading good romance novellas.
This is a nice fairly simple predictable tale. Rui's ex is quite cringeworthy with her plastic self-absorbed phony hedonistic lifestyle. Even her kid recognized the emptiness there. Rui makes a lot of dumb mistakes but he gets it together in the end and his Alpha male performance that one time is a surprise. Autumn & Rui make a sweet inevitable couple with a dash of quirkiness that seems common in Endurance. Hmmm..yes..it's nice.😊
Love this series. There is so much fun, laughter and love. Its like getting to know a community of love. Rui did have me ready to hit gim over the head. When his ex came back he shouldn't have needed to be told by anyone to tell jer to go away. He almost lost Autumn with his stupid stuff. His ex was not someone I'd want to be around. No way could I leave my child as a mother. Looking forward to reading more about these Men of Endurance.
Love can make you do some crazy things but that just goes to show that you will be willing to fight and go the distance for your one and only. I can't believe he tried to run a long distance race with no type of training. Glad he asked you and let his ex go in order the love life again. Looking forward to the next book in this series hope I like it like I loved the other two.
I enjoyed this story but there were technical issues like continuity problems: Autumn wearing Reeboks that later became Nikes, Rui breaking down a bedroom door having his ex-wife enter then leave and then he makes love to Autumn in a room with no door and an ex-wife around the corner? And a few others. These sorts of things tripped me up.
At first the story line didn't catch my attention, but after diving a little deeper I got hooked. Another great book Siera London!!! Rui and Autumn's love story will intrigue the readers. It contains drama, hope, dreams, betrayal, deception, determination, well power, and finding true love. I will be recommending this book to everyone I know!!!!
Autumn and Rui have both been scared. With the help of others, some good some bad. Can they go the distance. I have enjoyed this series, gained a healthy respect for single fathers.
You find yourself rooting for these two. The Author does a very good job building out these characters so that you understand their motivations and the reasoning behind their actions. One thing is clear though, men can really be obtuse sometimes.
The kids in this series are a hoot. However, the rest of the story just seems to fall flat. Maybe because things happen so fast but I really don't feel a connection, between the couples or with the books.
Another sweet second chance Romance. Autumn and Ruined were definitely opposite that were made for each other. And Simone!!! Can't wait to see what she does next.
This was a wonderful read! Rui, Autumn and Simone are fantastic, well developed characters. Simone is crying out for the attention she isn’t receiving from her mother. Autumn and Rui have been characters since the first installment of this series and it was great to see them get their HEA.
