Time moves ahead quickly as we learn some more about the fates of characters from previous volumes and start meeting descendants. The first part is a bit dark and morose, matching Fushi's mood as he tries to withdraw from the world.
But then the closing chapters seem to show the series jumping the shark with the out-of-nowhere introduction of a hyper-exaggerated foppish prince who would be more at home in an over-the-top series like One Piece: Romance Dawn. My heart sank at the news that he is the center of the next story arc.

Easily my least favourite volume so far. Where the story decided to go with Hayase was a choice. Fushi is also really lacking in direction and that makes the story also feel like it's meandering. We get quite a few time skips in this volume, and Fushi isn't particularly connected to any of the characters introduced. This disconnect is also making me feel detached from the story.

I liked the beginning, but then I felt it was really rushed and it felt very similar to volume five. Disappointing since Tonari seemed so much cooler this time around. A big issue I had was it was unclear if Fushi recognized Tonari and Sandel. They didn't reintroduce themselves and he didn't seem to recognize them. When Fushi hears that the woman (not yet recognized Tonari) was attacked by the nokker he says "why did it attack Tonari!?!" which implies he knew who she was but then this is all contradicted when Fushi shows the woman all of his forms and is shocked that he cannot turn into Tonari and Sandel saying "They're alive...?- They're still alive!!!" and a couple pages later Fushi asks Sandel their names... So I'm assuming the "why did it attack Tonari!?!" was a mistake?

This volume made me cry like a baby. Mostly a transitional volume with some great character development and worldbuilding.
The new arc already feels fresh and I love how ridiculous Bonchien Nicoli La Tasty Peach Uralis is. Feels like a One Piece character and I'm here for it.

Abre un nuevo arco narrativo y también una nueva Ôima que se reencarna desde los primeros tomos. Por fin vuelve una historia preocupada por las emociones de sus personajes que considera la acción como un complemento y no su base. Inmo prosigue con su evolución sin perder consistencia (es, sin duda, lo más consistente de toda la serie); Ôima aprovecha su personaje para pasar de un punto narrativo a otro completamente distinto de manera orgánica. Que la autora se atreva a crear una historia que cubre varios siglos de un mundo de fantasía inspirado en el medievo europeo es encomiable, y sorprende cómo pueden pasar décadas en un solo capítulo sin que la trama se resienta por ello. En vez de centrarse en un espacio concreto, este tomo salta directamente al nomadismo sin rumbo que, ya desde el inicio, establece la poca importancia del lugar. El mundo se convierte en un telón de fondo para el viaje interior de Inmo, proyectado al exterior en sus últimos capítulos.
Los personajes también tienen su interés. Me encanta la despedida de Tonari y que se vuelva a dar valor a la pérdida de manera efectiva. Lo que en el anterior tomo apuntaba a una trama manida y muy poco interesante, esto es, la posesión de Hayase, se continúa aquí de manera mucho más adecuada. Quizá no me convenzan todas las decisiones de guion, pero lo cierto es que apenas tengo problemas con ellas porque, incluso si no son de mi agrado, puedo comprenderlas y resultan lógicas tanto para la historia como para sus personajes. Hay cierta falta de foco; al no haber ningún objetivo definido, Inmo se dedica a pulular y poco más; a pesar de ello, una vez más, se lleva adecuadamente. Hacia el final del tomo se apunta hacia una trama más concreta y, la verdad, tengo mucho miedo: el personaje del príncipe no es especialmente original y parece un intento por hacer la trama más interesante. Podría pasar cualquier cosa. Por eso mismo, voy a dar un voto de confianza a Ôima: ha demostrado en numerosas ocasiones que sabe guionizar muy bien y lleva su trama por derroteros atrevidos y originales. Aunque este haya sido un tomo de transición, solo espero que el retorno a los fantásticos primeros tomos se mantenga, por lo menos, hasta el final de la primera parte del manga.

Abrimos un nuevo arco en la historia de Inmo. La sexta entrega de To Your Eternity abre el telón 40 años después, con un Inmo que ha decidido vivir en una isla solitaria para no atraer más Golpeadores. Asistimos al calmado día a día de este ser inmortal. Todo cambia cuando un culto creciente que lo idolatra aparece en la isla y el Creador informa a Inmo de la actividad de los Golpeadores fuera de la isla. Inmo decide salir de su aislamiento para ayudar a las villas cercanas que se han visto en peligro. Oima aprovecha el paso del tiempo para darnos información sobre las regiones que conocemos, traer de vuelta algunos personajes del pasado y contarnos sobre sus descendientes.
Es un volumen de pura transición hacia un nuevo arco. El ritmo del tomo es tranquilo, con algún momento de reflexión sobre el duelo y con resonancia emocional del pasado, pero sin grandes momentos. Es un volumen extraño y muy disfrutable, donde vivimos un avance a cámara rápida en la evolución de Inmo y su conocimiento del mundo, pero al final sin sustancia. Sin embargo, el último tercio del tomo, cambia por completo con la llegada del prólogo para el nuevo arco. Nos vamos de los bosques y pueblos para habitar la gran ciudad, con un personaje de lo mas variopinto y exagerado. Un príncipe muy peculiar, con un lado grandilocuente que contrasta un poco con lo que hemos visto hasta ahora. ¿A qué se tendrá que enfrentar ahora el misterioso Inmo?

Una saga con una premisa original que cuenta pequeñas historias muy humanas. Hay mucho drama y los personajes, tanto principales como secundarios están muy bien caracterizados, tienen un gran desarrollo y logras empatizar muy bien con ellos. La rama decae a cada tomo y no profundiza suficiente en temas importantes, pero tengo la esperanza de que mejore. Por otra parte, el dibujo es bonito, claro, detallado y fácil de seguir. Si quieres empezar con este medio y buscas una buena historia con un dibujo muy trabajado, no sé a qué estás esperando.

After experiencing more loss, Fushi decides to close himself off to people so as to avoid friendships and any other connections. He's bored and surly and guilty though. Then it gets sort of weird when the descendants of Hayase start popping up, all creepily attentive and clingy.

This volume is a manga equivalent of a montage. Fushi lives through 100 years, picking up different skills along the way and refusing to deal with Hayase's mess.

Cuatro estrellas. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nos presentan temporalmente a un Fushi adulto, que ya ha vivido cuarenta años en una isla solitaria derrotando a los Knockers y alrededor de unos cientos de años en la civilización.
Pyoran fue una de las razones por las que decidió vivir en soledad, al grado de convertirse en un cangrejo. Se ve empujado a regresar a la ciudad porque los Knockers han decidido atacar el pueblo. Conocemos a la descendencia de Hayase, su nieta, Hisame, quien lamentablemente heredó la locura de su ascendiente, creando así una especie de religión que pretende proteger a Fushi y derrocar a los Knockers.
No puedo olvidar hacer mención de Tonari, nuestra valiente protagonista de la isla que aprendió a sobrevivir a los venenos para que cuando su final llegara, su fuerte cuerpo fuese de utilidad a Fushi. Una valiente doctora.
Conocimos el "Faie", el alma, el espíritu.
Al principio a Fushi le parecía divertido que todas las descendientes de Hayase llegaran con él con la idea de "pretenderlo", entonces él para alejarlas se convertía en Tonari, y entonces las nenas se iban. Eso hasta que llega Kahaku, un descendiente hombre de la familia de Hayase, pidiendo ser compañero de Fushi.
En esta vida, Fushi pretende buscar un amigo, pero siempre está la constante de que puede ponerlos en peligroso, él necesita amigos (a) para recordar su humanidad, la razón por la que protege este mundo para encontrarse a él mismo una razón para existir. El hombre de negro le dice que será libre si algún día llega a copiar todo el mar.
Kahaku convence a Fushi de transformarse en otra persona, ya que la iglesia de Bennet si mal no me acuerdo, está persiguiéndolo por ser hereje, entonces decide tomar la forma de Perona. Es claro que Kahaku a igual que toda su familia, continuar la tradición de querer tener un hijo con Fushi. Chingada madre. ¡Chinga tu madre, Hayase! PINSHE obsesión enferma.
Este lo empieza a presentar a varios pueblos para comprobar que realmente existe un ser inmortal. También conocemos a Bon, un príncipe, algo arrogante y narcisista, bastante pretencioso, quien puede ver fantasmas, y nos enseña que durante todo este tiempo, Tonari, March y Gugu, sus almas siempre han acompañado a Fushi. Por cierto, una de las mejores escenas finales del manga.
Algo que no me había destacado es que las vistas, los paisajes en donde nos lleva Oima son realmente preciosas, puedes palpar las casas, sentir la textura de la vegetación, la arena en tus pies.

The greatest curse of immortality is seeing those you love wither and fade away.
Saddened by the passing of his friend and at times mentor, Fushi decides to live by himself on a deserted island so the Nokkers will come to him and leave others alone. Time passes, new outlooks on life happen, and the world moves on as Fushi lives his days one after another not wanting to suffer further from the lost of those he has learned to love like in the past. As he learns the nokkers have decided to attack others anyway regardless of his decisions he is suddenly discovered by a young girl claiming to be the descendent of the obsessed Hayase that the immortal abandoned over 40 years ago on a boat. This young girl however has something malevolent on her arm in the form of a nokker which discovered Hayase after she was left behind by Fushi so many years ago and is now part of a tradition passed down from child to child. Fushi must now deal with his feelings of hatred for the woman that killed some of his dear friends and the girl who leads an ever impressive force dedicated to the eradication of Fushi's foes the nokkers. In the mean time faces from the past return although changed by the filter of 40 years which ultimately leads to Fushi discovering although it is painful to love and lose that he must still go forth and find others that can help now that the nokkers are no longer only targeting him.
This story like other chapters deals with the passing of time in a rather sudden way whenever you see Fushi basically narrating things around him like how Hayase's descendants continued to seek him out and continue their own battles against the nokkers as best they can. However as time passes so do the views of people change as dissent about the Holy Fushi preached by the Guardians leads certain groups to believe instead of being a hero he is actually the reason the nokkrs come in the first place and thus must be evil. Now Fushi has a bounty upon his head and must deal with a world that doesn't understand him even though he was made famous by the teachings of the Guardians. So many emotions flow through these books like years in an immortal's life.

Me gusta el giro que ha dado la obra. Sin entrar en spoilers (que eso vendrá después), ahora Inmo es muy conocido, casi una leyenda-dios según a quién pregunte y se ve forzado a interactuar con los descendientes de Hayase de Yanome, que se han autoproclamado sus guardianes.
Ha habido menos drama al perder esa dinámica de Inmo encariñándose de gente nueva, que muere por su culpa, pero aún así la autora consigue tocarte el corazón y nos hace ver que esto no es la pescadilla que se muerde la cola sino que Inmo realmente crece, aprende y que todo lo que le ha pasado, también le ha cambiado. Es inmortal, pero para él también pasa el tiempo.
El de negro cada vez me cae peor, por cierto.
Tengo dos cosas que quiero destacar: 1) Es dificil no querer a Inmo, incluso en su forma de langosta; y 2) La educación sexual en este mundo es muy precaria (esta no os la esperabais, EH).
Ah y, con todo el dolor de mi corazón, tengo una queja importante, que tengo que compartir y es que la secuencia temporal de los acontecimientos se ha ido un poco bastante. A mí no me salen las cuentas con cierto suceso del final del tomo en el que aparece un personaje que había muerte hacía quince años, cuando desde la muerte de ese personaje han pasado varias generaciones. Que alguien me corrija porque quizás se me ha escapado algo, pero a mí me ha faltado coherencia temporal.
Aún así me parece una obra maravillosa y uno de los grandes descubrimientos del año.

After Pioran's death, Fushi spends 40 years alone on an island, killing any nokkers that come after him. Then he is accosted by a 9 year old who is the granddaughter and reincarnation of Hayase. They call a truce long enough to travel to a town attacked by nokkers and there they meet an older Tonari and Sandel.
And then they're captured by Prince Bonchien Nicoli La Tasty Peach Uralis...or Prince Bon for short. He can see ghosts. (And if J. Michael Tatum doesn't dub this character, I will be disappointed.)
And then they're captured by Prince Bonchien Nicoli La Tasty Peach Uralis...or Prince Bon for short. He can see ghosts. (And if J. Michael Tatum doesn't dub this character, I will be disappointed.)

It's not as strong as other volumes. This has some of the good introspective moments that is part of the series's bread and butter, as well as a cool reappearance from Tonari, but the rest of it is sort of meh.
There's a few big things that bugged me. The first is that Hayase is creepy from beyond the grave, having formed a sex cult inside of another cult, and we are introduced to this through her nine year old granddaughter which is hella uncomfortable. Also, outside of this weird nine year-old (who only leaves after Fushi tricks her into believing that sleeping within 3 feet of each other while fully clothed may get her pregnant, and then they do that), the only member of the Guardians who is really explored is the one male successor, Kahaku.
While Tonari's reappearance was really cool, the fact that Tonari's doctor friend literally strolls out of the plot afterwards really shows to me how underdeveloped Tonari's friends are, which sucks because we're supposed to believe that Fushi had deep bonds with all of them, not just Tonari.
The biggest issue though is probably that this one moves slower than the others because Fushi is so directionless.

Je pense que c'est une de mes séries préférées... Y'a tellement d'émotions dans toute la série et dans ce tome en particulier.
J'ai apprécié revoir ce que sont d'anciens compagnons d'Im (mais la tristesse d'apprendre la mort de certains). En revanche, les disciples d'Hayase sont mega flippants... et l'embrigadement des enfants dès le plus jeune âge est malaisant (comme tout ce qui touche à ce perso de toute façon...)
J'aime bien la façon dont l'histoire avance dans le temps, c'est assez bien fait pour qu'on ait une idée e ce qu'il se passe, du temps qui s'écoule et en même temps, ça ne prend pas trop de temps pour ne rien raconter.
Le nouveau personnage a l'air plutôt intéressant, j'ai bien aimé son côté grandiloquent qui tranche un peu avec ce qu'on a vu jusqu'ici.
J'ai hâte de lire la suite, comme à chaque fois.

Me gusta que la historia haya llegado al punto en el que el protagonista parece estar asumiendo su condición inmortal (de momento) y empieza a ver cómo se difumina su percepción del paso de los años. Es otro tomo devastador sobre todo cuando regresa ESE personaje (que podría haber sido mayor si Yoshitoki hubiese esperado un tiempecito más). La trama de fondo de los Golpeadores me gusta que vaya perdiendo relevancia, porque por la contra se nos echa encima una ligada a este tema pero con unas connotaciones increíblemente densas y conflictivas que unas (aparentemente) amorales criaturas parasitarias.
El nuevo personaje que se deja caer en las últimas páginas resulta harto curioso al igual que lo que parece anticipar su trama para el nuevo arco argumental con Inmo.

El problema que tengo acá con la obra es que si sigue utilizando el curso de time-skip podría poco a poco ir perdiendo la consistencia, dejando mas dudas que respuestas. Comprendo que no es el objetivo, dado que lo importante es darle todas las habilidades necesarias al protagonista para enfrentar sus desafíos, pero me gustaría que me explicaran mejor las cosas, siento que todo es tan superficial que no logro entender todo. Por lo demás, no sé si me van a entregar esas respuestas que deseo, entonces me sucede que antes me interesaba la historia por las maravillosas historias, como la de March y Gugu, pero en este punto ya no están, por lo que no se a donde quiere apuntar la historia. Y por otra parte no tiene sentido hacernos volver a este tipo de historia, el protagonista debe evolucionar. Pero para mi gusto, el principal problema erradica que si hacen un salto de 40 años para matar a Tonari, siento que va en camino a perder el rumbo de una historia que prometía harto.

I thought the last few volumes weren’t quite as compelling, but the series still manages to be unique and full of potential to be something a bit more special than your average manga. I still highly recommend the series and believe it’s one of the better ones I’ve read in awhile. Fushi’s journey in this volume and the last few felt like a teenage stage, which I hope he learns from and grows from in subsequent volumes so we can move past the angst and move in a direction with more gravitas that was more apparent in the earlier volumes.

Cykl Ku twej wieczności był moim pierwszym spotkaniem z mangą. I to bardzo udanym, bowiem opowieść stworzona przez Yoshitoki Oimę oczarowała mnie piękną kreską i ciekawym pomysłem na fantastyczny, aczkolwiek brutalny świat. Niestety, wszystko co dobre, kiedyś się kończy. Za mną tomy szósty i siódmy. I o ile ten pierwszy nadal raczej utrzymuje poziom poprzednich, tak numer siedem okazał się tak słaby, że chyba kończę przygodę z cyklem.
