In New York Times bestselling author Melody Anne’s blazing novel of desire and betrayal, a second chance at love is a hot—and dangerous—proposition.

There was a time when Eden’s entire world revolved around Owen Forbes. They were inseparable childhood sweethearts. They planned a life together. Then, without so much as a goodbye, Owen vanished. Now, after ten years, he’s returned to town as the hottest new firefighter on the force. Whatever secrets pulled them apart, Eden can’t fight the sparks reignited by the man who broke her heart.

Owen knows he did Eden wrong. If only he could tell her why. As body meets body, he’s whispering for a second chance—wanting her back so bad it hurts. It can also be dangerous. An arsonist is targeting the small town of Edmonds, and Eden with it. And it’s Owen himself who’s become engulfed in suspicion.

Eden knows that with a past as hot and mysterious as Owen’s, their future together could go up in flames. Because the one man she’s afraid to trust is the only man she desires—and the only one who can save her.

So many tears and emotions in this one! So good.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Melody Anne has always struck me as a true romance writer. She writes books with little angst and a whole lot of feel good storylines.
Owen is a little bit different from what she normally writes. This book was full of emotions, heartbreak, deep love, and even a bit of suspense and mystery. Not to mention the hot connection between Eden and Owen. Now that is steamy!
I absolutely love these two together. I love the way the author chose to open the story and write the story. So different – it as looking peeking into someone’s heart and soul at times. I had so many emotions with this story. Lots of tears and some smiles too.
This story is a 5 star winner all the way around. I absolutely loved and connected with both characters and the plot was intriguing and so engaging. The secondary characters were awesome too.
Would I recommend reading the other books first? Maybe, but I fell in love with this series and Owen all on its own, so you be the judge. Me? I am grabbing the others in the series too so I can catch up and get all of the back story!
So I have mixed feelings about book. On one hand, the suspense plot really kept me going. I was itching to know why someone was setting fires. On the other hand, I had really couldn't warm up to the MC's. I felt like Eden's character kept repeating over and over and over how she had abandonment issues. I get it, I got it the first 10 times I read it. I got it. I get where her character is coming from... I didn't need to be constantly told. It got to the point I was skipping over the Eden parts because they were so repetitive. Eden had all these abandonment issues but yet she kept wanting to fall into bed with Owen...UGH! That's not a strong MC in my opinion. That is a weak person who can't make up her mind. Eden in my opinion was just more messed up than broken if that makes sense. I didn't feel sorry for her, I felt angry at her.
Owen wasn't much better. The reason he left, ah...nope. I needed it to be better and to stay away for 10 years...I needed it to be better. That was not a good enough reason for me. If I was Eden, I would kick him to the curb. To leave and say nothing for the reasons in the book....I just shook my head and said, "that's it? eh, nope."
So now, I have little to no respect for either of the MCs. Eden keeps running off repeating the same dialog "everyone leaves me" and, Owen "I love you I will never leave you again" and then we have the maniac setting the fires. I loved the maniac setting the fires to be honest. I hate to say that because I have enjoyed Ms. Anne's books in the past. But, this one just rubbed me the wrong way. Ok, Eden mostly, Eden A LOT. I liked the mystery plot, just didn't like the romance.
Will I keep reading? Not sure. Declan could prove interesting and the mystery plot hasn't been resolved. and I am intrigued by the mystery. But, if the heroine in the next book is anything like Eden, I can't do it. I need truly strong heroines, not ones that say they are strong...in a whiny voice, while tearing up, hanging on to a man. I guess I will just have to read the blurb when the next book comes out and make my decision then.
Owen, written by Melody Anne, is the third book in the Undercover Billionaire series. I have read and enjoyed the two previous books. If you haven't read the two previous books, Owen can be interpreted as a standalone, but you will get more enjoyment by reading Kian and Arden first. Owen is a second chance love story packed full of suspense, romance, heartbreak and of course angst. This book is well written, and the characters are well developed and for the most part easy to like.
This book is Owen and Eden’s story. Owen left Eden with no explanation right after high school and then returns ten years later consumed with winning her heart back. Owen’s character is strong, ruggedly handsome and very tenacious when it comes to Eden. I was not thrilled that he dumped Eden with no explanation, although the author does give a somewhat plausible explanation. I did like Eden, but at times she was just a tad too whiny for my taste. She was struggling with abandonment issues, and I do get that Owen hurt her badly. I felt that the author spent too much time in Eden’s head, telling the reader over and over again about how hurt, rejected, discarded and jilted she felt.
There were aspects of the storyline that I enjoy, the push and pulled between the two main characters. The firefighter theme combined with the mystery of who and why the fires were being set did keep me reading. There is an underlying plot twist that connects the two previous book and hopefully will be further explained in the next book. But unfortunately somethings didn't add up for me, the big one being why is Eden, who works for a law firm, investigating the fires? And why were Owen and his brother suspects? That just didn't add up for me.
Overall I did enjoy this book, but not my favorite in the series. I am looking forward to the reading Declan’s story and learning a little more about the man on the hill.
3½ Star Review
I feel like my thoughts and feelings on this book are a double-edged sword. There were many things I loved about this book, but there are things that I didn't like about this book.
Overall, this book was everything. It has angst, suspense, a mystery, and a love story. That combination is rarely a dud in my book. This book is definitely not a dud. I was hooked, wanting to know the who and wanting the happy ever after to come. Melody had me turning the pages from start to finish.
These characters are so easy to like. There isn't a thing to not like about them. They are well written and easy to connect to. I will definitely be going back and reading the other books in this series.
This book brings plenty of action and heat. Some heartbreak. Some sweetness. Some suspense. Throwing in the wonderful characters, and this story is going to be enjoyed by many.
The downfall of this book for me... There was too much wallowing with the main characters. For me, it was overkill. This book could have been just as good, if not better, if some of the consistent wallowing of the characters had been at least cut in half. These continual scenes in this book felt like filler. They weren't all as necessary.
In a nutshell, this book is definitely a good read. It just wasn't a great read for me.
Good combination of second chance romance and suspense. The story opened with the teenage Owen and Eden happy with their relationship and plans for the future. That happiness came crashing down when Owen received a phone call and left town without so much as a goodbye to Eden, much less an explanation as to why he left. Ten years later he returned to town, older, wiser, and determined to win Eden back. Eden was crushed when he left and never really got over it. Determined to protect her heart, she tried to avoid him during the time since he came back. Finally, determined to get him out of her system once and for all, she showed up at his house, where their inflammatory chemistry took over. But her life was turned upside down once again, as her father died while she was with Owen, leaving her with wracking guilt that she could have saved him if she hadn't been with Owen.
Six months later Eden was still trying to get her life back on an even keel. She had lost her mother as a child, then Owen left, then her father died. But Owen's return stirred up so many feelings that she didn't want to deal with. She tried hard to convince herself that she was over him, but lying to herself was never her way. Now things were going from bad to worse. There was an arsonist setting fires around town and in the hills, threatening the very existence of the town. Eden has been tagged to do some interviews of some possible suspects (not sure why someone from a lawyer's office is doing arson investigation work). Investigators believe that the fires may be an inside job, and Owen's recent return puts him on the list. She found it hard to believe, but she also didn't know him well any longer.
Owen refused to give up on his feelings for Eden. He took every opportunity to put himself in her path, but the fires weren't helping. Being a firefighter was a huge part of who he was. When it was him versus the fire, it didn't matter how much money he had in the bank, or if people like him, just defeat the fire. I ached for him as he lost friends and coworkers, and loved his determination to see it stopped.
I liked the rekindling of the relationship between Eden and Owen. The chemistry between them was always there, with Owen all for it and Eden trying to resist. I felt bad for Owen when he was suspected of being the arsonist, especially with Eden being the one to investigate. I liked that Eden's common sense made her realize that there was no way that Owen would be involved. Working together to find the truth gave them the chance to get to know each other again. The biggest obstacle was Eden's reluctance to trust Owen again. I loved how Owen's protectiveness kicked in as the arsonist focused on them. There were some beautiful moments between the two of them as Owen took care of Eden, and Eden supported Owen against the suspicions of his involvement. I also loved how she was there for him when the losses got to him. The rebuilding of their relationship had some ups and downs. I loved seeing them open up about their pasts, their mistakes, and what the future might hold. But Eden especially had difficulty believing that happiness was within her reach. Her fears caused her to pull back several times, and I wanted to shake her each time. Owen had amazing patience with her. I loved how he was able to wait until she worked through her feelings and realized that they belonged together. The ending was both fun and emotional. His gift to his fiancée was amazing, and I loved how it showed how well he understood her. The scene at the wedding reception was sweet, moving, and heart-wrenching at the same time.
The suspense of the story was great. Even though I haven't (yet) read the first two books, there was enough background given that I didn't feel lost. There was the feeling that the fires were part of something bigger, and the ending confirmed it. The suspense began early as some events were shown through the eyes of the bad guy, whose issues with Owen and Eden put them in extreme danger. The escalation of the attacks against them had me on the edge of my seat throughout the book. I loved Eden's strength of will and presence of mind during the confrontation at the end, along with Owen's understandable reactions. I liked the lead-in to the next book and can't wait for Declan's story.
I was unable to finish this book because I thought it was terrible that Owen left his girlfriend Eden when he was "so much in love". No good reason except selfish and I could not get past that fact. I felt very sorry for the heroine Eden and I just couldn't get into the book any longer.
Although I did love Owen's career as a wildfire firefighter. This is an occupation not used and it is an incredibly sexy and rugged job. I hope it is utilized more in other romances.
Once upon a time, Eden and Owen were childhood sweethearts who planned to spend their whole lives together. Then one day Owen vanished without a word. Ten years later he came back and, despite herself, Eden was drawn to him and they ended up in bed again, only for her to discover that her dad had been dying of a heart attack and trying to call her while she was with Owen.
It's now 6 months later, and Eden's still walking around like an open wound. She works for a law office that's investigating whether the recent fires in the area were an inside job, and the top arson suspect immediately jumps out at her: Owen. He's one of the firefighters who's been battling the fires, and despite the grief, anger, and guilt that Owen's presence churns up, everything in Eden rebels against the idea that he could be the one behind those fires. Still, she has a job to do.
Meanwhile, there's definitely an arsonist running around, and he has his sights set on Owen. If he can't get to the man directly, hurting him indirectly via Eden, the woman he loves, is certainly an option.
The is one of the freebies I got at Book Bonanza 2019 - it's signed by the author and I think was included in everyone's goodie bag. It's the third book in a series and I hadn't read the first two, but that didn't seem to make too much of a difference beyond the moments when it was obvious I was meeting the leads of one of the previous books. Also, I never got an explanation for why a bunch of billionaire brothers were pretending to be regular guys while absolutely no one batted an eyelash over it. Billionaire firefighter, regularly risking his life to fight fires just so, I don't know, he wouldn't have to wallow in billionaire ennui?
Right from the start, this book didn't really appeal to me. Too repetitive and melodramatic, and while I realize that Eden was still grieving for her father, she didn't read like the supposedly strong woman she was supposed to be. Also, it didn't feel at all like she knew how to do her job, and it was mind-boggling how long it took her to admit to her boss that she had an enormous conflict of interest. And after she told her boss...she went and made it worse by having sex with Owen, the guy who was considered the prime arson suspect.
Considering how distracted Eden was by her grief, guilt, and lust for Owen, it should have been easy for the villain and his henchmen to kill her, but they were stupid too. It sounded like this villain has at least been around since the second book and maybe since the beginning of the series, and I have no idea how he's managed to avoid being caught. He's the sort who'd definitely cackle evilly on the sidelines.
I considered DNFing this at one point and probably should have. Well, I finished it, but I don't plan on seeking out any more by this author.
Another winner! I loved Owen and Eden's story in this second chance romance. Owen and Eden had been in love when they were teens when Owen disappeared without a word and stayed gone for ten years. His disappearance gutted Eden and she never completely got over him. Then a series of difficult events leaves her even more off balance when she is then forced to work with Owen....but Owen has his own demons in his past.
I loved the characters and their histories and loved the way they interacted together. This is an engaging story that grabbed me from the very first page and kept me engaged until the very last page. It is a fast paced romantic suspense that fans of the genre will love. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, the series is so good that you really owe to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
Second chance romance is not really my thing, but this story is really sweet and entertaining. I could tell Owen and Eden were meant for each other, however he left town without so much as a goodbye when he was 19 and Eden was 17. They were young and in love, then why did he do that?
Fast forward ten years later, there's an arsonist in town. Owen is back and is now a firefighter helping to put down the flames that are spreading too fast. Eden is in charge of investigating who's behind all of the tragedy.
About Owen, Eden suddendly finds herself torn wondering if he's the same man she once loved, if her feelings for him are still strong, can they come back to what they were?
Overall I enjoyed it and some parts were really sad and VERY emotional. I recommend it! 4/5
PS. I really want Declan's book now!
Melody Anne is fierce when it comes to family. Whether it be touching our hearts with the Andersen clan or tempting the senses with the Forbes brood, love and loyalty play a key role. Like every other Anne enthusiast I adore the Andersens, but I have to say I'm in awe of these bad boy Forbes brothers. They prove that no family is perfect, but love can make it through even the toughest of situations. Owen is a tale of broken hearts, hidden agendas and second chances. Young love morphs into adult suspicion and two hearts may never be the same. Haunted by heartache. Stalked by danger. Can the boy that ran away reclaim the life he left behind? Eden and Owen are a force to be reckoned with.
Hot billionaire fire fighter coming your way!!
This is Owen, book3 of Melody Anne’s series, Undercover Billionaire. I think Owen is my favorite Forbes so far! (That is only until Declan comes out... wink..wink...) Owen is back in town after a ten year absence. Can he convince Eden to give him another chance after he broke her heart? Why did he leave town so abruptly before? And who is trying to burn down the whole town?!? Don’t miss this one!!
DNF
Well this was a first for me... I DNF one of this author's books.
I struggled feeling any sort of connection between the characters. I get the anger, frustration and hell even hatred for Owen after the way he disappeared on Eden. But to literally fall into his arms seconds after seeing him again? She was too desperate for me.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the third book in the series, and whilst it stands well on its own, you will get to see how two of his siblings find their true loves - and there are some parallels.
Owen disappeared out of Eden's life ten years ago, but now wants back in. The chemistry is most definitely there, but the trust is missing. The one time that she gave in to it, a truly tragic event marred the evening.
Eden stayed in their home town, and is now trying to discover who is setting fires which have the power to destroy it. As the danger grows, I could not believe that neither of them take more care - Eden in particular seems to want to tempt fate to end her life. This is quite ironic as she has decided that she no longer believes in fate.
As in many books, there were times when they could have just said something, but no, they only thought it instead! Grrr, but it built up the drama, and gave the best result at the end. Another small town love story that Melody Anne has imbued with her matchmaking magic.
Owen (Undercover Billionaire #3) by Melody Anne
3 stars
M/F Mystery, second chance romance
Triggers: Arson and Drugs
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
Owen is a firefighter who is trying to save his own town. There is an arsonist who is causing chaos in his town and he's determined to figure out who it is and why. But, Owen is also there because he ran away years ago and left behind his heart. Owen's character, for me, was somewhat weak. He lacked true development for me. He was mainly surface tough and there wasn't enough meat to his character. I wanted his reasons for leaving behind everything and everyone he knew to be more significant as well. His belief that he was doing something worthy was lacking conviction throughout the story.
Then you have Eden. She too was lacking in development and substance. Her reasoning for shying away from people was that "everyone leaves her". But, she also isn't great at seeking people out who would be there for her. While she's doing her job, she has to interact with Owen, the man who broke her heart years ago. She holds a deep hatred/love for Owen. Her character is more what I would expect from a YA story.
Overall, while I enjoyed the mystery aspect of the story, the romance story was lacking for me. I really wanted to connect with their story, but overall, it was too YA.
Owen and Eden were planning a future together when he just disappeared. Now 10 years later, Owen is back and there is an arsonist out their putting Eden in danger. What happens when Owen becomes the biggest suspect? Fast-paced read with steamy chemistry and an entertaining story. I liked it.
Trigger warnings for Owen: death of a parent, fire, burn victim
What can I say? This book wasn't for me. I felt the need to finish it as I won it in a Goodreads giveaway. According to Goodreads, I started reading Owen on December 8, 2018. I have sat my Kindle down and re-started this book at least 3 times.
I had a lot of trouble with the death of the parent. Death of a loved one is my greatest fear so it was very triggering for me. This month when I finally decided to get through it, I had to shut down my emotions to read about the death.
But even once we got through that chunk at the beginning, I tried to be into this romance. But I actually ended up anti their love story!
I think Eden deserved better than Owen. He left her behind and "developed as a human being". So what, because she stayed in her hometown she never developed? If she did that wasn't portrayed in the story.
Even if they didn't have text messaging when Owen first left, they definitely had email. He couldn't shoot Eden a quick email breaking it off.. Telling her he had to go... Whatever. Anything to give her closure and let her move on. Of course he didn't do that because he wanted to keep her tethered just in case he decided to fall back on her one day.
I buy that these characters have major attraction to each other. I don't buy that they are meant to be or should get married. Oh SPOILER ALERT: At the end she takes off and comes back with a dog then decides to get married. We hear nothing from her while she's gone. I guess she finally got to go get that "develop as a human being" part that Owen got but, as the reader, we don't get to read about this development. It's entirely off the page. We just listen to Owen whine about being left behind just like he did to her.
Thank you for the Kindle copy and I'm sorry I wasn't a fan. Hopefully, other readers have a different experience than I did!
Melody Anne is a good writer of family, love, connection, second chances, pain, loss and happy ever after. This one is definitely a story of second chances between Eden Skultz and Owen Forbes. They knew each as teenagers and promised their undying love to one another until Owen left without looking back or with any explanation as to why. Now he’s back in town looking better than ever and Eden still doesn’t know why he left or why he’s back. However, she has a job to do, she is investigating Owen regarding the fires that are nearly taking out their town. She is trying to keep it professional until the bad guys start coming after her and Owen. Then things really get interesting between them.
For the most part I enjoyed this story. The author did a great job balancing the roles of the hero and heroine without one overshadowing the other. It was clear that Owen was so sorry about how he left and understood why he could have handled things differently. While Eden was hurt by his behavior her character wasn’t written in such a way that her anger was over the top. They were both very mature in the way they approached that particular hot topic. I enjoyed the interaction of Owen’s family in the story. This adds some fun humor which family can sometimes bring.
The part of the story that had me stumped was the fact that there didn’t seem to be any reason why Owen or his brother, Declan would be investigated as to being possible suspects in starting the fires. This wasn’t made clear to me in this plot of the story. It felt like Eden just decided they might be guilty and so Owen was put on leave while she looked into the situation. I did enjoy getting to know these characters.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
I love the Forbes brothers and Owen did not disappoint. This story was all about second chances and of course there was some suspense!
Right now, in this moment, life was perfect. She couldn’t image that would all change in the blink of an eye.
Owen and Eden were high school sweethearts, until Owen left without a word and left Eden heartbroken. Though neither of them ever got over each other. Living in the same small town again after 10 years, it is hard to stay away from the one person you truly care about. Eden has experienced a lot of loss and pain throughout her life and letting one of those people who left her back in is not easy, but Owen isn’t willing to give up on her.
This is book three in Melody Anne’s Billionaires Undercover series, so of course we got more of the other Forbes’s family members, which I absolutely love. There is a fire destroying the entire city and someone is behind it, though no one knows who. It definitely adds a suspenseful element to the romance.
She truly was a ray of sunshine in a hell of a lot of darkness.
I loved watching these two find each other again. Owen thought he was doing the right thing when he left town ten years ago, but I love that he was willing to do anything to prove to Eden that he made a mistake and that he still loves her. I loved that eventually Eden was able to come to terms with everything that had happened in her life and open up again.
I can’t wait for the fourth book in the series, the ending of this one definitely left me wanting more and wanting to know more about the mysterious Forbes brother, Declan.
This book had it all. Second chance romance, action and suspense. Owen and Eden were high school sweethearts. They truly loved one another. Something happened and Owen left town without even saying goodbye to Eden. Years later he moved back. The first time they were together again something really bad happened to one of Eden’s family members. She blamed Owen for a while. Owen still loved her, and worked hard to gain her trust again.
Someone was after both Owen, and Eden. I loved Owen’s family. They pulled together to take care of, and help protect each family member. I loved how close they were. The danger brought Eden and Owen closer throughout the story. The town was on fire, and Own worked with his team to put out the fires. Eden was an investigator and was working hard to find out who was starting the fires. Some of the action was intense.
Eden had received advice from her father. This is the best advice that I’ve ever heard. “Sample from chapter 31 – You live your life unafraid. You remember who you are, that no one is better than you, and you’re better than no one. You live each day as if it’s your last, but you live each moment as if you have forever. Don’t let fear bury you. Don’t let yesterday define you, and don’t let tomorrow scare you. Live your truth and share your light with the world. And then each night you can rest with a clear head and an open heart.”
This is part of a series, but read as a standalone. It did go into the next book a little, and I look forward to reading the 4th book. I loved this book.
This book has all the feels, love, hate, guilt, and it has suspense and mystery. I loved Owens story. He may be my favorite brother. When the only true love of your life comes waltzing back in after breaking your heart years ago what can you do but try to avoid him. Owen left town without Eden and without explanation. Now that he's back she doesn't want to be effected by him but he's larger than life. A hero to boot, what firefighter isn't. But when someone sets fire to the mountains and she has to investigate can she look past her broken heart and see it can't be him or did he come back as someone she doesn't recognize. After losing her dad Eden has a hard time moving on. She lost the one person that meant the most to her and now it seems someone is out to get her. Getting to close to the culprits is dangerous but Owen is determined to save her at whatever costs to himself. In a relationship complicated with secrets and loss can these two ever find their way back to each other. One of the most touching moments for me was in the epilogue, I literally sat there reading with tears streaming down my face. You can feel the emotion coming from this authors own real life loss. Losing a parent is a pain like no other. Melody, you did the father daughter relationship justice in your written words
One day they’d been fine. He’s been telling her how much she meant to him. She’s been secure. And then the next—he was gone.
As far as second chance romances go this was pretty standard. However, this was also a mystery that apparently started in book one, Kian, and continued in book two, Arden. I didn’t read those books so I wasn’t sure why the evil mastermind is so angry and has it out for this family. Yes, I was able to put it together but I wasn’t invested becaue I didn’t read the first two books. I just didn’t care.
I also didn’t like Owen very much. I feel like he took Eden for granted. He took her love for granted. He would come home and visit every couple of months or years just to...I don’t know. Torture her. He sees it as checking up on her but it was cruel. In those ten years she had to learn to live without him and just hope to get glimpses of him when he visited. She never moved on and he knew it. Why? Why, did it take him ten years to return? After finding out his reasoning behind leaving her I hated him even more. It wasn’t enough.
Was it cute. Yes. Did I finish it. Obviously. Did I like it. I’m torn. It wasn’t bad. It just want good. The absolute worst part is that it ends with Declan his older brother and a possible book number four and I’m dying to read it! I need more Declan.
I want to start out positively with the storyline being intriguing, very angsty and please stop the psycho now, edge of my seat read. Great potential!!
I love billionare heroes, the Forbes men are caring, rather regular guys who look out for their families and community. Owen, however, needed a bit more redemption for just up and leaving 10 freaking years ago, not telling anyone! That's a hard one for me to get over, unless he was dead or dying. His explanation wasn't very realistic, or it was missing some key components, but at least he didnt repeat himself.
I just could not get into Eden. I get that she felt betrayed, that everyone left her, but I don't think it needed reiterating every chapter. I felt she seemed spoiled, bratty, and super indecisive, taking away from the reality of someone wanting them dead.
I do wish there would have been more thought and realism to the dangers lurking.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the sex for me, just got in the way and muddled things, rather like a B grade movie.
I do look forward to reading the next in this series. Each book has it's own HEA, but there is a connection I am most anxious to find out about.
I received an ARC thru Net Galley/Montlake and am giving my honest review.
The fire starts right from the opening of this story and I'm not talking about the actual fire!! Owen, by Melody Anne, starts off racing and just keeps burning till the end. This is a wonderful story of second chances, making things right and finding peace.
The fast paced story of Owen and Eden is a whirlwind from being high school/early life sweethearts until Owen just ups and disappears. When Owen returns, he returns with all his ALPHA tendencies and isn't backing down. Eden was crushed when Owen disappeared but one night of weakness with Owen turns her life upside down yet again. With a lot of hurt and anger, she is not sure she can take the dive back in.
When a fire is takes over the town she loves so much and she has to investigate, Owen is at the top of her list. Can she do it? You'll have to read it and find out!!! You won't be disappointed.
The ending has left me with a need to read the next installment!!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The story of the Forbes brothers just get more and more interesting. In Arden, the previous book, the story was filled with mystery. Owens was ALL suspense.
For Owen and Eden, this is their second chance at love. Though years had passed their love is as true as it was when they were teenagers but poor Eden has a devastating blow in life and after that the town and characters face dangers throughout the entire story.
I truly LOVED their story. Owen was devoted to Eden from the first moment he was introduced and his patience for her to come around was immeasurable. He was SO good to her. They knew each other so well, he knew what she needed when she needed it - even when she was pushing him away.
And Eden! She was such a strong character. I loved that not even with everything she was going through did she get whiny. She was independent and determined to try and handle things on her own, even if it was just to try before asking for help. She was willing to try her limits and learn what she could handle on her own and when she needed to lean on someone.
So far, this is my FAVORITE in the series, but I have a feeling that Declan’s story is going to blow my mind.
I received Owen as part of a Goodreads giveaway.
A decade ago, Eden's teenage heart was broken when her first love Owen left one night without a trace. Now he's back as a firefighter in their small hometown of Edmonds, Washington, and makes no secret of wanting to make things right with her. However, in the midst of his wooing, an arsonist begins to target the town and Eden in particular. No one is above suspicion, even Owen himself. Can the pair find the culprit and rekindle their flame?
This was...fine. There really wasn't anything tying me to the characters; I didn't get a good sense of the personality and the arson plotline didn't really pull me in. It's one of a series in which Owen and his brothers find their soul mates and joining in at book 3 may have admittedly put me at a disadvantage. Still, it felt like a phoned in effort. Also, note to romance novelists: you do not have to make every hero a billionaire. It made no sense within the context of this story, just a random thing thrown in at the end. Perfectly healthy and happy relationships can flourish within the middle class.
