I tried. Just hated it. Maybe being a sydneysider was a drawback as the "research" was so blatant - I felt like I was reading the detailed notes of an enthusiastic visitor trying to swot up on every famous Sydney landmark rather than reading a novel. Seriously, who lives in whale beach and wanders down to the rocks for a coffee and a smoke!!! Sorry, I just couldn't stick it out.

Keistas jausmas skaityti knygą išvestą ir išleistą prieš 25 metus. Tokios pirmos mintys skaitant knygą. Negaliu įvardinti konkrečių vietų, bet toks grubokas įspūdis susidarė. Bet čia gal autoriaus stilius toks.

Knyga man patiko.

On the face of it, a good murder mystery and suspense story but the book also delves deeply into profound subjects such as the origins of life, philosophy, physics and lots of information on snakes and humans.

This was the book that made me decide to start reviewing everything I read. As I was reading it I knew I'd read it before but could never remember what happened so continued on. I reached the unsatisfactory ending and wished I'd remembered how disappointing it was before I started reading it. From this simple critique was born the long bloated analyses I now find myself writing.

A fast paced thriller that was constantly slowed down by the author's desire to show off his immense knowledge of every subject. It was an easy & enjoyable read, when it wasn't bogged down by unnecessary science, but the conclusion was overblown.

This is a very good Danish thriller with a lot of science thrown in for good measure. I wish the story was allowed to unfold without all the info, but the book is hard to put down and that's the most important in any thriller, I think.

good start, increasingly poor as the book progresses
