The investigation into the murder of Hymie Villarosa has come to a stunning end. Now, Detective Evan Parker is left to pick up the pieces. The problem is, the puzzle is more complex than he realized, leading to a human trafficking ring that has become so massive that even the Feds are involved. But that’s not the worst of it. Parker’s haunting memories from his time fighting the war in Afghanistan are threatening to consume him more than ever. Still wrestling with his forbidden love for a woman now lost to him, Father Bernardino Soltera struggles to save one of his parishioners, sixteen-year-old Luisa Martinez. Pregnant and being threatened by her ruthless ex-boyfriend into getting an abortion, Father Soltera has managed to get her to a women’s shelter and the capable care of case worker Maggie Kincaid. But despite everyone’s best efforts, things are about to get very deadly. In the meantime, saved by forces beyond his comprehension, Hector Villarosa, Hymie’s cousin, is now on the run. With the police and his conscience closing in on all sides, Hector has no choice but to face up to a mysterious stranger in gray who has a message for him that he doesn’t want to hear. But with his very soul at stake, Hector’s about to realize that you can run, and you can hide, but it’s a hell of a way to die.
As the newest book in The Parker Trilogy unfolds, it’s about to become apparent that angels and demons not only walk the streets of East Los Angeles…but the back alleys of our hearts and minds as well.
Tony Faggioli was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and raised in Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of Southern California and is a happily married father of two kids, two dogs and a pretty awesome goldfish.
I happened to find Tony Faggioli's book, One in a Million, while browsing through a book site for something to read. I've now read all his books in the Fasano trilogy and just finished book 2 in the Parker Series. I'm waiting for Book 3 One Gray Day to come out. After reading all of these books, I can easily say I will read anything with Tony Faggioli's name on it. The worlds that come alive in his writing are the personification of good versus evil. We see the day to day world we are born into but we also experience the in-between realm that is dominated by evil. There are beings that can slip through the veil between realms. Some are sent to help but others are pure evil sent to tempt or terrorize people to do their worst.
Evan Parker is a good man who came out of his second tour in Afghanistan and Iraq with PTSD. The death of his LAPD partner, Napoleon Villa, is almost too much added to his already shaky grip on daily life. He knows he sometimes disappears into the past but does his best to hide the flashbacks. Parker needs to work, to have something to focus on. The gangs are still spreading drugs and death and it's his job to stop them. His relationship with Trudy is suffering as she hears the nightmares and sees what they're doing to Parker. He's afraid to admit his lack of control to the woman he loves.
Mr Faggioli writes life into his characters. The stories are complex and interesting. I highly recommend his books to those who like to read about what is and what could be.
This is a burn up your Kindle, can't put it down, page turner just like any and all of Tony's books that you elect to read. If you need a place to start, it's totally okay to start here even though it does pick up where book one left off, so you might be better off reading that one first. However, don't be discouraged, because you can easily learn the characters and the plot here because the book is so wonderfully written, everything developed amazingly well, and captures you from the beginning! Each character actually has his own story which makes the book even better, but that being said, once you read ANY Tony Faggioli book you'll want to read more. No spoilers: action, thrills, adventure and characters you love to love, want to love but absolutely love to hate as well. A fast paced page turner, find a quiet place where you won't be interrupted and dive in!
The first book of Tony Faggioli's that I read was the psychological thriller The Snow Globe. I was so impressed with his skill as a writer that I next read his Millionth Trilogy. One Way or Another is Book Two of The Parker Trilogy whom we met in the Millionth Trilogy and in this book we also revisit Maggie, the main character in The Snow Globe. All of these novels make for a good read on their own but do yourself a favour if you can, and read them all so that you can fully understand the nature of the characters. I don't like 'describing' a book too much as I believe it takes away from what the Author themselves has written to pique your interest in the first place. If you enjoy a book that not only keeps you turning the page but gives you food for thought as well, then you can't go wrong with this collection of books. Happy reading everyone.
Speed and demons took over the 2nd book of this trilogy. The triad of characters have come together violently. Lives hang in the balance. The supernatural that threaded through the first book takes center stage. Either through dream, coma, or active light of day, demons or heavenly messengers are taking charge of our characters’ plot line. This time it’s a headlong rush to the end of the book. As I’ve feared it’s not the end of the story. And it won’t be a quick download to see what happens next. The third boo isn’t out yet. Grrr. I just hate it when that happens
"Evey winner has a future, every saint has a past." In trying to help Luisa, a young, pregnant parishioner, Father Soltera has put his life at risk. His soul, he believed, was already forfeit by his love for Gabrielle. But far more is happening than local gang troubles: trafficking and betrayal and murder. And Detective Parker's old partner wasn't dead, after all. "He was alive...just in a different sorts way."
Exciting, intriguing and unexpected, Tony Faggioli's One Way or Another, is well written and a pleasure to read.
By far and away, my favourite author. I look forward to every book release, and they never disappoint. The least frightening, but a wonderful continuation of Parker's tale, and it has set up the next one brilliantly. Can't wait for it, well done!
Wow this is another thrilling story that grabs you by the throat and takes you on a thrill fill ride till the end ! And characters that seem like old friends. I love these books
I always enjoy Tony Faggioli’s creativity, and I love how he keeps the characters we got to know from the 1st series relevant while introducing and developing new characters. Great plot with unexpected twists and turns that keep you turning pages, I cannot wait for the next book.
I have never read A book quite like this one. The first book was kind boggling and this second book is even more so. The warfare in the Angelic reign must be read twice to understand. You will not be disappointed I Assure You!
