Challenges: The Foresters

Rate this book
First impressions can be wrong.
Lori Forester’s five older brothers raised her to ride like an Indian, shoot the head off a match with blinding speed, and hunt with skill and cunning, like a brother. Though, she also has the skills of a lady. In 1888, men challenge her will and create situations that test her fortitude. Her keen wit and beauty flock men to her, but only one gives her what the others don’t—admiration for all her capabilities.

Sue A. Hart believes that romance is only part of the story. Thus she says, 'It's more than romance, it's an escape for the reader.' Family plays a part in the lives of most people, whether you want to conk them over the head or give them a hug. No one has a perfect family, therefore she believes a book should reveal this as well. Her books are character driven with adventure and dangerous threats keeping a reader's interest. The women are brave, sensible, with extraordinary abilities. They also have strong men who love them.

Giddyup!!

I had the pleasure of reading this before it was published, and am thrilled it is now available for purchase.

Challenges transports the reader to the wild-west with the Forresters, a family of men and one “take no prisoners” feminist. The family dynamics are real, touching, and at times, hysterical. Hot-headed Lori is a perfect role model for young women – strong, opinionated and passionate.

This book is chock-full of characters to fall in love with and root for. Highly recommended.

This book captivated me from the first page, and it continued to draw me in all the way to the end. The historical authenticity and detail throughout show Sue's obvious research of the settings, the attitudes and the behaviours of the period. This is a character-driven story, and Sue is a master at bringing them to life through their natural dialogue and interactions. A must read.

Headstrong women, sexy cowboys equal a fun read! I'm not much into romance but enjoyed the old American West setting of this novel and the humorous situations the characters got themselves into.

Hart has brought to life an exciting, well-researched tale of the Wild West. Her protagonist, Lori, is a dynamic, bold, sometimes mischievous character that every reader will fall in love with. Though this book is considered a romance, there is much action, world-building, and heartwarming humour that keeps us on our toes. It was a pleasure to read and I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more by this author.

A fun read with plenty of action

A fun read whose heroine, Lori, is surrounded by a passel of brothers who taught all the skills a good cowhand would need but are unprepared for the beautiful young woman she’s become. The men flock to her and with the admirers comes trouble. Sue Hart keeps the story’s pace moving with plenty of action and playful banter between the characters. I highly recommend this enjoyable story.
