The Hold Intangible

Rate this book
Prom should be an evening filled with glamour, excitement and possibilities – and definitely not murder. Morgan Moon was having the time of her life. She was finally coming out of her shell, and ready to take her relationship with her boyfriend to the next level. But the moment never came. Instead, she was stabbed to death in the stairwell of the Fort Worth Diamond Hotel, the identity of her attacker a complete mystery. But for Morgan, death is not the end. When some people die, they come back as a Wraith, an immaterial being trapped to the location of their demise and seen only by a few. Over time, a Wraith will descend into cold despair, fading out until they disappear completely. The only way to stop the fade is to find purpose beyond death. For Morgan, that purpose is Who killed me? Aided by an amulet-wielding witch, an old friend with an uncanny amount of luck, and a devilishly cute Wraith named Oscar, Morgan must search the hotel and put the pieces together to find her killer - before he strikes again. The Hold Intangible is Book 1 in Josiah Upton's brand new paranormal fantasy series Fort Weird. Its sequel, The Thirst Eternal, releases on September 18th!

STEP OFF THE DEEP END!!!
OMG! What an amazing and thrilling ride. I was hooked from the very beginning. If you're looking for a steady paced, action galore, with all the drama that makes a great read. Congrats my friends you've just stepped off in it. The characters and scenes were realistic, intriguing and complex with an undercurrent you could feel as the tale unfolds. Following the characters along mesmerized as their personalities blossomed and grew. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive it gave the illusion you were right there in ground zero with them. Twists and turns abound with unexpected surprises that kept me captivated and focused on this page turning bombshell. With all the suspense and danger at every corner, this read brings a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Heart pounding, pulse racing and the adrenaline pumping that keeps your attention from the first paragraph until the very last word. Upton did an incredible job bringing this read to life. Great job Josiah and thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Great YA read

I was originally drawn to this story by the author's description of how he came up with the idea for the story. It is definitely an unconventional idea, this story of a young woman who is murdered on her prom night and becomes a wraith. Her determination to discover her killed her keeps her from fading out. It took a few chapters to get into the story, but I'm glad I kept going because it turned into a great read!

I absolutely love this story. There is teenage drama and ghosts and evil entities. It also has comedy, what more can you ask from a book. I have read several of Josiah's books and they just keep getting better! You really should read this one! Thanks Josiah!

Disclaimer: I was given this book for free, asking me to leave an honest review of it.

I liked the story and it has some real potential. The prologue drew me in right away, but then the beginning after that was a little slow and took me a little while to get into. I liked some of the imagery, "Her red lips were frosted like a rose in the dead of winter . . . " but sometimes, the author seemed to be trying too hard.

I thought that the author tied everything together nicely; how the prologue intrigued me and then later definitely tied into the story. There was mystery, comedy, supernatural, suspense and even a little romance.

The characters weren't as developed as I'd like. For example, MacKenzie was just kind of barely there and we never really got to know her. She was the twin sister, so I thought she could've played in more prominently, or at least let us get to know her better. Many of characters were a little superficial.

But overall, this was a nice read. I think that the author has a lot of potential and that he can definitely put together a story.

I received this book as an ARC and I wanted to post my review here.
Normally I never would have picked a ghost/wraith story because they are very haunting and scary (like they should). With this book it was just amazing how the story unraveled from a twin girl to a wraith girl. I loved how it was explained what she was and how it became it gave a very clear picture about Morgan but idem dito for the other characters. The way Josiah discribes the characters is amazing they all have their own identity and this brings you closer to the story. Telling how disintegration works was also a smart move (just as explaining how they could be different) soo that everyone can get the complete picture. The story had excitement, distrust, love and more. And it was all in harmony together, I loved this book so much that I would love to read more :D

If you are looking for a murder mystery that mixes with a ghost story then this is the perfect book. The groundwork is laid quickly and efficiently so the bulk of the book is left for plot twists and character development. While some of the information the reader can see coming, most of the twists are full of surprise and suspense. A good mystery provides just enough clues so that when the ending is revealed it all fits together and makes sense, but while the story is unfolding the ending isn't obvious or predictable. This story hits that nail in the head. I am not usually one for ghost stories because they always seem so far fetched. While the basis of this story isn't going to happen in every day life, the concept is woven just so that it leaves the reader imagining it could happen. This combination of events that could really happen mixed with the paranormal leaves the reader with a chill that doesn't quite go away once the story is over. All in all this book has enough elements to satisfy both the murder mystery lover and the paranormal lover and is written in such a way that will leave the reader searching for additional works by this author.
