This one was similar to one of my favorite series, Lazarus by Cynthia Eden.
But you have got a older, shy, intelligent heroine and charming smitten younger soldier turned Cyborg, so what not to love!
I loved the romance and story. Main and secondary characters were lovable.
Waiting for next in series.

This was a really good start to a new cyborg series. I’ve read saucy stories by Ms Anderson before but Mina Carter is a new author to me and if this is typical then I’m definitely looking out for more from her.
Essentially this story hits the ground running with a cyborg squad disobeying orders to wipe out settlers. They escape and go rogue but one of them is badly hurt/damaged needing urgent medical attention. Now it just so happens that Unit 77 keeps remembering Claudia the doctor who irrevocably changed their bodies and sets out to retrieve her in order to save his teammate. Trouble is Unit 77 wasn’t exactly brain dead when resurrected and the only one who can help is the woman who he yearns for but knows is a traitor and not to be trusted.
This story resonates so much with the feelings of Unit 77 as he has flashbacks to the man he was before the cybernetics turned him into what he considers to be a monster. That right there is when this reader could see the man within and not just the machine. I did enjoy reading about the burgeoning camaraderie between the various cyborg soldiers too and thought they each showed different personality traits which made for a much more rounded view. If I’m brutal I thought Claudia had been so naive as to be almost unbelievable but she does come through so I grudgingly forgive her blinkered behaviour.
I’m very intrigued by the way this story ended and would recommend this if you have previously enjoyed cyborg books by Eve Langlais or Laurann Dohner . This definitely held my attention but was perhaps shorter than I prefer but nevertheless had a good mixture of action and romance without being overly sexy .
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

This is such a great start to a new series.
For a quick summary I'll say that the world is very different now, cyborgs were created from solders who had died in battle. However, there is a group of cyborgs that have gone rogue and aren't following orders anymore.
So, why is this group able to think for themselves? Why is the doctor in charge of the cybernetics not allowed to know more about the program?
This book focuses on the man/cyborg in charge of the rogues and the doctor. His memories of her are coming back and he doesn't understand why he thinks of her so much. And she carries around the guilt of turning him into a "monster."

I can't wait to see how this series progresses and how much more these authors can come up with. They're truly amazing and keep me entertained from start to finish.

Do you love delicious hero's and spunky heroine's? This little story packs a huge wallop and you will not be disappointed!

Captain Drew Fischer has been changed, along with his men, into cyborgs. Changed by the very doctor that Drew had fallen in love with... changed because of a horrible betrayal. And now they think themselves monsters.

But these men are anything but monsters. They have honor and bravery and a sense of justice that is blatant in everything they do.

Life on an alien world is dangerous... I would want these cyborgs protecting me!

It's a very sexy love story and I cannot wait for the next in the series.... Mina Carter and Evangeline
Anderson have a big hit on their hands!

My one complaint? It is too short! I wanted more!

It may have four stars, as a treat, mostly because I enjoyed how indulgent it was. The heroine was tricked into turning not-yet-dead soldiers into cyborgs and so they can rebel against their orders and seek freedom, and oh yes: one of them can fall in love with her. It's great! It's short! There's sex! There's some action! Mm, cyborgs.

There's not much I can say because there's nothing more to it - no real worldbuilding, no real character work, and that's okay, it's wonderful and I needed something low-stress this weekend. I'd recommend if you want hot cyborg lovin' in your life.

This has an interesting premise and it is a promising start to the series. However, it is very juvenile the written. Everything from the characters descriptions and dialogue to the world building could use a little more maturity.

Essentially this is the story about a Doctor who thought she was doing experimental research on corpses. Unfortunately, they weren’t all completely dead. Those that weren’t suffered through a long internal battle between the men they once were and the machines they were expected to become…. And somehow, that’s turned ordinary soldiers into someone dickish “alphas”.

REVIEW: 3.5 stars--UNIT 77: BROKEN is the first instalment the CyBRG Files, a sci-fi, romance series co-authored by Mina Carter and Evangeline Anderson. This is Dr. Claudia Chambers, and Unit 77 aka Captain Drew Fischer’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Claudia and Drew) UNIT 77: BROKEN follows the Space Corps Marines elite unit commanded by Drew Fischer. No longer human but cybernetic hybrids of man and steel, a military experiment using once- dead soldiers created an army of powerful but controllable units. With no memories from the past, this elite group of cyborgs should have obeyed but a small number of soldiers have gone rogue including their leader Unit 77 aka Captain Drew Fischer. On the run, an injured cyborg needs immediate medical attention, and Unit 77 knows the exact person from whom this attention will be met. Enter Dr. Claudia Chambers, the doctor who transformed the dead men into automated soldiers, and the woman with whom Drew will fall in love. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Claudia and Drew, and the potential fall-out as Drew struggles with issues of trust for the woman he loves.

Once upon a time Drew and Claudia were lovers but a military disaster destroyed all semblance of humanity and love. Slowly, over the course of time, Unit 77’s memories of a time before bring with it the knowledge of something more than the automated drones the men had become. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense but felt forced and unnatural. Flashbacks and memories recall an earlier relationship between Claudia and Drew.

We are introduced to a small number of Unit 77’s fellow cyborgs, men who are slowly regaining their humanity, along with the memories of what happened and why. The personalities are varied; our story line hero struggles to let go.

Carter and Anderson have borrowed concepts from Star Trek and Starship Troopers in order to create a blend of sci-fi and romance. The premise is imaginative but familiar; the romance is fated; the characters are colorful, intriguing but damaged.

Unit 77: Broken (CyBRG Files Book 1) Evangeline Anderson and Mina Carter

A very exciting new series featuring great characters in a collaboration from one of my favorite authors, Evangeline Anderson and Mina Carter.
Evangeline’s talent for writing amazing aliens, paranormal shifters etc., has now branched off into cyborgs. This story played out amazingly well, slowly revealing secrets to these ex-soldiers and how they were turned into half cyborgs.
I especially loved the two main characters. Drew is the captain of his unit and has given the number 77 as his name, which further dehumanizes him. Only problem is he’s having some flashbacks as to his pre-cyborg life and is also finding he still has a major moral code that he is somehow able follow and overrides orders from his commander sent thru the CyBRG implant.
I loved Claudia, not only is she a highly intelligent skilled surgeon she is also a dedicated healer. Best of all she is 10 years older than Drew (now 77) whom she was forming a relationship with prior him becoming a cyborg. She knows he is in there somewhere. Unit 77 remembers desiring Claudia but now he believes he is a monster that is half metal.
The storyline is full on action, adventure, danger ,passion, and focuses on these CyBRG soldiers finding their way back to “themselves” and autonomy.
There is also the set up for the next book in this addicting series, which promises to be amazing and will hopefully be released quickly.

Drew and his men have been turned into a new type of soldier, CyBRG. But he starts feeling things. Things that shouldn’t be. He starts remembering too. When one of his men is hurt in a failed attack, he needs Claudia’s help. Claudia “Doc” thought she was helping with the design of the soldiers. She didn’t know what was happening to the soldiers. And when Drew “Unit 77” comes for her, she can only hope that she can make it right.

I have to say this is a bit different. Most of the times the Cyborgs still have conscious thought. But these guys had to slow relearn. Granted Drew started feeling something off when he was sent to handle that raid but still. And the fact that he still had the feelings for Claudia was different. I was a bit upset when he treated her a bit harshly. He should have known better from the beginning. But it all worked out. I’m looking forward to find out what happens next with this group. And the description of the “Hoppers.” I would not want to meet them, EVER.

Claudia and Unit 77/Drew

As a military Doctor, Claudia was forced to install the hardware in Drew and his Unit. She was assured they were dead already; the equipment was broken that would have assured her they were brain dead.

Unit 77 refuses an order to kill village people, he has snatches of memory from before that tell him that you don't kill people. The same people he remembers protecting. When one of his unit is shot because they refuse to follow orders Unit 77 kidnapped the Doctor he remembers to save his injured man.

Claudia always thought that she and Drew would have a future something together but then he was killed and she turned him into a Cyborg. She hasn't been able to forget him. She is surprised to find there are traces of the old Drew in Unit 77.

Interesting twist to a Cyborg and human romance. I wish the story wasn't so short so that there would have been more exploration of their relationship and romance; it was a pretty rushed story.

Great Cyborg story – a New Favorite!!

Between the technical details of the cyborgs and the CyBRG device – short for Cybernetic Brain Re-routing Gear; we get detailed insight into what makes up these creations. Dr. Claudia Chambers is touched when she must convert her now brain-dead friend into a cyborg. When the cyborg (Unit 77 / Drew) makes some decisions on his own, and listens to the “little voice in his head” instead of his instructions things get interesting.

Turns out the head of the program may not be a good guy, and the “rogue” cyborgs may just be the “good guys”. Doc gets caught up in this when she is kidnapped to “repair” one of the cyborgs. As the humanity slips through the mechanics we are treated to a delightful story full of danger, intrigue, Hoppers (must read it to find out) and romance.

Excellent read – looking forward to more in this series!!

What a great story.

My heart broke for Claudia. Here she was forced to make this man into machines. To have a man that she cared deeply about and considered her friend had to be hard. Hear he was dead and now she was suppose to bring him back as a machine. a monster, a killing machine. I can not imagine how it felt to see him everyday and know that the man she once knew was gone and all that was left was a the shell of the man.

I really like Unit 77. At first reading this story I had worried that it would go over my head with a bunch of I knew nothing about or would understand. The story was written very well and made it very easy to understand.

I loved to see some human characteristic that we were starting to see in Unit 77 and his troops Sorry I am not going to get to much into that, you will just have to read the book to see.

This book does not only show some hot steamy romance but it show hope and how love can conquer all. Glad I got a chance to read.

Okay so this wasn't horrible. But it didn’t wow me. And actually now that I think on it… it wasn’t very good.
I remember the bad guy was like moustache twirling levels of comical.
I found 77/Drew to be offputtingly annoying with his…. Entire personality. Too aggressive. Too Angry for no good reason. Too.. frankly his masculinity was too fragile. Honestly if I ever met someone like that in real life, I would be so annoyed.

Whatshername…. (it’s been a few days since I read it)… her entire personality was that she was ‘old’. I don’t remember how old, but for the sake of all PNR/ER books, I’m going to assume she was minimum in her 30s, since that is when women in these books are over-the-hill. She might have *gasp* even been 40. But yup, her entire personality was that she was old.

The Hoppers/planet reminded me of bad Starship Troopers fanfiction.

Not at all sure if I will continue the series.

First impression for this series is kinda nervous because this is the first time I have to read a Cyborg story. I don't know the way it's write or how it's write and what will be my impression but... They say 'expect the unexpected'.

What I love for this story is how 77 or Drew conquer his fear and how he make his move to love himself so he can love his lover. I always wanna know how men show their love to their partner and this two author didn't disappoint me. ❤️

Not only 77 but also Doc Claudia show her love to Drew and do everything to her women power to get her man. This is not only how 77 conquer his fear but also how Doc Claudia accept him.

I love this story and I love this series.

I hope we get more of this.

Thank you very much Miss Mina Carter and Evangeline Anderson.

More stories and please continue writing them. I can't wait to read more of this hot Cyborg Men 🥰

What an exciting start to a new series! I wasn't sure if I would like this, but to my surprise I actually loved it and couldn't put it down. Looking forward to further books in this new series. We have gorgeous men with cybernetic implants who were believed to be controllable until a small group goes rogue. Their captain, Unit 77, must get the doctor he had secret feelings for prior to being changed to save one of his men. The problem is that having her around is bringing out feelings and memories that the implants had hidden previously. Can Claudia bring him back to himself? If she can, she'll have the man she's secretly had feelings for all this time. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book.

I really like this a lot

Delicious and I'm so hooked on these cyborg s. The story was a really good beginning a great new series. Drew or 77 once an elite soldier now an elite cyborg is remembering his human past and the woman he loves. Watching g Claudia and Drew work their way back to one another and seeing the personalities of the other cyborgs in this elite unit come to life was fascinating and on so sexy. I can't wait to read Rich 's story next!! It was a fun way to spend an evening and I can't wait to spend another with these more than human alpha males with hearts filled with passion and love for the women strong enough to take it.

Was different, i liked how both authors pulled it off though. In a world that is not like ours, soldiers who their (higher uppers) thought to be brain dead when the CyBRG chip was suppose to make sure they were just that soldiers no humane's to them. Well that changed when Unit 77 decided to do something the co didn't expect and not fallow orders. Also The leading lady Claudia aka doc , wasn't very happy with not knowing how the CyBRG chip worked in the first place and that she had no choice but to implant it. Just take my advice you'll possibly love this book and want to know whats next so just take the chance and READ IT :).

U-77 (formerly Captain Andrew Fischer aka/Drew) is fighting for his and his fellow cyborgs lives but is also fighting for his former human self. Why does Doctor Claudia Chambers bring back such pleasurable human memories. After all she is the one guilty of and responsible for his life changing metamorphosis. This is the first book of Ms. Anderson's new series "CyBRG Files and is my voluntary review for the ARC given to me. This harkens back to Eve Langlais' series "Cyborgs: More Than Machines" of which I've read the whole series and I'm sure will be as great a series as this; not a book to miss.

I enjoyed this immensely! It has drama, romance, danger and enough testosterone to get a girl's heart going! :) Drew, or rather Unit 77, is a cyborg who feels where he probably should not and as a result disobeys an order to kill a village of people! this leads to Unit 78 being injured and his need to get Doctor Claudia Chambers to assist in healing him! This leads to all sorts of changes to his psyche and his life, and hers.
All in all a good book to read and I look forward to more from this duo of authors! I have loved everything I've read fron Ms Anderson so far but not read much from Ms Carter but will be getting more from her!!

Coming awake

I don’t know why it has taken me so long to read this hidden gem, but I am so glad I did. These authors brought everything I love from their individual writing styles and paired them together so perfectly it is as if one author wrote the story. I love the characters! The Cybrgs are so fascinating the way they go back and forth between aware and machine. And the Doc is so endearing in the love and loss she has felt. The authors did not disappoint in the action and danger, I sure hope I never run into one of those hoppers. This book is an amazing read and I really hope the authors continue the series, I need to know what happens with the rest of the unit.

A great start to a new series without being too wordy with world building. These authors worked well together bringing us an exciting story.
Former Space Corp Marines injured in battle and considered brain dead were brought back to life as Cyborgs. Without the macheriny were they nothing more than zombies or a lot more? Dr Claudia is kidnapped by one of them, she knew him before and still had feelings for him. Were these glimpses of humanity a sign that he remembered her. OMG the Hoppers, almost as bad as imagining flying sharks. A fantastic tale of intrigue, action and romance. I loved it.

Great First Start to the Series!

We are such lucky readers! The CyBRG Files is a new series written by two of my favorite "must read" authors Mina Carter and Evangeline Anderson. The first book in the series "UNIT 77: BROKEN", is a really great start to the series. Larger than life sexy, strong warriors turned Cyborgs learn that there's more to them than fighting when they meet the loves of their lives. Get started reading this exciting series as soon as possible. It's a winner!

I recommend anything by Mina Carter. Love her books and this new series is highly entertaining. Slightly older women doctor who thinks she is not attractive and a army soldier now turned into a cyborg with his past memories interfering in his new programming and a nasty commander in need of shooting. Totally awesome book. Looking forward to finding out more about the other cyborg units in the follow on books.

The kidnap!

The rogue army man in charge had killed his men on purpose so their Doctor could make them all CyBRG soldiers under his control. Only not all had lost their minds, when told to kill a whole village of innocent civilians Unit 77 said NO, even while being tortured. Some of the men followed Unit77 their Captain. He kidnapoed the Doctor who had changed them to assist with a wounded CyBRG. Look forward to more.

This is a great start to a new series. After a mission goes wrong Dr Claudia Chambers implants the Cyborg device in Drew and his team turning them into machines. Claudia was in love with Drew and wondered if the man was still inside the machine and could he love her too? This is a great read and I would definitely recommend it.

Loved It!!!! Great job ladies.

Engaging characters. Fun, quick read. I imagine it's very hard to create an extended story-Iine like this that's not repetitive but you've done a good job adding elements to keep us looking for more. I look forward to the next book. Two of my favorite writers working together. Yay!
