A dude being best friends with a chick isn't something you see very often, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
What I would change is convincing that best friend to have no strings attached sex.
Why? Because strings always attach. And in this case, they were mine.
I fell in love with her, then I watched her walk away to pursue her happiness.
It sucks. Because she was my happiness.
I belong in the south. I’m a country boy at heart who loves animals and farm life. She thinks she belongs in a big city where she can grow her name in the world of fashion. The girl’s got skills, and if anyone can do it, it’s Affton. Only problem? That also means she ain’t got time for anything but that big city and fashion world.
When she walked away I never thought I’d be dragging her back for the reasons I do. The girl’s got a fight in her, but apparently not when it comes to him. He’s done shit to her that makes me want to dismember him slowly enough he suffers. But of course Affton doesn’t want me to have anything to do with him.
Fine. I swallow my pride. My instinct. My anger. All for her because she’s finally back where she belongs. With me.

This is the 2nd book I’ve read by this author and this one was so much better than the first one.
Childhood best friends, one wanting more from life than country living and one, perfectly content with life on a ranch. Neither one of them willing to admit their true feeling. Tommy sacrificed his feelings so that Affton could make a name for herself and become the thing she wanted most...a fashion designer with money and no ties to the country.
However, when you turn your back on your friends and family, it comes at a price....and did she forever more pay the price
I’m gonna start with the things I loved.
This book flowed better for me and was written in alternating POV, which I love.
The story was so good, as I don’t post spoilers I will leave it at this...it was heartbreaking what Affton got herself into and it was fabulous watching Tommy swoop in to make things right for her.
The road trip that Tommy, Bo, Brandt, and Chase go was good comic relief in this book that touches on such a sensitive subject. It was just what was needed.
The angst was just that...angsty.
The sex...it was hot! There’s this one scene that kinda had me a lil hot and bothered myself😏
Grant, Tommy’s best friend, is hilarious and I really want to read more of his story, he’s such a slut😂
I loved the Epilogue! An Epilogue seals the deal for me and this one was fab!
Ok the things I wasn’t so crazy about (it wasn’t bad but I struggled with this)
The prologue was too long in my opinion. I kind of got bored in the beginning.
The first few chapters were rushed to me and the author skipped years quickly without really giving you any warning. Like one paragraph was at age 21 the next at age 25...so on and so forth. Each chapter was done like this in alternating pov’s.
Once I got past this chapters it was really good.
If you are into cowboy romance this is a book for you!

Can I touch you?

When I found out this series was going to continue with Tommy and Grant I was over the moon. I mean, who doesn't like their men all inked up? And I'll admit I'm coming around to the sexy cowboy thing. It doesn't hurt these guys are tattoo artists in their spare time.
So, over the moon.
Because, let's face it, Piper Frost teased us with lines like, "I told her I'd stick it in her ass if she let Barns stick it in her pussy." and when you give me a line like that, I'm gonna want to read it. There's almost nothing better than a good ol' MFM scene.
And then I started reading about Tommy and his love for Affton.
And I read about Affton and her desire to make something of herself. She couldn't do that in their small town, so she had to leave.
This love story isn't like the others. This story had me in tears. Affton's story, her struggles, her life away from Tommy was heartbreaking.
To say these hookers blew this book out of the park is a great disservice to Piper Frost. They did so much more than hit it out of the park. This will probably go down as my most favorite Piper Frost book. And that's saying so much because these ladies put so much into their work and I know they're going to continue to give me great things.
But this book?! Gah. These two were on motherfucking point here. Laughter and tears. A hot #OneHandedRead. They had it all.

Everything about this book went straight to my heart. If you are a sensitive reader it breaks my heart to say you shouldn't read this but if you are up for it please go buy now. My emotions were all across the board and I loved how it showed the little things are the most important in life. I laughed, I got emotional, I wanted to punch a few people in the face, I fell in love, oh how could I forget the hot and bothered part. Yes!!!! The awesome duo of Piper Frost did it once again. They sure know how to suck you in and play you like a fiddle. You will not be disappointed in this one people. Love friends to lovers/almost unrequited love/second chances. You said yes to all then please do continue on. I'm sure you get where I'm going with this (smiley face/sad face/wink wink). Let's talk about who is in play in Control. I'm just going to say this you get the whole gang from Kenshaw Ranch books and a few people you must know Tommy and his bestie Affton (aka Bean) and lets not forget Grant. But I wont say much about him because well you will just have to see for yourself (wink wink..fanning self still). Be prepared for loads of laughter when the men of Kenshaw Ranch we all love get together. Any who lets get to it. Tommy is a cowboy/veterinarian/tattoo artist/goat lover. Yes you heard me right I said goat. Now if your mind went there then reverse reverse immediately people. This is not that kind of goat love book. Keep it family friendly when it comes to animals on the brain. Sexy times do happen but only between the humans (wink wink). Tommy has a heart of gold and had only had 2 things he's loved, goats (one in particular Ginny) and his bestie Affton. You will love these two together. Now I'm not going to say too much about all this because HINT HINT>>>>GO NOW READ!!! I would really hate to give it all away. okay so Affton where do I even begin with her without giving much away. You will totally get pulled in with her. You feel for her with everything she endures. She is stronger then she looks even through everything. She may be a little broken but the transformation she goes through is amazing. I love the healing power Tommy, Bo (her younger brother who if you read Surge know all about) and the rest of the gang has over her. Watching the walls fall and the reconnection with Tommy is beautiful. Oh don't get me started on some fan yourself, oh God that's hot moments. HINT HINT>>>>GO READ!!!! Those sexy times will not disappoint at all. Such and fantastic read. I'm so in love with this book. I love this series. I so can't wait for Grant. A MUST READ.

Those girls did it again! Just when I thought that Piper Frost could not possibly twist me into tighter knots, completely destroy me, then masterfully piece me back together again, they did with Control. After all, what woman doesn't secretly fantasize about a tatted-up, hardbody, hard-lovin' cowboy, especially one of the Kenshaw Ranch cowboys! And these cowboys are different from your usual, run-of-the-mill alpha males with all the answers. No, these cowboys and the women they love are flawed, make mistakes, sometimes overthink the situation, and are hot-headed, which make them soooo relatable.
Tommy has been in love with Affton forever but … they are best friends. Affton feels that she needs to leave her dusty, small, Texas hometown in order to realize her dreams of success in the fashion industry. Because Tommy wants Affton's happiness more than his own, he never tells her that he loves her and he LETS HER GO!! Kinda sounds like that knucklehead Bo from Surge (Kenshaw Ranch #2) and coincidentally, Afftons's brother. That is where the similarity ends. Tommy and Affton jokingly make a secret pact that Tommy dreams of fulfilling.
Affton returns to Texas briefly following a family tragedy and Tommy is confused by the woman who stays at his house, avoiding her family, flinching at even a hug. Secrets are revealed and new promises are made. When a new crisis threatens Affton, all our fave Kenshaw Ranch cowboys spring into action. The cross country truck scene was hilarious!!
Control has ALL the feels: humor, chagrin, heartbreak, anger, rage, agony, sadness, hope, and love. An overriding sense of love permeates this book. Even though Piper Frost gutted me, they carefully pieced my heart back together and it beats for Tommy and Affton. Cause love will win. After reading this story, I waited until the next day to write my Review. I experienced an absolute hurricane of emotions that needed time to settle and come to terms with.
Tommy is as homegrown of a cowboy as you would want. He's made a life for himself in his little hometown as a vet. He has a home, friends, a business and a good life.
His best friend, Affton, was what he wanted years ago. Her and a HEA but she had bigger plans that took her to the big city. Being her friend, her happiness came first but they entered into a pact. One Tommy held onto throughout their separation.
Years passed, life happened, choices, regrets, and pain were experienced and endured. All roads leading to home.
The authors have served up real characters and a real story. Tommy is our hero but he comes with flaws. He's solid, dependable and so very easy to fall for. His protectiveness of Affton only made him a deeper character. And Affton, a heroine in every sense of the word. She was presented to us as a woman going after her dreams. We could relate to her. She was strong and successful. And flawed and hiding hurt and shame that we completely understood and suffered with her.
Some hardcore topics were dealt with. The authors realistically gave us insight that occasionally brought me to tears. I desperately wanted to hold this couple's hands and give them my strength to push forward one more day. The supporting characters added a dimension that made me feel a part of the story.
We read of teenage plights, reality of adulthood and the resulting consequences of our choices. You'll laugh, feel anger and hurt to the point of needing revenge and tears will flow often. Retribution and redemption will be warranted.

What a roller coaster Control has been!
Reading Affton and Tommy's journey to their HEA was intense and absolutely heart breaking. I could feel every single one of their feelings during the whole story. I suffered with them, cried with them, shake from fear with them and, of course, feel every ounce of passion with them.
The story was so powerful due to the heavy topics treated in the plot and yet so absolutely inspirational, it's just blew my mind. I am particularly happy about the kind of heroine the author chose for this story. She has broken the romance model usually used for female characters and bring a more real woman into the mix. A woman who is the perfect embodiment of how strong we females can be when faced with adversity and violence.
She has also given a more realistic version of what male characters in romance look for in a woman. Tommy is not a know-it-all alpha male. He is flawed and clueless in regards of all the things that Afttin has to go through, yet he still finds a way to be her rock and safe port.
I enjoyed this book so much. I just couldn't stop reading it. It gave me a fresh look on what romance book usually are about and I couldn't ask for a more innovative look on a story.
A story that deserves to be read by everyone for sure.

This is a book that covers some very sensitive issues and may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I personally loved it. Yes it was tough to read in some parts but the overall story was brilliant.
Affton makes a decision when she is younger that changes the course of her life so dramatically that she doesn’t see any way to bounce back from it. She feels like she has no family to turn to & has burnt the bridge to the last friend she has left.
Then she gets a call that changes everything..
Tommy is a sexy cowboy who has always know he was meant for 1 woman. Only problem is that he can’t have her. He is a good natured darling that will lay down his life for those he loves.
When I volunteered to review this book I was not really sure what to expect and I was quite honestly blown away. I just loved it. At times I got frustrated with Affton and the choices she was making but I also felt a great empathy for her. It was hard not to. I really wanted her and Tommy to get their happy ending and at times it felt like it was just out of her reach. Tommy is determined and he will fight for them even when it seems she won’t .
I love, love, loved this book and it is so worth one clicking!

Gah! I just knew that Affton and Tommy were going to steal my heart. I watched the trailer for this book close to 50 times because it gave off the perfect vibes and I know I was going to get a wild ride. This author duo did not disappoint. My heart shattered for Affton. She was so bright and outgoing but sometimes things can change that. Seeing what she had to go through, watching her come back to tommy, Bo and her country roots was amazing.
Tommy was just as hot and dirty as I knew he would be. His love for her surpassed anything I had hoped. I’m going to say that just picturing him with Ginnie.... it was enough to melt my heart. There’s so much I want to just openly rant about but I can’t. Spoilers for this book would take away from not only the romance, the humor, the suspense, but also from others ability to just enjoy the ride.
If you have been following this series and love all the boys of Kenshaw ranch then you will not be disappointed with Control. This book was the perfect mixture of heartbreak, humor, steam and loyalty. Affton and Tommy jump of the pages and take root in your heart. It’s also going to leave you craving the next book. Studly cowboys with filthy mouths and naughty ways...
Seriously, how can you not one click that!?! (Shakes head)
This series has had my attention from the get go. I'm down for naughty fun with physically fit men in jeans molded to their "bounce a quarter off them" backsides. I love Stetson and a good pair of boots. Throw in the accent and southern charm (or bad boys with a filthy, filthy mouth) and I am a puddle of goo. Bless my heart! No shame but plenty of fun!
So when I saw that Tommy was getting his story, I squealed in delight. If you have read the others in the series, you know Tommy deserves this and you do too! To see him smile, is worth every second!
It's not the usual romance story of friends turned...more than friends. This story has some long lapses in...judgement and friendships. But a bond like these two have can never be completely broken, despite everything they put it through.
No details! Just know, this isn't going to be easy! Stubborn individuals (coughs "Affton") may need excessive patience for the light bulb to blink on! So proceed with caution, patience, and lots of love!

This series keeps getting better and better!
Control is Tommy and Affton's story, and my lord, it's intense! The teamwork of Piper Frost brings out the best in the pair, and their writing is seamless.
I won't include any spoilers here, but I'll give a little background on this incredible story. Tommy has loved Affton since they were young. She had big dreams of a life away from their hometown, he just dreamt of a life with her. They made a youthful pact to find each other if neither were married by 35. When they're reunited unexpectedly at 35, nothing has gone quite as they planned.
I'll leave you to read the book, but know you're in for an emotional and heartbreaking story. Wow, just wow. My heart wept for them both. But it's also uplifting to see how love, passion and happiness rise from the worst situations. I loved this story. It might be my favorite of the Kenshaw Ranch series. Each book can stand on its own, but revisiting the lives of the rest of the Kenshaw crew is so much fun!

Heartwarming, heart-wrenching friends to lovers that grabbed my feels, twirled them around, and shook me all up!! I laughed, I teared up, gripped my kindle hard, and melted right off my chair!!! It was an absolute fantastic read!!
"I think back to how she looked at me, like her world was crumbling, and I was the only one who could save her."
This group of friends are some of my favorite characters to read and I haven't been disappointed yet. One of the hottest ones so far, and also the angst was turned all the way up and left my heart pounding and my eyes bulging!! Never a dull moment when these two Authors work their magic and I thank them for providing a copy to review!!

Heartwarming, heart-wrenching friends to lovers that grabbed my feels, twirled them around, and shook me all up!! I laughed, I teared up, gripped my kindle hard, and melted right off my chair!!! It was an absolute fantastic read!!

This group of friends are some of my favorite characters to read and I haven't been disappointed yet. One of the hottest ones so far, and also the angst was turned all the way up and left my heart pounding and my eyes bulging!! Never a dull moment when these two Authors work their magic and I thank them for providing a copy to review!!

They were best friends growing up. A promise to marry if they hadn't already when they turned 35.
Affton Hart wanted out of the country girl life from a young age. She moves away as an adult to California when she ends up in an abusive marriage. She has alienated her family and friends.

This is the second book in the Kenshaw ranch series I've read. I love the relationship between Tommy and Affton. The authors did a great job with character creation, which is in my opinion the most important part of a romance novel. When reading romance I NEED to connect with the characters or their journey means nothing to me and I will bail on the book. These authors did an amazing job. I am also a bit hard to please when authors write about "heavy" subjects, such as domestic violence. I feel like a lot of times it's to fluffy like they're worried they will offend somebody if they are to real in the way they write about it. But Frost and Piper did a great job with this novel. The only thing that bothered me about this book was, I feel like the begging was stretched to much. It took to long to get started and I think it could have been shorter and not affected the storyline. I definetely recommend this book and I'm going to read the others in the series because hello! Sexy, tattooed cowboys?? YES PLEASE!!

Ooh this book...there are almost no words for this book because it was way more than amazing! The whole series has been awesome but they just keep getting better with each one and this one is at the top of my list!
Tommy n Affton have a great friendship that got dulled due to time n circumstance but it continued to flicker. Losing a friendship like theirs is never easy and can be devastating. Ever have that one person that you never get to see but every time you do, you can pick up where you left off? It’s like no time has passed. These two do just that and then some!!
This book is full of emotion; good, bad, and ugly! Affton is one tough chick but will she be tough enough to do what she has to do?! Tommy is a sweetheart that’s head over heels for his childhood friend. Will he help or hinder her will to survive? Their fight to get their friendship is one for the history books! Toss in a few hot and cocky cowboys and you’ve got a wild ride!!

Ahhhh Tommy! I’m so glad to finally get his story and Beany is perfect for him! Tommy has been one of those characters that was there but not in the forefront, just enough to make you want more. Affton is Bo’s sister and a character that was brought up mainly to taunt Bo. Going into this book, I knew it would be tough because of who the authors are but this but this but was pretty devastating to read because it touched on some real life, everyday issues and I think these authors handled it beautifully.
Tommy has been in love with his best friend Affton since he can remember but he knows he dreams live outside the country life and he lives her enough to let her follow her dreams. But they have a pact and he has that to hold onto.
Affton aka Beany, has always dreamed of life in a big city, dealing in fashion. She knows that she is leaving a part of heart behind with Tommy but nothing could prepare her for how much her life will truly change.
Now they must decide if they feel the same after all these year and what they will really do for love.

I'm a total sucker for friends to lovers romance and this book slots very nicely into thus genre.
Childhood friends who belong together but Affton always wanted more than her country town found offer whilst Tommy thrived where he was. Nothing comes easy to Affton and she pays a steep price for following her dreams.
I always love a story where we get alternating POV"s it gives a rounder story and takes a lot of the guess work away from. what the man is thinking. The reader goes on a very emotional journey with Affton it's easy to imagine myself in that difficult place of feeling trapped with no-one to turn to. Tommy was a character I really liked, he was the white knight riding to her rescue. He has not had it was and made some stupid choices when she left but when the chips are down he proves his worth.
A good well thought out emotional read.

I really loved the story of Tommy and Beany (Affton)! I am a sucker for second-chance romance, especially when it happens mid-30s or 40s. Tommy and Beany grew up as best friends, and ended up friends with benefits - both of them in love with the other person, but never talking about it. Beany wanted to thrive in the fashion industry and move out of the country and into the big city and she did just that. However, the longer she stayed away, the more distant she made herself, due to unfortunate circumstances. Finally, she and Tommy end up back in the same town, and they start to rekindle the once-lost feelings. There were some laughs, some seriousness, and some great characters again by the Piper Frost Team! If you have not started the Kenshaw Ranch Series, you definitely should! ARC given to me for an honest opinion.

I love this series!!!! I was so excited to find out it was continuing with some of the other characters. Tommy and Affton's story was more than I could have imagined.
Affton is Bo's older sister and best friends with Tommy. He's been in love with her for years, but won't hold her back from her dreams. When Affton finally leaves her southern roots for LA to make her dreams come true, she looses touch with everyone back home. 15 years later, she's back, and not by her own choice. She's been thru hell for the last 7 of the 15 years and doesn't know how to get out. Now that Tommy has her back home, he's not letting her go again.
This book had me addicted from the beginning with both Affton and Tommy's backstories, then even more after that. A 15 hour road trip with 4 hot cowboys, some Grant action and some really sexy scenes that will leave you feeling breathless. 5 stars all the way!!

I’m not sure what to think of this story and I’m not sure how many stars to give it. I liked it and I like the characters but it didn’t pull me in. I only finished the book to find out the ending which makes me sad because I love cowboys.
The story felt very detailed and took longer than what I thought. It’s great to have a back story so you get an idea of what has gone on prior to the main story.
This did not pull me in and I skipped over some parts but finishing the book was my goal.
I have not read this authors work before and I’m happy to read their other stories. I would give this story 4 stars for hot southern cowboys and that they want to protect friends and family.

Ok..who knew Tommy was so stinking swoony! He is my favorite from the Kenshaw series.
Tommy has always known Affton was the one for him but was willing to keep this to himself and let her go out into the world and live her dreams. And Affton has lived them but with a price. And here come Tommy and the rest of the gang to rescue her.
Most hilarious scene is the road trip!!!!
Affton must find the woman she was before she can truly move on with her life....but is she going to stay and be with Tommy or go back and chase her dreams again??
Tommy was so patient and loving towards Affton. Knowing he had to take it slow no matter how much he loved her. And was willing to let her make her own choices no matter what the cost to his heart.

I just binged on this whole series this week and I am so glad I did. I had some huge love for Bo, but now I think I am totally 100% Team Tommy! Oh my word that man. You really don't know that much about him in the previous books. It's like you get to see a whole other side of him and he's just so wonderful. Oh man I just want to give him and Affton a great big hug! I have a huge girl crush on her too, she's the bomb. And Grant, hello Mr. Kinky Boots! He's all kinds of fun too. This one was hands down my favorite of the series so far. This is really a great book!

Affton & Tommy were friends from the beginning. Tommy wanted to stay in his hometown but Affton wanted to leave to make something of herself!
They kept in touch for a bit then Affton stopped calling, emailing, & texting. Tommy tried to get in touch with Affton but she never responded. Her brother Bo thought she just didn't want to talk to him anymore. Thatcs not the case.
I just couldn't put this book down! The author, Piper Frost, really pulls at your heartstrings in this book.

Wow. This was an emotional read on so many levels. Definitely a slow burn due to Affton and Tommy pining for each other for so long. And the heartbreaking circumstances that it took for her to come back home.
I liked how realistic Affton’s situation was - I have been in a similar situation myself. It is difficult to see it when it happens, and by the time you figure it out - you are in too deep. Tommy is a wonderful bbf! He is hard working, caring and considerate.
If you haven’t read this writing duos’ books before, you are missing out.

Wow if your not laughing your butt off in this book your wiping your tears! Childhood friends affton which is Bo’s sister and tommy are best friends they make a promise if they aren’t married by 35 they marry each other. Tommy stays but Affton follows her career but not only that she has a secret that could come out when she comes home shocking everyone!

I can not get enough of these cowboys!! When you think it can’t get any better, it sure does!!! This book has all the feels and more!!! It may cause triggers for some, so please keep that in mind. Such a good book!! I could not put this down!! Everything about this book was great!

This Kenshaw Ranch Series just keeps getting better! Control had all the feels for me heart wrenching, pain, funny and oh so so sexy & hot!
