Susi Gott Séguret, Certified Culinary Professional and Certified Specialist of Wine, hails from the depths of Appalachia in Madison County North Carolina, but honed her culinary skills in France, where she resided for over 20 years, earning a diploma in Gastronomy and Taste from the Cordon Bleu and the Université de Reims.
Editor of 10 cookbooks and contributor to several compilations, Susi writes the oenophile column for WNC Magazine, as well as restaurant reviews for the Asheville Scene, and directs the Seasonal School of Culinary Arts with sessions in four corners of the globe: Asheville, Ithaca, Sonoma and Paris. She also orchestrates a series of ultra-elegant wine diners known as the Asheville Wine Experience.
Passionate about elements of taste and style, and how they extend from our palate into our daily lives, Susi strives to blend food, music, words and images into a tapestry for the senses, which she shares generously with all who cross her path.
Wonderful book full of nostalgia for a time long ago. The stories traverse the mountains of NC when life was simpler, colors and sounds were brighter, and the air was clear. Susan has lived a wonderful life from the hard working, humble beginnings of family and mountain kin who love her.
Sometimes you go into a book store with nothing particular in mind and come out with a gem like this. This is a delightful memoir in short chapters of a child’s outdoor life in the mountains.
