Sojourn at Elmhurst: A Poem Sequence

Rate this book
Poetry. Michael Lieberman's Frank Goldin is, by his own judgement, insane. He's a biochemist by profession, a husband, now a hospital patient, an entertainer of visions... In this brilliant book of linked poems, dualities are described and suffered as 'the soul of the poet mediates the transactions of our life on this earth' while 'caught in the disorienting whirls in which order can be glimpsed.' Science and art teach us to love the questions, as Rilke noted. Lieberman's Goldin asks and asks in a language we love, rich as his name (Hilda Raz, author of DIVINE HONORS). Michael Lieberman, author of the poetry volume A HISTORY OF THE SWEETNESS OF THE WORLD, is a research physician who chairs the Department of Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine.

I am a Houston-based poet and fiction writer and former research physician. I've published eight collections of poems, including, most recently, "Some Dark Fire, New and Selected Poems," and three novels—all with small presses. The big news is that I have just launched my first thriller, "The Nano-Thief, a Lenny D. Novel."
