Following a devastating loss in a battle with the Porfarnolarian Flock, the Battleship 78-HW9M plunges helplessly toward a gas giant planet. Only Jack, the battleship's engineer, can rig the turbospace engines to make a desperate, single-opportunity thrust out of the planet's orbit.
