I have been ditching toxic chemicals for about 4 years and using essential oils for health and wellness. There was no new to me information in this book, but did enjoy looking at the recipes. I started out making my own products, but decided that was too much work and went with a company that has been around for 25 years with the best essential oils and toxic free products.
A wonderful book filled with lots of recipes. I felt that there was just too much in this one book. It felt like she could have made 5 books out of this one. It felt like too much too fast. I would recommend taking your time with this book and just focus on one chapter at a time. Maybe take a whole month to just read and implement
There is a lot of information in this book, but I really enjoyed it. I'm slowly making the change to switch over to more natural cleaning products in my house, so appreciated the recipes for those.
I've already switched to a makeup that doesn't use 1500 ingredients most beauty companies use. I've never thought about trying to make my own beauty products, but may give it some thought. I already tried the vinegar bath the book recommended, so we will see!
If you are looking for ideas on how to incorporate a more natural lifestyle into your life, this book is for you.
This is a topic I enjoy to learn about and have been reading about for a few years, so some of the information (especially her cleaning chapter/recipes) was "old news" for me. I enjoyed "chapter 4: Take the Stress Out of Meal Planning". I thought she had some good tips to have weekly template and to figure out what my core recipes are. I personally found "Chapter 13: Clean Up Your Water Supply", a bit discouraging since we don't have a home water filter system. About a 1/3 of the book is recipes. I'm looking forward to trying elderberry syrup, lemon-cinnamon cough syrup, herbal throat spray, spicy cider immune boost, immune boosting elderberry tea and also foaming hand soap.
Ive been a follower of Katie on her websites, Pinterest , and podcasts. have been using chemical free cleaners, body products and foods for many many years. I love that this book had some new Information along with some refreshers on things I may have forgotten about. Very well written, and easy to follow format. I found a copy on amazon and just purchased it to reference back to. Great one for my personal reference collection to use once I finish yoga teacher training..
Wellness Mama 5-Step Lifestyle Detox is a handy DIY Guide filled with recipes and the science behind why certain ingredients work best for each situation. Bonus Reference section includes chapter-by-chapter source notes and links to further explore individual topics. What started as a Kindle read from the library ended with a purchase of the hardcover version to place on a shelf in my laundry room, from whence the recipes are created.
Not to my taste - too much chirpy doomsaying. Change absolutely everything in your life and you may save your family from the horrors of modern life. There’s grains of good advice there but as much noise to signal as you’d find on any random blog about similar topics.
There were a few interesting science articles on the reference list, which surprised me because their contents were mentioned with an airy hand wave of “studies have shown”.
Some great info and recipes but sooo much information. Too much for a browse-able afternoon. I think condensing the topics covered or splitting it into a few shorter books may have been easier to take in.
Great tips and advice for those seeking to go the all natural living route. From how to make natural hydrating makeup to safe cleaning home alternatives.
