When legends come to life, so do the monsters. . .
What is the Council hiding? After they divulge an ancient legend, Aiken can’t shake the feeling something’s off. No heroic outcome. No hint of what the mystical box imprisons. And what legend concludes with dire warnings of an apocalypse?
As enclave life makes demands on his time, Aiken hunts for survival instead of answers. It’s a choice he’ll regret. When fate intervenes, Aiken’s life spirals out of control.
With the legend come to life, his village under attack and no sign of reprieve, can Aiken prevail before the world ends?
Breach is an introduction to a YA fantasy series served with a twist of adventure and a hint of romance.
From the gold mines of Africa to the glorious Bay view’s from Golden Gate Bridge to the spectacular Rockies, Bronwyn is an explorer at heart who loves to solve mysteries and avidly listens to audiobooks while playing in her sandpit (aka gardening). When she’s not juggling the many balls she has in the air, she’s following her passion and writing books for young adults.
It's the first time I've read a book by this author and I absolutely loved it. Great characters, wonderful story - can't wait to read the rest in the series!
I was pleasantly surprised by the size of this prequel considering it's labeled as book 0.5. Most authors don't include as much as she did here, and for once I'm grateful. I'm torn on when to recommend reading this book. There is not much Sci-Fi in this book, which may hook people like myself to the series when they don't particularly care for the genre, but readers may understand more if they wait to read it until after book 1 or two at least. It gives insight to the initial battle between the gliders and Gaptors. I wouldn’t say it’s essential to finish the story, but is a good read nonetheless. I happened to read it after book 3 while I was waiting for the final book 4 to publish, and the alternate setting and time lapse didn't hinder me at all upon finishing and jumping into the concluding book. These characters are easy to take a liking to, and really gets you rooting for them and their cause. They also have noticeable differences than the original characters in the main story which is refreshing. I look forward to reading more of Leroux’s works in the future.
This was a much shorter story than I expected, but that didn't detract from the enjoyability of it. Nice world-building and some unexpected creatures that made for a fascinating bit of character development. Granted, there wasn't a ton of time for the characters to fully develop, but the hints and indicators of good growth beginning were certainly there. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series - it has a great start! I hope we get to see how the people "grow up" in this other world. The review is my own after receiving a free copy of the book.
I throughly enjoyed this YA fantasy. The world is well-described and the main characters are realistic and , for the most part, very likable. Breach is the prequel to Bronwyn Leroux's Destiny which I happily anticipate reading to discover what happens next. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this ebook from the author and this is my honest and freely given opinion.
For a short book, this prequel packed a big punch!
Romance, fast-paced action, dragons (okay, they’re Gaptors, not dragons...) and a small owl-like creature who speaks like Yoda. Plus a really strong community that passes down stories and myths from olden days around a fire? Yes please.
I like the characters — I really want to know more about Aiken and Ceena — and the story hooked me in and made the fantasy feel believable.

This book had a lot of surprising twists and turns! Just as the non-fantastical beginning was getting intense, BOOM, here comes the fantastical stone box with all its many implications. That part of the book went pretty fast, actually, but I appreciated the character build up before. Interesting read, as everything is written in present tense. I won’t read it again, but I’m glad I read it once!
This is an entertaining short story introducing Aiken, Ceena and an interesting world with flying creatures as well as a Yoda sounding fellow named Zareh, all part of the Destiny series. If you enjoy fantasy tales, give this one a try, it’s well worth the time invested. I received a free copy through a Book Funnel giveaway and chose to provide this review.
This book roped me in and had me chomping at the bit for the rest of the series. Even though this one is so very different from the others, it does a wonderful job of setting the stage and telling its own little story while not revealing too much of the upcoming tale.
