Do you remember your first high school crush? Would he jump into danger for you?
Mine did...
My daddy warned me to not walk down Cider Avenue after school. I thought the threat on my life was nonsense, just like the other times before... But when arms engulfed me, tugging me into a van, on that very street, I wished I had listened.
My only hope is in the motorcycle club, Night Hawks. I couldn't deny, the son of the club's president had swept me off my feet. I was drawn to the boy with rugged looks and a heart of gold.
As my world collapses into chaos, will he pull me from the clutches of my enemies or will our families be drawn into a war of blood, guns and broken promises?
She is the Sheriff’s daughter, he is the son of the local motorcycle club’s president, but I PROMISE is NOT your typical young adult forbidden romance! Tonya Coffey has taken the good girl/bad boy attraction and blurred the lines completely when Cora ignores her father’s explicit instructions and finds herself a pawn in a vicious game of revenge and her knight in shining armor comes riding up on a Harley.
Growing up is hard to do. Dante is the heir apparent to the Night Hawks motorcycle club. He isn’t an innocent teen, but he isn’t a total badass biker, either, he is just a boy with a man’s sense of honor and a heart of gold that belongs to Cora.
Tonya Coffey has embraced the voices of two teens, brought their thoughts to life and made me feel I was in their heads and hearts. She made me remember pushing the limits as a teen. When Cora pushes the limits her father has given her, she has no idea why, so armed only with her own sense of invulnerability, she pushes that boundary and finds her life in danger and her rescuer is Dante, the last person she thought she would see, after all, her father is the law.
Confused, alone and in a strange environment, Cora will learn just how much Dante means to her and how fragile the “bad boy” is. What she still doesn’t know is the “history” her father shares with the Night Hawks president. She just knows Dante is the boy she wants and he wants her, too.
Perfectly tailored to a young adult audience, there is the thrill of danger, of uncertainty of being thrust into a foreign world and of seeing there is more than meets the eye in every person.
This could be Tonya Coffey’s best creation yet! She has nailed the emotions, the turmoil and the suspense of another battle of good versus evil when innocents become pawns and heroes rise to the top! Proof that you can't judge a person by their cut, but by their heart. Truly a hidden gem that shines bright for all ages!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tonya Coffey! :)

Cora Abram’s father is the local Sheriff. He has done something to upset some powerful people. To get back at him they plan on killing Cora. Cora is warned not to come home the regular way but decides that she wants to see her boyfriend, Dante Black. She is abducted off the street and they are planning on killing her. Her only hope is Dante, the son of the local motorcycle club, the Night Hawks leader.
Dante is eighteen and has the responsibility of a man yet is still young. Both Cora is sixteen, doesn’t understand the kind of trouble she is in, and seeing how far she can break the rules. They have a sweet relationship and I really like how you can see Dante as the bad boy with a heart of gold. And Cora, I understand wanting to see how far you can bent the rules but with her history you would think that she would be more cautious.
I have loved Tonya Coffey’s A New World series and when she asked me to review I Promise I jumped at the chance although this is not my regular type of read. I’m really glad I did. This is a young adult romance and was very clean without the violence and sex being a bit too much. This is a great start to a new series and I would love to see where it goes from here.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
What are great book. I enjoyed the fact that it was mostly a "clean" book. Just a little talk about sex.
Croas mother was killed leaving a pharmacy. To get back at Coras dad for what he did someone wants Cora dead. Cross dad turns to a unlikely group for help. I won't say anything else because I don't want to spoil the book for you. I recommend you get your book today. You won't be disappointed.
I received a free copy from a librarythings give away for a honest review
I liked the story pretty well. At the beginning of the story I felt that it was running very fast but as I reached further towards the end I got the actual thrill of reading a suspense. The writing was good and I am actually happy that the fight sequels were not very cruel. They were good enough to relate with regular people's life. The story folded nicely from slow analysis of love and affection towards confidence and courage. I liked it enough to suggest the author to others.
It's not often I read books based in the world of motorcycle clubs that really and truly focus on the younger generation. Yes, I've read a few in my MC travels, but it's been a long time since I have. So, getting the chance to read this one, by an unknown author to me, and absolutely enjoy it, believe in it and the characters apart from the enjoyment of it, or rather, adding to it, I'm glad that I took the chance and read one of these styles of reads again. The romance between the characters, while seeming to be pretty obvious, took it time getting to where it needed to be, with a few little slip ups along the way, but ones that were handled with ultimately, what I always hope to get when I read, conversation. Sure, there might have been a few YA related hiccups along the way to getting that, but nothing drama wise that was overdone or overplayed in fiction. It did come across very natural for the ages and the lives that these two lead. I loved the forbidden aspect of this. Sheriff's daughter with the MC leaders kid...but again, in that regard, it didn't entirely feel forbidden for me. It felt right. Unlike a lot of the more adult set books of this nature, this one did not turn steamy, which even though it could have, I was thankful for because it not being that way, honed even more of my focus into watching both of these people grow into themselves and eventually into each other. Add in the crazy ride they were placed on throughout this, the more suspenseful angles of it, and it's another reason I'm glad it was written the way it was. My hat is off to the author for taking a chance on writing a book like this and for also putting it out there into the world so people like me could enjoy it. I loved every minute of it and I can't wait to read more from her in the future.
Cora is a 16yr old that lost her Mum when she was 10. Her Dad is the town Sheriff & she's quite protected, she tends to do as she's told by him as she doesn't like rocking the boat or upsetting him. She is crushing pretty hard on 'bad boy' Dante though. He's 18 & in his Dads Motorcycle Club, The Night Hawks. He's doing well in his final year of school and works construction every afternoon!! 🛠
Due to a threat her Dad has received, Cora was told to go home via a different route from normal. She intended to do as she was told but she'd missed seeing Dante at School. She decides to be brave & ignore her Dad's warning in favour of seeing him at work 😍 She realises pretty quickly that this one time she really should have took her Dad's warning on board!!! 😳😢
This is a coming of age romance. The story built up gradually to a satisfying ending 👍 Its a cute tale, definitely slanted towards 12/3+ age group of YA readers. I think it would be a good opening into MC Romance that obviously can get much steamier & darker in higher age categories 🌟😎

I give this book a rating of 5 stars and I highly recommend reading it. This is by far I think one of the best books written by Tonya Coffey. I was drawn right into the book from the very beginning and it was so hard to put down. It was filled with adventure and romance. I can’t wait to read book 2 in the Night Hawks Saga and learn more about Dante, Cora and the other characters.
