Sasha and Josh came to East Africa for an adventure to save their marriage. They got the adventure.

The thirty-something golden boy and golden girl investment bankers have lost their passion, for life and each other. For three months—snorkeling Zanzibar, climbing Kilimanjaro, trekking to gorillas—the trip worked its magic. But when they begin their Kenyan safari at the start of the rainy season, their trust is shattered.

They enter Maasai Mara park wondering if their marriage is over when an accident leaves them stranded and injured in the bush. The animals of the Mara are normally frightened of humans, but humans rarely walk the savanna hurt and weak. The fight for their marriage is now a fight for their life.

Okay!!!
This book is about a married couple. Their marriage is on the rock. So to rekindle their love they go on months long trip to Africa. Everything goes perfect. But later in their trip their car breakdowns, and their fellow passenger and driver dies. So husband and wife are stranded in the jungle with no one except wild animals to keep them company.

In the beginning I was pissed with Sasha (the wife). She took Josh (the husband) for granted. She acted cold towards him. He on the other hand was calm with her. His every thought showed his love for her. But as the book progress we get the real reason behind her coldness.

But having said all of that ... I did enjoy reading this story. There was so much of it that didn't quite flow right, but it didn't stop me from reading it. Of course Stranded Romance, Married couple, Adventure...are things which I enjoy. So that got my attention .
The ending was not satisfactory but bearable.

This unbearable weather just puts one in mind of something like an African safari. Sure, this was a random kindle freebie find by an unknown author and neither of those things particularly inspire confidence, but it turned out to be surprisingly good, really good, actually. Much more appealing than, say, an actual African safari. Basic plot is a young golden American yuppie couple goes on a 4 month trip culminating in the eponymous adventure to save their marriage. And then gets stranded in the wilderness following a major SNAFU. And then has to fight nature, man eaters and each other to survive. A very straight forward story, but so well done, with descriptions so detailed and vivid, it’s practically like going on a safari without the expense and danger. The main characters might have been caricatures, but ended up nicely dimensional. Even the relationship between them, something that might have easily been tedious, is well rendered and complex. The author managed to squeeze a lot in such a relatively slender volume and make it compelling and dynamic, dramatic enough for a serious read and thrilling enough to merit a genre classification. Nice start to a new reading month with this exciting adventure. Recommended.

Could Not Put It Down

This was an excellent book. I read all the stories I can find about African
Safaris, and this has just become my favorite! Interesting from the first page, it just kept getting better. It was about a topic incredibly interesting me, but one that most don't want to write about. Fast paced, I couldn't stop reading! I took extra breaks at work....I highly recommend this book but be warned that it has some scenes that some might find hard to handle. I will read this book many, many more times. Now I'm off to see what else by David Sachs I might love!

character development of the married couple was actually pretty decent. it was not super great with everyone else.

Story was good but shame it wasn’t proofread as there were some silly errors. Chapter 7 had a wildebeest being killed but that became an impala a few pages later. In another part the Frenchman, Stephane, is confused with the wife, Sasha! Errors like that spoil the story for me.

David Sachs' *Safari* is a thrilling and immersive journey that plunges readers into the heart of the African wilderness. With a masterful blend of suspense, adventure, and profound character development, Sachs weaves a narrative that is both gripping and emotionally resonant. I choose this book due to its backdrop and the author’s tales and descriptions of the African landscape did not disappoint!

The story follows a diverse group of travelers on a safari expedition, each with their own secrets and personal struggles. As they traverse the breathtaking landscapes of Africa, their paths intertwine in unexpected and sometimes perilous ways. Sachs excels in creating vivid, atmospheric scenes that transport readers right into the savannah, making the wildlife and scenery feel almost palpable.

One of the most compelling aspects of *Safari* is its rich cast of characters. Sachs delves deeply into their backstories, exploring their motivations and conflicts with a deft hand. This attention to detail makes each character's journey feel authentic and engaging, drawing readers into their experiences and rooting for their survival and growth.

However, the book's conclusion comes somewhat abruptly, leaving readers yearning for more. Just as the narrative reaches a fever pitch, the story halts, raising numerous questions about the characters' futures and the unresolved tensions among them. This sudden ending, while a testament to Sachs' ability to craft a compelling story, might leave some readers feeling unsatisfied, eager for a continuation or a deeper resolution.

Despite this abrupt finale, *Safari* remains a highly engaging read that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Sachs' ability to blend action, emotion, and vivid descriptions of the African landscape makes for a memorable adventure that stays with you long after the final page is turned. For anyone seeking a novel that combines the thrill of the wild with deeply human stories, *Safari* is a must-read.

Josh and Sasha are in Africa for a unforgettable journey , a three month safari! But what started as a great adventure is now becoming a horrible nightmare... The Jeep is stuck off-road, their guide was killed by a leopard and night is quickly falling down over Maasai Mara, should they stay on the Jeep, or walk the savanna looking for help?

The writing is good, the characters are well built and there are good suspense and thrilling moments, with very nice descriptions about Africa (I bet the author did a Safari before writing this one...) but the development of Josh and Sasha relationship is a bit "soap opera" material sometimes.

Surprised by the story but in a good way

I liked the story. At first, I found the main characters annoying. It seemed like their personal drama would ruin the story. I continued reading . Not only did like the other characters; the main characters began to grow on me. I was rooting for Sasha and her husband and was happy about the ending. I won't spoil the story by going into details. The description of the safari and the culture painted a picture that I could see in my imagination. It was a good read.

Safari: A Thriller by David Sachs

What an amazing adventure! I held my breath as I took this safari with Sasha, Josh and their companions; then found myself crying out warnings as nature and the dangerous animals of the Serengeti began to systematically test their fortitude. You're brought into their minds and fears as they face the greatest obstacles they never imagined. Phew! There were times I forgot to breathe, and my pulse was racing. Excellent read, Mr. Sachs. 👍👍👍👍👍

Thrilling Clean Read!

Needed another page to wrap up the story. A little empty with holes that it would have been nice to have filled. How quickly things can happen that put you in a seriously dangerous position. After the initial instance fear, inexperience, and bad luck make things go from bad to worse. Good job setting up the dynamics of out main couple. You become invested in their struggle for survival. Well paced and superb writing skills puts you there.

The adventure part of the story is 3-stars. But I rate the personal relationship of the couple as 2-stars just because it was rather distasteful -- I am such a prude. I was in the mood for a thriller, so found the thriller part of the safari story very satisfying. It made me NEVER want to go on an African safari!

Whew! A real breath stealer!

I haven't read anything this unpredictable in awhile- The pace is fast, while getting into the character's heads as they face heart-wrenching choices. I read the whole book in just a few hours, couldn't put it down. Not to give away the plot, it strips urbanite cool down to the realities of the wilderness. An excellent read.

Loved this book. It started out as nothing special but it didn't take long for the action to ramp up. While on a safari the jeep break downs off the regular route and the guide gets killed by a leopard. What are the hapless tourists to do. I won't give the ending away so you will need it to find out. Also the couple is trying to repair their marriage while on this trip. Are they able to? Again I don't want to spoil the book by giving everything away.

Well done and very different

I am not sure who recommended this, but I’m glad I stuck with it. It was so outside my normal reading that only the good story kept me reading the first few chapters. After that it was a free fall. Very intense probably unbelievable but very compelling.

Attention grabber

Such adventure and emotions all mixed together. Makes me think twice about going in our mountain wilderness here in Colorado.
So realistic on the state of Africa's civil diferences. A really good read all the way through.

Gruesome

A finely detailed story of survival in the African nature preserves. Not a light story at all. Very descriptive and not for those with weak stomachs. Well written with lots of descriptive prose and probably realistic. A bit dark for me.

It started out really slow and then picked up by Chapter 6, and the chapters were short. It was a rollercoaster adventure from that point on. I couldn’t put it down, it was a one day read for me. The author weaves the story in life, love and TERROR! I would read books by this author again.
