WISH, a hot new standalone from New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Deborah Bladon. My twenty-fifth birthday was just like the twenty-four before it. I stood next to my identical twin sister as we blew out the candles on our shared birthday cake. She wished for a healthy new baby to add to the family she already has with her husband. I wished for my parents to stop asking me why I wasn’t more like my twin. When I get back to Manhattan after my birthday trip, a surprise is waiting for me. A tall, gorgeous, tattooed stranger is in my apartment. Did I mention he’s naked? He says it’s not a big deal. I say it is a BIG deal, if you know what I mean. I assume he’s here to see my roommate, but apparently I’m wrong since she left town while I was away. Sebastian Wolf is my new roommate. I’m tempted to throw him out after the first day, but I agree to give him another chance. When I start to wish for more, I discover that my new roommate isn’t the man I thought he was. Author’s Although some characters from my previous books appear in WISH, you don’t have to read those to enjoy this swoon-worthy standalone romance!
Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
A sweet book with likable characters, and, above all, with decent heroine.
If not for some of my pet peeves, I mentioned them in spoiler, I would have given it 4.5 stars.
Good hero, which is a pleasant surprise in contemporary romance; and pretty cool heroine, which is an unicorn in Romancilandia.
I want to believe they start to write a new generation of women – strong, smart, confident with a touch of vulnerability and not ashamed of liking sex!
Extra thanks from me to the author – she graciously avoided slut-shaming. There were 2 scenes with OWs, who wanted the hero (his ex fb and bartender), but neither the hero nor the heroine called them names and handled both situations with respect.
Liked the heroine a lot. The girl won me, when she pretty cool put the hero into his place but not answering to his question how long it was since she had sex ->
"Don’t ask me questions that you’re not willing to answer yourself."
She dated (even if it was via dating apps, but why not?), she had casual sex, and she was direct with her words. Not many ‘ohs’ and ‘ahs’, low level on whimpering and begging.
Apart from my issue in spoiler & hero’s actions toward the end, when he left her to keep her safe *eye roll*, he was a good guy. Loved his career path he chose at the end – it touched my cold heart.
She nods softly. “You’re a good man, Sebastian.” I lean forward so my breath skirts over her forehead. “What makes you say that?” She looks up and into my eyes. “You make me feel special.”
Beautiful romance by a new to me author. There was something about this book that kept a smile on my face throughout. The plot was well paced and the MCs were to swoon over, it felt real and genuine. I have been constantly surprised by so many new authors this year who have become my favourite which means more books for me and it’s the best feeling ever. I especially liked the writing style of this author.
I got out of bed, opened my bedroom door a crack and caught sight of the black-haired, blue-eyed, tattooed sex god from last night walking shirtless around my living room talking on a cell phone. He was only wearing jeans. No shirt, no shoes, just sexiness for days.
Matilda aka Tilly comes back from home to her apartment only to get a surprise in the form of a sexy, tattooed adonis in all his naked glory, so obviously the right thing to do is well check him out and his package and if you are wondering, it was huge. She lifts her wine glass in the air. “In that case, let’s toast to last night and your photographic memory.” “Who says I have a photographic memory?” I pick up my glass. “A woman always remembers the sight of a magnificent cock.” She touches her glass against mine. “Cheers to that.” She tries to sneak past him thinking that he’s her roommate’s night guest, again it’s never that easy. Soon she learns he’s going to be her roommate for the foreseeable future, I mean who wouldn’t wanna live with a guy like him. Not only that he’s also her sister’s fiancé’s best friend, the one her sister has been trying to set her up with. Sparks start to fly.
Sebastian never imagined Matilda to be this beautiful. He knows she saw him naked with how she was avoiding his eyes and he definitely does not want her to kick him out because of it. Which then leads to some ground rules, it was cute. With him being a detective, he’s hardly ever home and now that he has a reason, he’s starting to hate his schedule.
I ask because it’s right there, dangling like a hook in front of me. “What’s your type, Matilda?” She starts to blush, her hand jumping to her chest. “What’s your type?” she counters just as her phone starts ringing next to her. I toss my head back into the sofa and close my eyes. Fuck. Just fuck.
Whenever they got to be in the same room, it was always filled with sexual tension. The way they would flirt with each other, the closeness, it all made for a sensual slow burn. I liked they got to know each other better before jumping into bed. It was funny how they never met each other until now when two of the closest people to them are engaged.
Move your leg.” His tone is rough, needy. It’s filled with raw desire. I rest my leg over his. My panties are askew, half exposing my pussy. His heavy cock is pinned between us; rigid and thick. “That’s it.” He slides a long finger inside of me. “You’re going to fuck my fingers. You’re going to use me.” “Oh God,” I pant, pure need taking over.
Sebastian had my heart when he bought Tilly her favourite dessert and told her to enjoy it all by herself. If I find a guy who makes the same gesture, I’m never letting him go. He wasn’t just compassionate but so charming and sexy. I loved his dirty mouth. Tilly was the perfect match for her with her thoughtfulness and kind heart. They were adorable together.
With little drama thrown in and equally amazing secondary characters, it made for a perfect read. It started as a light read which soon turned emotional. It had fun times, sexy times and heartfelt moments. If that’s your jam, I highly recommend this one. ♥️
Maybe it's my mood, but the hero to me was annoying. I didn't see what was so great in the hero. It was like every girl he saw wanted him..and I'm like is he thaaaat good looking.?? I mean right of the bat when he met the heroine he just finished f*cking his casual partner. And through out the book it was mentioned that he had several women who blew him and how he didn't want to be in a serious relationship because of his job(he's a cop).
I liked the fact he had a group of close friends but to me I prefer reading about strong friendships between women. In this day and age friendships between women are not potrayed in the best way. To me the heroine's friend group was pathetic, apart from her boss- (she had a cute kid). Her twin sister Frances(I forgot the name sorry) was oblivious and I get it, she is on the other side of the country but she seemed pretty shallow to me. She just wanted her sister to get married(didn't matter the guy) and even growing up it seemed like her parents like Frances more than her.
Her best friend Kate was annoying at first but seemed to be the only sane one when the H dumped her because of the job(there are more reasons) because you know the cliche the dude will break up with her to "protect" her. Kate reminded her not to fall in love and I get why, the H constantly said he didn't want to be in a relationship, so as her friend she warned her to be cautious. Unlike her older sister who didn't even tell the h that he was moving in.
To me it seemed like the guy had an active sex life but the heroine had a crappy one..even though the doorman slut shamed her to the hero. It seemed like she brought a lot of guys home but as we the reader know, the men were obviously not that great in bed unlike the hero who is sooo AMAZING! (He did not have the same problem as the h)
I get irritated when I feel like the heroine is potrayed as if without the H in her life she would have such a dreary life while his wouldnt be that affected.
So yeah my rant is over,
Even though it ends with a nice HEA, it doesn't seem like they will last.
I've read many of this author and liked them. A special character developer in rich stories and this book had that too. The story just felt like it ran out of steam and had a hurried up ending. The black roses seemed so important to the story, even to cause a break up but merited a paragraph briefly at the last chapter without meaning anything. Strange. And the epilogue was all scrambled with characters and different scenes...just a chaotic mess. And yet I think back to the beginning with so much fondness....did the publisher put pressure to hurry....don't let them do that.....lol
Matilda comes home early from visiting family out of town and finds a gorgeous naked man in her apartment but other than the fact that he is handsome & hung she just assumes it is someone that is visiting her roommate. Later she finds out that “Naked Guy” is Sebastian Wolf someone her older sister Maya has been trying to set her up with for a very long time and now he is her new roommate.
Because Maya owns Tilly’s apartment she agrees to give him a chance. Sebastian is a NYPD detective and is pretty much married to his job. He avoids relationships since he just doesn’t have time. He normally just has an “arrangement” with a female to fill his needs but nothing more.
Love these two characters and as always the supporting characters are great also.
Deborah Bladon has done it again. Maybe it is just me…..but I always completely enjoy her books. Interesting from the beginning to the end with all the twists and turns and the HOT scenes are always a huge bonus!!!!
I read this in one day. That doesn't happen often for me. Deborah Bladon has a way of weaving these sexy and interesting stories with characters you can't help but love. The men are sexy and the women are bold. And I love that you always get a glimpse of a previous couple's ongoing arc from the overlapping storylines.
Wish was no different. Sebastian and Tilly meet under odd circumstances but they make it work. There's this instant chemistry but a push and pull to resist what could be.
I really enjoyed this book. Just enough conflict and passion.
🌟4 stars 🌟 She nods softly. “You’re a good man, Sebastian.” I lean forward so my breath skirts over her forehead. “What makes you say that?” She looks up and into my eyes. “You make me feel special.”
'Wish' is a standalone romance novel by new-to-me author Deborah Bladon.
This was such a beautiful romance that had me hooked and smiling from the very beginning to the end. Both the MC's were realistically flawed and the storyline was cute and genuine. This book was really well written and I loved the authors writing. It was such a relaxing read and just what I needed right now.
Matilda is back early after a trip home and she is perplexed to see a naked man in her house, which she then pretends she didn't see, but she figures he is here to see Lisa, her roommate. The next day she finds out that the 'naked guy' was actually her new roommate, Sebastian. Who is also her sister’s fiancé’s best friend and the guy her sister is trying to set her up with.
Sebastian knows that Matilda has seen him naked. The next he confronts her about it because he definitely doesn't wanna get kicked out, which leads them to lay some ground rules, which was cute not to mention hilarious for two adults to be discussing.
I ask because it’s right there, dangling like a hook in front of me. “What’s your type, Matilda?” She starts to blush, her hand jumping to her chest. “What’s your type?” she counters just as her phone starts ringing next to her. I toss my head back into the sofa and close my eyes. Fuck. Just fuck.
Their chemistry was combustible whenever these two were in the same room and the romance was swoon-worthy. I really liked the build-up between them and appreciated that the author didn't go with the whole 'roommates-with-benefits' thing.
Can I just say that my favourite scene was when he brought her dessert to her workplace because he knew how much she liked it!!! I mean I may have swooned every time Sebastian did something caring or said something sweet to Matilda, but this...
This book had very little drama and amazing secondary characters that I liked very much. If you're looking for a light read with no OTT drama, a drool worthy romance and an amazing hero, this book is highly recommended!
Overall: 4/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Feels: 😲💗🙈💗 Tear jerker: ❌ Paranormal/Fantasy: ❌ Location: NYC Character age range: mid 20s/early 30s Lead: Matilda/Tilly Love interest(s): Sebastian HEA: ✅ ... ... . ~QD Book Info📚~ Kindle Unlimited: ❌ Audible: ❌ Series: ❌ - Stand Alone ... ... ~QD🔥~ Sex/kink type: penetrative, oral, Possible triggers: mention of shooting, mention of stalker ... ... ~Review🖋~ . You can’t go wrong with Deborah Bladon’s books. There’s always a solid story arc, the characters are interesting and well developed, the climax and resolutions are gratifying and the sex is always scorching. Honestly, if you’re ever in search of a good read, her novels are a sure thing. In this book, Sebastian is an NYPD Detective and Tilly is a vet tech in Manhattan. At first the two resist each other considering Tilly’s sister and Sebastian’s best friend are getting married. They’re worried about the repercussions of being together and it not working out. Once they’re past that though, will other secrets and emotional baggage tear them apart? Go get a copy, plant yourself by the pool or the beach and read this one cover to cover. Such a fun summer book! —
I really like the adventures of The Wolf men! Matildais a twin, her twin sister lives in California, her name is Fannie and she is married with two children. Her other older sister live in New York, A couple of miles away. Maya her sister owns the apartment that Fully rents. While Fully is away on vacation, Maya rents Matilda's other bedroom to a fellow NYPD. Maya is to be married to a police officer that is friends with Sebastian, the guy who rented the bedroom. Fully comes home that night and finds a name man in her apartment, that guy ends up being the renter. Matilda works as a Vet assistant and it taken a toll on her, she been dating men who she has been seeking out from a dating app. Anyways that's how she met Sebastian. It's a straight shoot after that, the story takes a lead. This author has done outstanding job in writing this book, can't wait to dive into the next stand a lone in this series!! ENJOY
Book Title: Wish Author: Deborah Bladon Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
First time to read from thus author and honestly I am not really familiar with her and her works but reading this story is quite good. As you can ses with the cover, for me if I will just look at the cover you would think that this book is just another story for teenagers, yes it seems like that to me but when I was reading this already I am really that wrong and that cover can deceive you. A love story between a detective and an attractive pet vet assistant. When they became roommates the story becomes this hot mess (in a bed way?) but I do wish that it could focus a bit more about each others personal story and relationship because that time when they get together all I read was their sexy time and bed scenes till most of the end part. I really want to know more about their stories individually.
Sebastian and Tilly were everything I’d hoped they would be.
“She comes fast and hard against my mouth, her cries bringing tears to the corners of my eyes.”
This was Sebastian. An NYPD Detective who never wanted a relationship because of his position on the force. The long hours and gruesome scenes consume your life and he never believed he’d have anything left to give a woman when his priority was bringing the bad guy to justice. But then Matilda happens and he wants to give her everything.
“I’ll never stop loving you Matilda. Never.”
I LOVE Deborah Bladon! She always gives us a hero who is zero BS and is unashamedly consumed by his heroine. This was another beautiful sexy read!
A nice endearing romantic story with hot sex thrown in. Sebastian is a detective dealing with homicides on a daily basis he is really good looking and has a good heart but never commits to women due to his job. Matilda or Tilly as she is known is a beautiful young woman who devotes her life to caring for animals. They end up as flat mates and the chemistry is thick between them from the start especially as she sees him in all his naked glory before she knows who he is. They very quickly develop feelings for each other and cannot keep their hands off the other but are scared to let their feelings known. as in all good love stories they end up together deeply in love and secretly married. A nice all round love story.
Bow Chicka bow bow!!!! Holy smokes, Sebastian, and Matilda the chemistry between these two characters is out of this world. I love how quickly Sebastian knew that Matilda was the one for him. It was so sweet and so romantic. I enjoyed getting to know this side of Matilda. The relationship between Matilda and Franny reminds me of my sisters relationship. I love how close the sisters are with their big sister it’s just so sweet to see sibling to absolutely love each other. I would definitely recommend this book just as much as I recommend a Hawk The other ones. Deborah is an excellent writer and she brings these characters to life in a way that you absolutely identify with them, and feel for them and respect them.
Wish is an easy, sweet read. What happens when roommates fall for one another? Tilly is a vet assistant living in New York. She was in vacation in San Francisco when unbeknownst to her, her roommate moves out and her sister, a realtor moves her fiancee 's best friend in. Tilly comes home early to find a naked man in her apartment. Sebastian Wolf is a NYPD detective and married to his job. Sebastian accepted a long time ago that he wouldnt marry, he couldn't give the time to a relationship and give everything to his job. A woman has never made him want more until Tilly.
Matilda and Sebastian meet in an awkward meeting. Quite funny, nakedness galore. I loved their story. Sebastian is a no relationships guy, he's a detective, following in his family footsteps and working in law enforcement like them. Although, is he satisfied, is he just doing what is expected of him? Tilly and Sebastian have that chemistry....This book is HOT. I loved their story. I am looking forward to more with the interconnected characters in this series. I loved all the supporting characters. Enjoyed both hero and heroine.
I would have to give this book a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. I absolutely loved everything about this book there was just one thing missing that is why I didn't give it a full 5 star rating. I really liked Tilly and Sebastain (the main characters) a lot they were the perfect couple and a match made in heaven. The book was cute and very well written the author Deborah Bladon wrote a very good book. I totally recommend this book to everyone who likes books where roomates fall in love, super hot cops like Sebastain and sweet girls likes Tilly.
I love Deborah Blandon’s books, so I have been on a binge lately reading one right after the other. While her books usually keep me from doing the whole adulting thing, this one left me feeling a little unsatisfied. The concept and storyline were great, but the actual character development and dialogue left me wanting more. It felt slightly rushed. I finished this book only because I was invested enough to need to know what happens at the end. Satisfying ending although, like the rest of the book, left me feeling underwhelmed.
I was intrigued by the twin narrative and really enjoyed the Rom-com style with mini thriller aspect thrown in
The unfolding of a love story from two roommates thrown together by Tillys older sister Maya. I enjoyed reading about the other characters their friends and work colleagues. So I'm going to have to read about the others stories I would have given a 5 star but felt the story was a little rushed and left a few loose ends at the end for me personally
Amazing, beautiful story. Matilda is a fun loving sister, who so happens to be a twin. She works, halls out her friends, someday hopes to find love, with someone honest, that she can also be friends with. She comes home from her trip early, and Sebastian is in her apt. A new roommate. Can she share an apt. With a hot guy, and vice/versa. Read on, great story, full of laughter, fun, learning to open your heart, find Love. Great story!❤️
Another loving and heart felt romance novel written by Miss Bladon. I have read every last one of her books, and they all have touched me so deeply as a fellow author. Sebastian and Tilly's story is super sexy and so sweet. The character connection in Deborah's books blend together so eloquently, and all of the characters are well-developed. Such a romantic and sweet story.
Fairly well written with an only occasional error. The characters are interesting and likable except for a last minute addition who came across as a throw in to add a bit of suspense to the story, the only part that wasn't as well done. It was too quick and the reactions of the characters didn't really fit the possible malice. I liked the book however and will read more of her books.
This time Deborah outdid herself on the story with how the tow met and kept it going. They really weren’t made for each other and try and they did through out the story, they had more set backs, and family issues. Olivia has to live up to her fathers ideas, and finds out family secrets that almost break her. As this progresses, the story ends up with Alexander being her savior.
I just finished Catch and thought it was wonderful. Thought I would read another one of your books and chose this one. Wow. Such a good book. I had been reading so so books for while and this got me out of my slump. I have down loaded another of your books and plan to read Liam's story soon. I'm glad I'm open to finding new favorite authors. You made my list.
This is an easy, sweet romance read. The storyline is well-written, has humor, steam, some drama, and good characters but I felt the characters could have been a little more defined. I've always loved Deborah's books and while I liked this one, I didn't love it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
This was a fabulous storyline with lots of hot romance and a storyline that I enjoyed so much. The characters were exceptionally well-written with lots of emotions and dialogue and I enjoyed how the author developed their romance throughout this story. This was definitely one of my favorite books this year and a five-star rating is well deserved.
This is a quick read. Good story line beyond the girl & guy fall in love but avoid telling each other blah blah blah and lots of sex like a typical romance story. I liked reading the story even if the romance wasn’t in it. Author has a great writing ability around developing the characters and holding your attention beyond the sexy time stuff
Just ok for me. I was expecting more fun and flirty instead of hot and steamy. I like a good steamy love scene but this was just constant and a little too crude for my taste. Matilda was a likable character, a little insecure but not annoyingly so. I did like the ending though, even if the story itself was a little weak.
A super cute, easy read. I absolutely loved the characters and their chemistry was so well written. The main conflict of the story, though, fell pretty flat for me and was resolved soooo quickly (like barely a chapter??) so it lost a point there for me. But regardless, this is a really fun and lighthearted romance with some great steamy scenes throughout! 4/5
So close to being 5 stars, butbut that ending! Omg why?! Now I want to know their reaction when they find out and and it's not there! I enjoyed the hell out of this story until that part. It's a very small cliffhanger and I hate cliffhangers! 4.5 Star is my vote 'cuz of it! :P
