Holly Evans is an urban fantasy author with an unhealthy fascination with blades, a deep love of hellhounds, and would love one day to wake up as a fae. When she isn't wrangling rogue characters and trying to tame her muse, she's researching shiny new ninja moves. During her spare time she fights crime and rights wrongs on the streets of County Kerry.
I never doubted that the author would write Dacian a proper sendoff since this is the last book for this series, and I was not disappointed in the least. It was hard reading the last 5% of this book... my vision was constantly blurred due to all the happy tears I was shedding. If I was forced to pick something I wish was differect about this book I would wish it was longer... though in all truth I believe it is just the right length, but I still don't want it to end. I guess I will just have to reread the previous books any and every time I start to miss him and all the other amazing people that have populated the books of this series. In this last book the author gave me everthing I could have asked for, she tied up loose ends, the mose important being Dacian and Kiern's wedding. As usual she deftly blended her usual mix of action, magic, romance and humor into a story that was pure joy to read and fun as well. I am looking forward to the authors future books in her other active series as well as the first book in her secret project I am sure she will provide hours and hours of pure bliss in the future!
Rating: 3 stars While the final book in the Ink Born series was satisfactory, I couldn’t help but feel a little bit let down. I still didn’t get all the answers that I wanted. The main conflict to the story was interesting but nothing that really grabbed my attention. The ending of the book was very romantic, and I loved seeing the culmination of Dacian’s and Keirn’s relationship play out. I just can’t help feeling that Dacian was railroaded into a life that he didn’t really want, both by Fein and by his love for Keirn. So the overall the story was good, it just didn’t really sit right with me in the end.
This readers heart is broken that this series has reached it's end. Dacian, Keirn and Vyx has gone on a five week vacation to one of Dacian's father's houses with all their animal familiars. But things aren't right in the small town. Where did the magic go? It is up to the two lovers to find out. As expected there is danger, violence, mystery magic, paranormal creatures and gentle love in the book. A great HEA comes at the end and now my life must go on without the anticipation of getting another Ink Born book to read. It's the end. How can I take it? This is a must read and even more the whole series as it's not a standalone novel.
Though I loved the series, this book did not have the magic of the others. It was way to rushed with no set villian. It was like the author was tired of the series and wanted down with it. Which is very sad since I enjoyed it and wanted to read a true last book and true happily ever after.
A nice end of the Dacian books. However I was disappointed because this book felt rushed, like it was forced to be done or something. It came out much more flat than any of the others that I've loved so much, as if it only grazed the surface.🙁
This is the last book in this series it's about a young tattoo artist who is a powerful ink magician
I think that this series was a good read but it could have been so much more first I like characters who are relatable like Dacian was . He thought of himself as being normal tattoo magician when he knew that he wasn't understandably so seeing how the magic council treated his kind he had to hide who he truly was and because of that he hid more than his identity . I really liked the other characters too they make since and they where very well flushed out . Now there were thing that should have been hint upon such as the other ambassador 's they where not covered at all unless you revisit this series and cover them . Although I thought you had plenty of room for them I mean this series was five books long and I'd like to know more about the ambassadors and what they are exactly . And another thing that bugged me Isa and Cadien there was no real closer for Dacian where that whole affair was concerned . Don't get me wrong Karien and Dancian where definitely meant to be that did nothing to the fact that Isa really hurt Dacian I get that Dancian didn't want to seem like all the other guy's that Isa dealt with but still that was fucked how Isa especially Cadien went about it Cadien really made me dislike him for that . All in all a decent series .
The problem with a truly wonderful urban fantasy series is that it will eventually come to an end. That’s the case with Cursed Ink, the fifth and final book of Holly Evans’ stupendously wonderful (how’s that for a superlative?) Ink Born series. It’s a real quandary for we readers ad we both want that final resolution and dread the end of the pleasure-rush provided by the books. At least we do get, in this book, both a superbly written tale, full of the magic, action, romance and humor we’ve come to expect and a plot that ties of all the loose ends of the series, but also the total HEA that we’ve been wanting - and yes, Dacian and Kiern do get the ending they deserve. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
I think that the author just got bored with this series
Now that I’ve finished the series, there were definitely some great parts, but overall, it was merely ok.
If Dacian and Keirn were so integral to each other for so long, why did they break up in college? From everything we know, it certainly doesn’t seem like it was Keirn who initiated the original breakup, but I have no clear idea of why.
Why was this book called ‘Cursed Ink’? There weren’t any curses involved in the story, and it is definitely a pet peeve of mine to have a title that has nothing to do with the story.
I’m also not sure why this is the last book in the series, unless the author just got bored. Nothing was ultimately resolved, Dacian is finally ready to start learning his craft, but that is normally the start of a narrative, not the end. We still don’t have any kind of firm understanding of what the ambassadors do, and what happened to the blood network ambassador? That side plot was just completely dropped.
This is supposedly the last book in the series, and frankly, it was boring.
There was a lot of personal growth for Dacian throughout the series, but if this is "The End", we'll never get to see what happens when he really hits his stride.
Keirn and Vyx are caricatures in this title. Keirn is especially, and unusually, out of character here. He's insipid in this book and I heartily resented it.
The relationship between Fein and Tyn is mentioned but skimmed over...no first hand account WHATSOEVER!
This book might as well have been an epilogue to the previous book, only with a huge chunk of missing context.
One, two, skip a few, ninety-nine, one hundred.
Sorry, but I was left feeling disappointed and disillusioned.
There was a lot of potential with this world, but I feel like it never got there. If this was supposed to be the series finale, it left SO much incomplete and it was one of the more boring books. I get moving on to other worlds, new stories to tell, but this felt like you gave up and threw together a quick "happy-enough" non-ending.
