When his mate is returned to him from death, by the gods, Destrain is thrilled, but it seems like his beloved Clove doesn’t feel the same way. Clove is distant and seems to be hiding things from him. At his wits end Destrain and Clove argue...again, and Clove leaves. Clove feels like he doesn’t belong and that things will never be the same and all he is doing is hurting Destrain, so he starts considering leaving Maddox and Destrain behind. As he wanders into the new Maddox bar, he makes a shocking discovery...their other mate. Tobias’s life has been a joyous and disastrous one all at the same time. Getting accepted into the Maddox Fire Academy is his biggest dream come true, but when he finds out that he may not get the job, even if he passes all the test, Tobias is destroyed. Going to the local bar to drink his sorrows turns out to be the luckiest day of his life and the worst day. When he runs into the super hot pixie man who turns out to be his mate things start looking up, but immediately he is arrested and now faces death for interfering with a mating. When Destrain arrives to talk to Clove and finds his mate in the arms of another man, it is the last straw and Destrain reaches his breaking point and orders Tobias arrested for crimes against a mating. Now Clove needs to find a way to get Destrain to give Tobias the pixie kiss before his pixie mate has their other mate killed, but before he can do that, Destrain disappears and accidentally takes Tobias with him. Will Clove be able to find them in time and stop Destrain from killing the cute little ferret shifter? Will Destrain be able to handle having two mates? And will Tobias ever find his happily ever after?

I liked this book even though it started a bit rough for me. I thought the three MCs were good together once they got their act together. There was no outside threat or any antagonist to speak of for the whole of the story. It mainly focused on the mating of Destrain, Clove and Tobias. Tobias’s mom was my least favorite part of the story. She was way over the top. It wasn’t until the epilogue that we got any connection to the previous story and I hope that the authors continue that thread in the next book. Overall, this was a good addition for the Eternal Flame series.

What a great SERIES.

I absolutely love this series. It just keeps getting better and better. This is Destrain and Clover and Tobias book. When Destrain lost his mate all those years ago he never expected to love again let alone get his dead mate back. When the gods returned Clover Destrain thought all would be well. Alas that's not how it goes. When Clover goes to the bar for a drink he never thought he'd find another mate. Tobias has had a crappy day so finding his mates should have been a glorious occasion. Things never go as planned. Now Tobias sits in a prison cell for interfering in a mating and Destrain and Clover ain't talking. Well its up to Tobias to save the mating.

I can only imagine what it would feel like to loose my spouse. Then, get him back. Happiness for one, may not be for the other. Communication is crucial in any relationship, but for Desit and Clove, they learn it is imperative.

A story that just touched my heart.
