The Deacon and His First Lady

Rate this book
Bentley, a deacon at Kingdom Cometh Baptist Church for many years was doing all that he could to be the man that God had called him to be. That is until he let the devil step in and detour him from his righteous path. His beautiful wife Glinda was busy working and taking care of their only son Benny. She had a heart of gold and loved her family more than anything in the world. Like many couples, Bentley and Glinda have their fair share of problems, but are they too hard to face together or are they better off being apart? When things began to get too hectic for them they decide to move in order to make a fresh start for their family. After an invitation to a friend’s church, they both feel like this is where God wants them to be. Their future is bright, and they are happier than ever. That is until Bentley becomes a deacon. All hell breaks loose, leading Glinda on a straight path to heartache. Is Glinda able to weather yet another storm or will this be the final run for this deacon and his first lady?

Good Plot

This book had a good plot but was so poorly executed. First off, it's in need of a good edit and secondly, the writing needs to be more developed. There was nothing unique about this story of a deacon with no self-control. He got caught in an affair with a church member, causing his family to uproot and start over, only to do the same thing. He takes no ownership of his fault or weakness and winds up alone. And that's about as blandly as this story was written. I finished this book only because it was such a quick read.

Bentley, has been a deacon your years, but allowed the devil to use him. Bentley was married to Glinda and they had one son; Benny. Glinda was a nurse and she had a heart of gold. Bentley and Glinda decided to move away to get a fresh start and repair their marriage. Bentley becomes a deacon at a new church and strays down the same path; cheating. Glinda decides to leave him. Good read, but had several errors throughout the book.

I think so many of these books are written the same way, it's as though a group of people get together and write the same stories and just divide it among different authors and give them a different name.
There were too many typing errors.
The deacon needs to be ashamed of himself after uprooting his family to a new place and committing the same crime over.
The book was still a good read. I would recommend it.

Typical story line. You knew it what was going to happen. Changing locations means nothing when you’re hearers not been changed by the renewing of your mind. And, what happened to “let not your food be evil spoken of” how ddI the new Pastor act like he was so on point with the $, but didn’t sense his right hand man had his hands in someone else’s cookie jar. The book needed a good edit. The books went from them telling the story to the story being told. It was sloppy, but an easy read.

One of the worst written books I've ever read!

The storytelling was so bad and with so many typos, and how the chapters ran together( some of them) I had to skip almost to the end just because I wanted to know the outcome, smh!
Sad thing about Kindle books, you won't know the bad ones until after you buy!

A Nice Read

I enjoyed reading this book. It was the typical Pastor/Deacon womanizer or in this new era sex addictive 😀. He the husband got what he deserved and his wife got what she deserved a divorce and then later a new man!! God is Good. Oh I failed to mention that this was the second time the deacon had an affair at another church!!! Oh well

Enjoyed the story line saw some errors, need a proof reader. Deacon better watch out he in the church doing his thing the Lord can see you, and the devil got you. Deacon you need Jesus, only he can help you. Glad your wife moved on with her life.

Great book

I wished that Bentley would have not been so weak. I don't think I could have been his wife but you never know what you would do if you're in that situation. I'm still working on having a forgiving heart. God is still working on me.

Hard to see past the mistakes

Good storyline, however, poorly written. The grammatical, punctuational, and flow made reading confusing. Author often mixed characters’ names up, further complicating reading it. Wouldn’t recommend.

Bentley lost it all because of his past aggressions. Glinda forgave him once and warned him there won’t be a next time. He should’ve listened.

Today's Truth

It's not everyday the truth is told about some so called Christians. This book is awesome. It's exciting, powerful yet simple and soul- stirring. A must read.

Tempting

The Deacon and His First Lady is a compelling book that allows you to see that no matter how good your try to be, evil is always present to tempt you.

Predictable

Predictable storyline with characters that needed more development. There were numerous editing issues that made the story hard to follow at times.

This book was an excellent read but I was a little shocked with the ending. It’s definitely comparable with how most situations play out today so there’s definitely some non-fiction relevance going on in today’s world:) But I’m sure you’ll enjoy just as much if not more than I did. Enjoy!!!
