“The only stock you’ll ever sell is chik’n stock.” Jabez Patrickson heard those gut-wrenching words dripping with sarcasm from his father at a tender age and knew the odds were strongly stacked against him. Not only will his father not support his goal to become a NY Stockbroker, he would stand against any chance of his succeeding. JB set his heart on his goal. But several odds stood in his way—lack of money, insufficient education, and moral support. Will he make it to the NY Stock Exchange as a stockbroker or will his dream be squashed before it begins? Will Louisville construction worker be the only job ever on his resume? Or with divine intervention, can he surmount the impossible odds to reach his dream? *** When Kennedy Stern’s childhood pastor asks her to volunteer at his new pregnancy center, she carves time out of her rigorous college schedule to promote the cause of the unborn. After receiving a disturbing call from someone far too young to carry a child, Kennedy can no longer blindly hide behind the pro-life platitudes she grew up believing. She resolves to locate the unknown girl but winds up entrenched in a mystery that grows more convoluted as it unfolds. *** Leah Townsend, a recently orphaned heiress, flees Richmond after discovering her fiancé’s plot to kill her after their wedding. She needs a safe place to hide, and finds herself accepting a newspaper marriage proposal from a God-fearing young rancher in the Montana Territory. But when an accident forces Leah to stay at the ranch for seven more months, can Gideon protect his heart from a love he doesn’t want? Has Leah really escaped the men who seek her life? *** Bobbi Molinsky had it all--a successful husband, two great boys and a job she loved-- then she opens a stray email from the newest attorney at Chuck's firm and is blindsided by the discovery of his extramarital affair. An angry confrontation leaves her with the broken remains of their eighteen-year marriage. Guided by their pastor, Chuck commits to do whatever it takes to win Bobbi back, but she is wrestling with much more than his infidelity. *** A world away in Australia, Margaret and Harold plan to spend Christmas in London with their twin daughters, Chloe and Sophie, but when Harold comes home ill from work one day, their plans are thrown into disarray. Their son, Harrison, springs a few surprises on his parents to make the day special, including one they never saw coming! This short Christmas love story will be sure to warm your hearts during the festive season and all year round. *** Michelle Baron should be reveling in her new life in Sandy Cove, Oregon. From the outside, it all looks idyllic. A newlywed settling into a quaint coastal town, her husband establishing himself as a junior partner in a law firm—what more could she want?
But a series of disturbing nightmares haunts Michelle. Her quest to understand these dreams leads her to the New World bookstore, and to a spiritual journey that will challenge her Christian heritage and her marriage.
*** Gemma Keyes is an ordinary, unexceptional young woman with a lackluster life until an overheard conversation ends her budding career—and her loyalty to an old friend puts her very existence in jeopardy. *** Callie Stillman has done everything she can to bury the memories of a tiny, baby-sized coffin. She lives life one day at a time, basking in the love of a good man and doting on her grandchildren. Until she crosses paths with a little girl who is obviously in trouble--but tries to hide it.

My review of Unplanned:

Great suspense author

Kennedy faces the dilemma of a 13 year old who is pregnant and Kennedy is on the pregnancy hotline on her very first day. Feeling inadequate but determined to do all that she can, Kennedy and Nick, the youth pastor at her church, ferret out who the anonymous girl is. But things get complicated when Kennedy is kidnapped. She cannot figure out why they are being held hostage. At the same time her heart is breaking for this young girl and all that she is facing, the she-bear raises up in Kennedy to protect the young girl. Enjoy the turns as Alana Terry keeps you in suspense to the end.

I could not get past the second chapter of the first book. It was not written well and the things that happened were ridiculous. I cannot read books that are so far fetched unless they are sci-fi or fantasy. The cop friend can have his hands full and catch the girl from falling, dodge a bullet, and handcuff the bad guy to the rail? Really?

First of all, let me urge the reader not to judge this eBook by the first novella in its table of contents. In fact, you really won't miss anything of tremendous importance if you skip the story Jabez, by Joy Ohagwu, all together. I found it extremely "preachy," and tediously distracting with the main character's self-abasement and the constant switching from the present to the past. It just did not work at all for me. Once you get past that installment, however, the rest of this book gets quite interesting.

The second story, Unplanned, by Alana Terry is better. It's still a bit awkward in some respects, but is a tale worth reading. It's about a young lady who's a missionary kid back in the United States to attend college. Despite her busy schedule, Kennedy volunteers to help a new crisis pregnancy center by answering their hotline after hours. She gets more than she bargains for, when she receives a call from a pregnant thirteen-year-old, who cuts the conversation short when her uncle comes within earshot. Kennedy probes for information and is shocked to learn the identity of the anonymous caller. Not only does someone want the girl's baby dead, but Kennedy's life is endangered, too, because she knows too much.

The third tale, The Lady and the Mountain Man, by Misty M. Beller is better still. It's a historical novel about an orphaned heiress, Leah Townsend, who flees her privileged life in Richmond, Virginia, to escape death at the hands of a greedy fiance. She responds to an ad for a mail order bride in a St. Louis paper and travels for weeks by riverboat to Montana Territory, only to learn that the man who placed the ad had been mauled by a bear not long before. She is allowed to stay with the brother and sister of her intended and faces many challenges as she learns to adapt to a new life in the wilds of the mountains. Her life is almost ended when her location is discovered and unexpected rescuers come to her aid.

Book four, Contingency, by Paula Wiseman, was a tough but compelling read. It involved the infidelity of a husband and how he and his wife rebuilt their trust and their marriage, once she found out about the affair. There were a lot of twists and turns, a lot of tears, and a lot of deep truths involved in this story. The author offered a free copy of the second eBook in her trilogy, Covenant of Trust, which I immediately devoured, as well.

The fifth tale, Out of a Dream, by Rosemary Hines, involves the story of a young woman from a non-Christian background who delves into New Age teachings. Michelle's yoga instructor recommends a spiritual bookstore after her student tells her about her disturbing dreams. Meanwhile, Michelle's husband, an atheist, is introduced to the Gospel by an old classmate, and Michelle's atheist father goes on the lam when he's accused of embezzling. Her praying grandparents play a major role in covering the family with God's protection, until everything works out.

The sixth story, True Love at Christmas, by Juliette Duncan is a rather unmemorable short story about family plans changed by an unexpected illness. A young man who has rejected God finds his way back, not only to his estranged family, but also to the Lord. Meanwhile sisters and their families come from the U.K. to Australia for a surprise visit that delights everyone.

The seventh story, Stealthy Steps, by Vikki Kestell, is a suspenseful bit of sci-fi about a young lady caught up in a web of intrigue when she is invited by an eccentric scientist to assist in his research. Gemma Keyes identifies strongly with the fictitious invisible man, when Dr. Bickel's secret lab is discovered and his research project cloaks her in stealth technology. She eludes a nosy neighbor and a power-hungry general for weeks, meanwhile, developing a friendship with a hungry neighborhood boy and a former-gang-member-turned-preacher.

The eighth and final tale is Callie, by Sharon Srock. It is also very good, involving a middle aged woman who is reluctantly led by the Lord to help a troubled little girl in her Sunday School class. Callie is still haunted by the death of a former patient at the clinic where she works and is afraid to interfere in another child's life. However, the Lord uses her, her husband and her friends to reunite a long-separated family and give two orphaned children a safe, stable home.

This free eBook is a nice sampler of stories for those of us who like to try new authors, but don't want to spend money on something we may not like. Some of the tales were so-so, but a few were real gems. It's great to get such a nice variety in one place!

Most of the stories were very good

Most of the stories were very good and very Christian oriented. However, Stealthy Steps by Vikki Kistel was very limited in dealing with Christianity. Christ was not very often mentioned, nor prayer, nor Church, nor anything dealing with Christianity. It was a very good book and had action in it that will keep a reader interested. However, if you're looking for Christianity in it, I would not recommend this book Stealthy Steps by Vickie Kistel as a Christian fiction. I would recommend it as a normal fiction book. So if you're looking to have a book that describes encourages Christ in it, most of the books in this series of different books by the various authors are excellent, but there are some that are very limited in dealing with Christianity and you begin to wonder is this even a Christian book. There was one that I actually had to skip over because it has 🤬 cursing in it and swearing and using bad words that I cannot see Jesus using.

Red by Joy Ohagwu

I loved the gripping introduction in the first few pages, to what proved to be a suspenseful mystery. Interesting premise; true-to-life in that there is surveillance everywhere. Cortexe Corp. is developing a predictive computer program which uses mathematical probability and logic to figure out if people are likely to commit a crime, so they can stop it before it happens. They also are involved in surveillance – from home systems, to corporate systems. One of their employees is dead. Is there a tie-in? Some minor grammatical errors.

This was a great buy and it introduced me to several authors that I hadn't read before. Not every book will be liked by everyone, but I would encourage you to look at each of the book blurbs first to consider whether the story may be something you would like, and please don't judge all the books by one or two that you may not particularly like. At least six of the eight book in this Anthology are seriously good stories. I reviewed each book separately so will not comment on any particular one but I did read all 8 of them.

Anthology

I enjoyed each author's story in this anthology. A couple I had already read. Most of these stories were the first in a series of books and I wanted to read all the books in each series after reading the one in here. The only reason I have this 4 rather than 5 is because I felt like it was a tease to get me to buy more books after getting into the first the lives of the characters. I don't like not knowing what happens next, but I don't have the money to buy all of them.

A reading journey

Love it love it love it, this was a really good read, all the stories were enjoyable, emotional, exciting, heart wrenching, happy and sad all at the same time. The common theme if love and forgiveness were there. More especially the love if God and how He has forgiven us, how He always make a way of escape no matter the situation. What a brilliant way to show the Father's love towards His children. Thank you all for sharing your God given talents with us.

Some good, some ok

Unfortunately, I’ve read 4 of the books included in this collection. One of the new to me books was really well written and a great story. 2 if already read were 5 star worthy as well. The others, though, were not on the same level. A great way to sample these authors and see who you’d like to read more of.

This is Collection of eight different Christian novels. Most are very good; however, many of them are book one of a series and you will need to buy the others in order to find out how the story ends. One of the books was rather futuristic and a little "out there".

Good mix of authors.

Sharon Srock needs to use ‘breaks’ between characters and plot thoughts. Had to re-read each time she switched because they were not clearly delineated. Otherwise, great story!

Heart Warming

I like the different ways the characters had to deal with their issues. It was a very uplifting read, because sometimes in the toughest situations when can lose faith and it may be difficult to regain. These are strong characters that I’d love to have as Friends.

I got bored and impatient with the first story. Bible verses didn't tie to the story. I just gave up, not worth my time.

Inspired-A Christian Fiction Anthology is a collection of stories by eight authors--several familiar to me and the others are new. I have read two of the stories so far and am looking forward to finishing this anthology.
Callie, by Sharon Srock, is the last in this collection and first in her Women of Valley View series. Callie has a heart for helping people who are hurting and as such, she herself has been profoundly wounded. Iris and Sam are two sisters that have been abandoned and are struggling to make it on their own. Callie, reluctantly following God's leading, steps in to help the girls and in doing so, opens herself up to the possibility of more pain and anguish. Are the girls on the run? Are they safe? What if interference in their precariously constructed life, brings it all crashing down around them? Can they, Callie and the girls both, let go of the past and open their hearts to where God wants to take them? The author has created characters that are real, that tug on the heartstrings. Callie is a poignant story of redemption and restoration, not only for the girls but for Callie herself.
The second book in this collection that I read is Unplanned by Alana Terry. This is a fascinating story that will keep readers turning the pages. With several twists and turns to the plot and likable, realistic characters, this book is a keeper. About halfway through, I was totally blindsided by what happened. It was a "wow, I certainly did not see that coming" moment! As the suspenseful and well-designed action scenes unfold Terry brings out the reality of the pro-life vs. abortion issue. Christian values and faith are key throughout the book.
The first book in this collection is Red, The New Rulebook by Joy Ohagwu. It is the beginning of a series of Christian suspense books. Ruby is on what she thought was a usual delivery/pick up job and it turned into her being framed for murder. The first person she knows to call for help is her lifelong friend Robert, a police officer. And there begins the high tension drama of their attempt at outrunning those who set her up in the first place. Who is behind the murder? Why was Ruby chosen? Has she lost everything because of The New Rulebook? Throughout the drama and suspense, the author has woven a strong thread of faith in Jesus Christ and the change He can make in one's life. infused throughout is also the tension of the friendship, perhaps soon to be romance, of Ruby and Robert. Can Ruby see beyond the friendship to a closer relationship or will her fears hold her back?
A great start to what looks to be a great collection of books.
