Someone is killing the Black Widow's enemies and leaving her calling card.
The only problem?
She's dead. <--this is after Stevil killed her during all that Secret Empire stuff.
This comic is now several years old, so I don't think it's a spoiler to tell you this is what you need to read in order to learn how they brought Black Widow back to life.
Her two very different exes, Bucky & Clint, go on a lovable odd couple road trip to find out what's happening. I really enjoyed them. Their interactions were pretty much the highlight of the story for me.
And that's mainly because I thought the actual story was kind of ass. Like, the concept of the whole Red Room Resurrection stuff was cool but the execution of it was weird and disjointed.
I just really didn't care for Rosenberg's version of Natasha.
To each his own with that, though.
Definitely worth a read, at any rate.

This was SO fucking funny.
So take Hawkeye, who we all love after Factions run. Take Winter Solider, a badass warrior and right hand man to Steve. Put them together since SOMEONE is setting breadcrumbs up to lead to them. After the events of Secret Empire they believe Black Widow is still alive even after she died. This gives reason for the two ex-lovers of Natasha to go on a hunt to find out if she's really alive. This begins a quest of hilarious moments the next five issues.
Good: Almost everything. Loved the humor, it was so perfect. I'd watch a buddy show on Disney + if they had characters like this. They were cracking me up non-stop. The fights were great the art when in motion is really badass. I also thought the Natasha side of things was both really well told and kind of sad.
Bad: The art sometimes when faces come into play looks awful.
Overall, fantastic. This is one of the best mini-series ever. I want more. WHY IS THERE NOT MORE!? A 4.5 out of 5.

This was a blast. Hawkeye and Winter Soldier make a fantastic buddy cop type story. Their chemistry is terrific. Clint is the doofy bungler while Bucky is the stoic straight man. They are so damn funny together. They are both looking into some deaths that are very reminiscent of how Black Widow killed people. But Black Widow died in Secret Empire. Is she back or is this a copycat?

This story is possibly the only good thing to come about as a result of Nick Spencer’s incredibly offensive and self-serving “Secret Empire”.
*You will not have needed to read “Secret Empire” to read Tales of Suspense. Only 2 major events would be necessary to know about. *
I’m rating Tales of Suspense as 5 stars because I really loved the story. It was a fun, “buddy comedy” with just the right touch of drama, mystery and suspense. The author wrote the characters with accuracy. He brought out the dimensions of their personality. And the chemistry between all 3 main characters is perfect.
The art is lazy but (mostly) tolerable. There are a couple times that it seems the artist just scribbled something and gave up.

Full of character chemistry and team-up action, the disaster duo of Clint and Bucky has succeeded yet again. The dialogue works wonders, but is sadly backed by poor visuals at times. It's the titular duo who get to shine the most, with Rosenberg's Natasha being rather hit or miss. A buddy cop adventure interlaced with spy goodness, it's got quips, surprises and twists that you certainly won't see coming. P.S. read this first for the best experience.

Okay, this was fun, I love the Clint/Bucky team-up and the quest for Natasha. I, like I've said before, am so lost with the current marvel events/storylines, so I had no idea about Black Widow's... ya know, demise. But this gives you enough backstory to bring you up to speed and enjoy this comic.
The relationship between the characters, Clint annoying the shit out of Bucky and Bucky low-key boring him/making him uncomfortable was the best thing out if this and tbh the selling point of this story, and it does deliver some amazing moments/lines(if you're on tumblr, I bet you've seen the "naturally greasy" panel) Plus, the whole Red Room plotline was actually entertaining, although maybe the weakest part, specially with how quickly everything was resolved.
That being said, maybe because I do love Clint so much, I felt like he got the short end of the stick and the ending wasn't satisfying enough. It sets up for more, but I have no idea if the story continues with another title. Dunno, it was never a 5 star book for me, but the ending really disappointing me.

I don’t think I could fangirl over this book any harder. Clint and Bucky are fantastic together and when you throw in killer ballerinas and a bear well shit son you got me.

Dammit, Tumblr, I don't even go here! D'oh. Yeah, I saw some snippets of this on Tumblr and was intrigued by the dynamic between Hawkeye and Bucky. Considering 99% of what I know about the Avengers is from Tumblr, it was pretty good. :D

This was a kind of fun story set in the wake of the unfortunate and un-fun Secret Empire arc. It's a Hawkeye & Bucky buddy team-up story, as they search for the recently deceased Black Widow. I thought the plot was a little uneven, with too much silliness and joking as a counterpoint to a whole lot of death and violence. (Lots of cloning around, too, yuck-yuck.) I thought the Hawkeye portrayal was too silly, but Bucky was good. There are some genuinely funny bits, such as Ursa Major, and Clint telling Bucky that he's the second most famous sidekick of all time, next to Robin. Who's Robin?, Bucky wonders. There are letters from Natasha for each guy that conclude the book, and those are especially well done. The art is quite good for the most part, though there are a few pages that look too sparse and sloppy like they were due the next morning. I wouldn't recommend it for kids, but it's a nice read.

September 19, 2018Matthew Rosenberg finally brings the smarts and snark that animate his creator-owned stuff to his Marvel work, giving us a buddy comedy with a body count as two of the Black Widow's exes try to find out whether she's really dead, and if so, who's framing her for a series of assassinations. For the first few issues the plot is just an excuse for Clint's shambolic tendencies and Bucky's intensity to spark off each other, and that's absolutely fine with me; comics about conspiracies and resurrections are ten a penny, but ones which feel like Shane Black films are far harder to come by. Thereafter, it's perhaps a little too engaged in heavy lifting to maintain the same charm – but it does have a talking bear, and I'll forgive a lot for that.

Witty and fast-paced, a fun adventure series that definitely flips the script on the traditional "damsel in distress" storyline we often get from comics. I'm definitely curious as to how that ending may play out in later books! More Ursa Major for sure. My only real complaint is that the artwork steadily fell the entire series and it just wasn't my favorite part, which is a real bummer.

Black Widow was killed by Captain America (kind of). Now some killings are happening that resemble her style, and ex-boyfriends Hawkeye and Winter Soldier are trying to track her down as they navigate a tangled web of Red Room conspiracies. It's a fun team-up! Bucky and Clint make a terrible duo, which makes them a fantastic duo especially with Rosenberg's sense of humour about the situation. They respect each other, they hate each other, they kind of disrespect each other, but they work well together in the end. Travel Foreman and Rachelle Rosenberg do some fantastic art, but not without a few hiccups that can really throw you off. Most of the time, though, it's grim and tense and the action is tight. There are some fantastic layouts, especially when we get to the back half and seeing more of the Red Room stuff itself, and it's never too dark that Rosenberg's jokes feel out of place. It's a fun story featuring a trio of characters with complicated and ever-changing relationships and status quos, and it finds a good way to blend all of it together and have it actually work.

4.5 stars rounded up because this was so good. I enjoyed Secret Empire and it has been fun reading these books that came out of it. Like Punisher War Machine and now this. Bucky and Clint are thinking Black Widow is still alive and begin the quest to find out if she really is. Some nice twists and turns with some cool spy shit and we make it to a real satisfying ending. The dynamic between Hawkeye and Winter Soldier is just simply amazing. So damn funny watching these two. Plus loved Ursa Major being in this. Highly recommend checking this one out.

Me ha encantado este cómic; el guión es ingenioso, entretenido, mantiene muy bien el ritmo y es divertido. El dibujo, excelente. Es genial cuando personajes a los que amas encuentran guionistas y artistas que también les aman, y que no defraudan tus expectativas ni los traicionan a ellos. La pareja rollo "colegas a la fuerza" que forman Ojo de Halcón y Soldado de Invierno, tan opuesta, funciona de maravilla y es gracias a la magia de los autores. Supongo que se le pueden poner peros, claro. Sin embargo para mí es un cinco estrellas, muy recomendable.
Vengo de llevarme un chasco enorme con el tratamiento a mi querido John Constantine en DC Comics.
A ver si aprenden de Marvel. YA.
Por otro lado, tanto si habéis visto la serie basada en ella como si no, os recomiendo la novela "Carbono Alterado" de
Richard Morgan. Porque viene a cuento mencionarlo sería y es un minispoiler.

A tak naprawdę to 2.5/5. Nie podobało mi się jak Bucky był pisany. Historia była okej. Oprawa graficzna była okropna. Podobała mi się natomiast okładka piątego numeru.

So apparently Natasha, the Black Widow, is dead. But then ex Hydra agents start showing up dead, with Natasha's calling card. Hawkeye and the Winter Soldier were both tracking the mysterious killer and decide to team up to find out what exactly is happening. Also they are both her ex boyfriends because that's not awkward.
I guess I like Hawkeye ever since the show 💀 and I've always loved the Winter Soldier so I was already set up to win here tbh. I thought it would annoy me that it's a story about Black Widow but from her ex's POV but nah this really was her story and it was so well done!!
Clint and Bucky are seriously SO fucking funny together it was downright perfection. Clint is a goofy jokester and Bucky is broody superspy and they played off each other so well.
The ending was also perfect, god I loved it all. My winterwidow heart is so happy rn.
This also included something else we got robbed of in the MCU: Bucky in a ponytail. 🥵🥵

Fun and serious in a fresh way. Has a good time worrying about how these two stay paired up with each other, not with how to do comics the “right” way.
The internal monologue is the least irritating “tell don’t show” I’ve seen in comics in a while, with a few gems including Bucky’s internal monologue, “[Hawkguy] could be one of the best but instead he was the leader of the Malibu Beach Avengers or whatever”.
Rosenberg and Foreman create a crazy dynamic for these two dipshits - well, Hawkguy gets all the hilarious dipshit moves, and Bucky plays stoic and actually likes the guy. Same diff.

Oh, Hawkeye. One of my favorite jackasses. And he pairs so perfectly with brooding super-spy Bucky. Not to mention plenty of Black Widow in the mix as well. This was a blast. Funny, fast-paced, and not so steeped in lore that a new reader would be lost. The art was serviceable, and the writing a perfect blend of light and dark. I give this two enthusiastic finger-guns.

This has been on my reading list forever. So thankful for the digital library for having so many graphic novels. I’m living my best life reading them.

Probably something I’ll buy as a hard copy so I can have it on hand whenever I want.
