The perfect family. The perfect life. The Stone family have been known to be the backbone of the church, yet perfection comes at a costly price. Maxine Stone is a dutiful wife and first lady. She’s always done what’s expected of remain modest, humble, subservient, and devoted, but after almost two decades of playing the role, she wants more out of her life. She wants deep love and passion, but her Pastor husband wants no part of anything beyond what they have. He wants her to continue to play the role and keep her fanciful ideas to herself. However, everything isn’t how it appears with this power couple. Will the secrets they’ve kept destroy everything they have worked hard to build together?
There were quite a few grammatical errors, which had me re-reading some sentences. However, overall, I enjoyed the book. I really felt sorry for Maxine. I don't know how she's been able to put up with Vernon as long as she has. He really needs to take a look in the mirror and get it together. I didn't realize there were so many "parts" to the book. I'm not sure if I want to invest in all of them.
Book started off good and it is very interesting, story line is good. You can tell were this is going. I just hated that it came to an end so quick, not enough story for me, but I enjoyed it so far.
