This was an interesting and easy read. I learned some useful terminology and a few techniques that probably are common sense to others. I'll likely seek out some more comprehensive writing on the topic.
Easy to read. interesting strategies on this book. However, I find these strategies more suitable for long term investors, people whose main income don’t depend on the stock market.
Why? Because you need a lot of patient and a large stake(money) in order to profit form these stock aristocrats.
Useful book for those seeking to make the money grow in a long period. I wanna say +3 years.
The book was a great value itself, and due to the straight forward approach to follow a very simple, yet effective strategy, this book will be paying “dividends” for my family for decades to come!
Easy to read with some nice additional unexpected information included.
Dividend investing is now my new retirement plant thanks to this book. I feel like I understand dividends and how to pick the right dividend stocks 1000% more after reading this. Thank you once again Matthew for taking the time to write such informative and life-changing books!
This is a solid basic book on dividend-paying stocks! I learned some things, but I’m reminded that there’s a lot more to learn about investing. I liked the writing style and organization of this book.
This book is quite simple to understand. Among all the stock's investment, high dividend stock's investment is probably the only easy and low risk way to get returns. Timing makes all the difference.
What unfortunate timing for this book! It is a very short book, and great read, but it trumpets Robinhood as a great company for investors. The author could not have predicted what Robinhood would actually do/become - so I will try to not fault him for that.
Otherwise, I liked the investing advice. I have been primarily a growth stock investor. That said, Kratter makes me want to create some more "cash machines" to throw off money in the future. Another thing I really liked about this book is that he makes a stand. He gives advice on what to do and says exactly what you should do. Too many books hem and haw without giving actual advice. Thus, I really liked that he states explicitly what targets should be as well as how to handle "Dividend Aristocrats." Refreshing.
Nevertheless, I cannot look entirely past the simplicity of the book nor the Robinhood fiasco contained within the pages. Since I enjoyed it, I'll give 4 stars. However, I was waffling between 3&4....
A bit dated and simplistic, but still provides a few “evergreen” dividend investing principles, nevertheless. Sure, all the information can be found for free online. But that’s true of any investment book. Buying a short book like this for a mere $2.99 is a matter of convenience.
Granted, as with most of Matthew Kratter’s books, this one uses large fonts, 1.5 line spacing, and one sentence paragraphs. Which is both annoying and unnecessary.
Mr. Kratter also promises to provide you with a list of his favorite dividend stocks, but the link he provides is broken. True, he does provide his framework for selecting dividend stocks. But why mention a list of favorite stocks in the first place if you’re not going to provide it? All that said, its a decent little introduction to Dividend Investing.
It's a good introduction to dividends if you have never heard of them or only know a little.
Mr. Kratter also gives some scenarios of how dividend investing is something even the little guy can get into. He shares a story about a janitor that had over $8 million dollars worth or Coca Cola stocj by just consistently investing.
He also gives a list of some good stocks to start out with.
While he does not go into extreme detail of varied investments strategies or how to spot everything in the market, it still remains a great introduction.
Plus it is small enough where it is not a bother to read again.
Would let Mr. Kratter tell me how to invest my money again.
The book was very short, it could have been a blog post or a series of small blog posts. The info can be found in other books and online. The author didn't talk about how long it takes for dividends to snowball, that investors will receive small amounts for the first decade or even longer before they can start living off their dividends. He didn't compare dividend investing with other strategies like growth investing. He said anyone can achieve a 60+% yield from a company like Warren Buffet did with Coca-Cola but it's unlikely due to how high most established companies' valuations and stock prices are at. That said, the book would quickly teach a novice the basics of dividend investing.
This is an excellent book for beginners, and seasoned investors as a quick reference. The story of the janitor who died a multimillionaire without ever changing jobs is compelling and calms the nerves of those who compare the stock market to a gambling casino. They fear to jump in lest they lose all their money. Mathew Kratter says just hang on in there. You'll always come out a winner. You may just need to tweak a little here and there as long as you are well diversified. However, I wonder what happened to the money the janitor accumulated and whether it made his life any easier!
This book is great for beginners, but also gives much sound advice that would be helpful to anyone wanting to begin taking in some passive earnings--money you don't have to work for every day. I love the idea of buying a stock and then just sitting back and watching the dividends come to me! This book would be especially helpful to the young investor and would make a perfect graduation present.
This book helps the reader to discover small details on investing that can have big returns on personal understanding of the stock market. It is packed with little areas of interest that may be new to the reader that at times seem within easy reach of trying out and accomplishing stock market goals. A captivating read I could hardly put the book down to take a break, thank you M. R Kratter for your motivational book.
I am glad I read more about this important topic. Too many are not taught or learn the real value of investing to grow their money. We work too hard when we should be growing the money invested to have a more comfortable and happier life while sharing the joy with others.
I believe the author achieves his objective in keeping thing easy and basic. However it might be too basic and too short. There is much more to discuss about dividend investing and markets in general. If you have Kindle Unlimited this is a good "investment", I would suggest pay more than ¢50 for this asset.
A good intro into why any long term investor should examine a quality divided strategy. Solid writing all around, Matt does a great job in his book planting the right investment mentality in your head. You'll need to do a lot more research, but this is a great way to get started.
Too basic to be useful and probably dangerous for beginners. The author advocates finding "dividend aristocrat" stocks with a long history of increasing dividends, which is fine, but offers zero advice on how to distinguish between them. No discussion of debt, nothing on payout ratios and only a cursory mention of valuation.
This book is a short book with a lot of information. I’m sure like most of us we don’t have enough time to sit down and read through a very thick book. This is a straight forward book with information you’re looking for in starting a dividend portfolio.
Easy to read and understand for the non-finance savvy individuals and want to understand some basic principles of dividend stocks investment. It's 2021 and the world has changed drastically in the last 18+ months. So do your due diligence and invest confidently.
I would recommend for those who want to start their stock journey with something easy to read and grasp( it’s very simple and informative) However, what I really like about this book, is that it’s very short and very easy to flip through- thoughts are well delivered and easily understand. Plus, You could you it’s as the dictionary of stock’s for beginners.
This is not really a book, each sentence is its own paragraph and it has much less information than a simple Google search or a Wikipedia article. I'm not even sure it would be useful for the utter novice. Just read a couple of articles on dividend aristocrats and you will gather everything presented here.
I downloaded an investing app and too nervous to start till I read this book. Now every paycheck I plan on investing. I only wish I have read this in my younger years. I have past this book one to all my close friends and family. My son has already started! ( Age 19!).
Great book to explain the ins and outs of dividend investing. Explains the characteristics of individual stocks and index funds to invest in. This is essentially what every employee with a 401k or IRA is doing through their employer with the exception of they can't touch their money. Why not invest it yourself and have a say in what is happening with your money?
I have been buying dividend stocks for a while and have read other books. This strengthened what I already know and added some new information. This book is packed with information and no fluff. Great read.
This is a great book. It doesn’t go deep into buying and selling strategies and it gives the exact amount of info you need to get started. I hope we are going into a bear market;)
I heard about dividends a while ago, but didn't have a great understanding of them. This book helped me understand dividends a little more. I am so glad I read it. Today will be the beginning of my dividend life.
Easy to read and understand with a simple strategy for identifying reliable dividend paying stocks to buy and hold for long-term income generation. Not too much depth on stock picking or evaluation.
