What if your childhood protector returned to your life with a pack of trouble on his heels?

Reclusive artist Karina Redfeather is quietly making a name for herself in the northern Minnesota woods when her life is upended by the arrival of her childhood friend, Waterwolf Simon desRosiers. On his trail are three of the possible Four Bloodlines, with Vertigo, King of the Firewolves, seeking a fresh pet and vigilante werewolf chaser Adam Hunter out for revenge.

Karina's only hope lies in the possible existence of the Chimerae, a legendary werewolf bloodline so obscure that the others hardly believe it exists.

Not one will escape unscathed. And you ... Have you seen the sun?

unique werewolf romp

This was a vivid and action-packed tale. The narrative was slightly hard for me to follow at times (but some might like the suspense of the "delayed backstory reveal"). The plot moved quickly and there was reasonably complex character development (especially given the relative brevity of the story).

My favorite part was the somewhat unique take on "werewolf lore" that seemed to avoid most of the common tropes.

A highly recommended read for avid paranormal / thriller fans.

This book had a really interesting and unique world of werewolves! There are four bloodlines named after the elements: water, earth, fire and air. The plot was decently intriguing with multiple interwoven plot lines for each of the main characters motivated by love, loyalty, and revenge. Unfortunately, the narration style of this book was a bit too confusing and choppy for me to follow along easily. I also would have loved to get more world building about the four bloodlines of werewolves and to see stronger relationships develop in detail between the characters. Overall, still a fairly enjoyable quick read with some pretty cool werewolves!

I received a copy for review via NetGalley all opinions are my own.

There were times when things happened a little bit too quickly, and I was hoping for a little bit more history with the characters as well as maybe a little bit more development between some characters; and I was slightly confused at first to two particular characters' alluded relationship; though it was cleared up eventually, but other than that, the story was enjoyable and I got a copy in exchange for an honest review.
