Earth’s Mightiest Mortal is unleashed once more in another massive compilation of one-shots featuring the work of Peter David, Roger Stern, Greg Pak, Fred Van Lente, and Jeff Parker.

An interesting commonality in some of the stories is that they feature the Hulk going against the same characters at different points in his life, and highlight his inward nobility and heroism, which may be the basis for their inclusion. During the “Planet Hulk” storyline, Peter David wrote a flashback tale which had the Hulk battling the Champions, a team consisting of Hercules, the Angel, Iceman, Ghost Rider, Darkstar, and the Black Widow. Roger Stern’s INCREDIBLE HULK ANNUAL #7, also reprinted here, actually teams the Hulk with Iceman and the Angel against Master Mold; and Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente join forces on a tale set during the “Crossroads” Saga in which the Hulk once again encounters Hercules, this time on Mount Olympus, and even forms a kinship with some Titans, with predictably tragic consequences.

A highlight is another Roger Stern-written one-shot set in the present day which features the return of a former supporting character, Fred Sloan, who travels around interviewing various people who’ve had experiences with the Hulk, for the purpose of writing a book that will help the world understand the Jade Giant better. Many of those he interviewed were background characters, easily glossed over in the originals themselves, but providing some unique, sometimes humorous, insight into how people perceive the Hulk.

HULK: RAGING THUNDER, Jeff Parker’s contribution, is the only one that seems a bit out of place. Featuring Thundra and the debut of her “daughter” with the Hulk, Lyra the All-New Savage She-Hulk, this one, while finely crafted, would be more at home in the HULK: BROKEN WORLDS trade which built on the idea of presenting some of the Hulk’s strangest incarnations and offshoot family members together in a single volume.

A solid piece of standalone stories featuring top-notch talent, the GIANT SIZE-HULK hardcover edition will sit comfortably on the shelves of devoted Hulk fans. Smashtastic.

I bought the hardcover of this, but couldn't find it on goodreads. so...
I guess this would a good example of why I don't read super-hero based graphic novels anymore.
Don't get me wrong, as a teen, the Hulk was one of my favorite comic-book characters. When I saw this book, I thought I'd give it a shot for old-time's sake. Yeah, guess I pretty much shot myself in the foot on this one.
We get a hodge-podge of stories taken from different eras of the Hulk. I can still remember these stories as something I'd loved as a teen... sometimes the memory of something is better left unnexplored.
So yeah, no more stories I've already read over 30 years ago, stick with the new stuff from now on.

Yeah, like that's gonna happen.

A hardcover compilation of Giant-Sized issues of Hulk from over the years including direct tie-ins to then upcoming plotlines and crossovers. Included here is the first appearance of Lyra - The Savage She-Hulk, a retconned interaction between the Champions and the Jade Giant, as well as classic issues featuring the X-Men and Thundra in the Fantastic Four.

This is the Giant-Size book of Hulk crap. It's four one-shots and 2 reprints, one of which is about the Fantastic Four instead of the Hulk. The one shots are uninteresting and better off being left uncollected.
