Providence follows immediately after the events of Chickadee and concludes the Runaway Series in fine style.
The murder of Doctor Munroe is soon discovered and Sheriff Morgan begins his investigation. Anticipating his arrival at the homestead, Lizbet attempts to create the semblance of normality, though Clara is still greatly affected by what has occurred.
Meanwhile, Joshua heads north to seek out Benedict Farm in the hope of discovering Nettie’s whereabouts and settling his past. Samuel has taken Lily to the Austins’ farm for her own safety, but her stay promises to be less than hospitable.
Buster Cuddy, friend to the doctor and one of the central figures in the town, is determined that the perpetrators of Munroe’s murder will pay with their lives. Together with his sons, he is prepared to flout the law, believing he has every right to take matters into his own hands.
Will the doom that Munroe predicted befall those living at the homestead? Read Providence and discover Joshua, Clara and Lizbet’s fate as the closing events of their story unfold in the exciting finale to the Runaway Series.

Starting out slow in the beginning, I wasn't sure if I would pick it up again.
I decided that I would read it all in one night which is what I did. This story had me flipping pages faster than usual. I felt the need to finally get to the end of the story knowing what I already knew that Clara ,her momma and Joshua would all be just fine towards the end of this fabulous series. I love reading these types of books and learning about the history of our country before and after the Civil War .
Truly enjoyed this final book. It summarized the south as only one who has been there can relate. Loved each individual & their contribution to the storyline. Was surprised when the doll "came alive". I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the south and civil war era.
Awww I was really enjoying the Runaway series. We could have more. Samuel and Clara married raising a family. Letting the awful grandfather go away or let him continue to be a racist character ...what fun ge was a trip and a vacation. Lizbet and Harris could marry and be grandparents. Joshua the Freeman could find a love and Liky could continue to grow.
Loved the booked but have become a profound fan of Edwin Page. All the series have touched my soul and enabled me to experience all my emotions......tears, fears and more
