Terrific book, published during a time when Big Media was watching the Balkans conflicts -- early 1990's.

Twenty years on, the selections might be very different -- some photos here that are printed small on the page yet would be first-round choices for the cover, today.

Pair with Koudelka for an intense ride.

An exceptional book filled to the brim with amazing, living photographs. Economopoulos's photos are masterfully composed, full of visual poetry and emotionally impactful. You could learn so much about the art form just by looking at them.
