The Doomsday Warrior series was a post-apocalyptic men's adventure series that ran for nineteen volumes from 1984 - 1991. The first four books were collaborations between Jan Stacy and Ryder Syvertsen (hence the pseudonym), and the other fifteen were written by Syverstsen alone. The series begins a hundred years or so in the future, after Russia has defeated the US and now occupies it. Ted Rockson is the leader of a secret loose resistance consortium. This sixteenth volume doesn't pay much attention to the previous continuity or characters. It does follow the formulaic pattern which ruled the series, however. The previous book, American Ultimatum, ended with a clutch of cliffhangers, such as Ted is presumed dead and the team is stranded in Egypt. This one just starts with no explanation; Ted is out hunting near their home base, Century City, with his pal Detroit. After they fight some mutant lizards, a messenger arrives saying that the city of Pattonville, where the president and his daughter Kim live, has fallen in a military coup. Ted and Kim were soulmates up until volume nine or so, and then the author forgot about her. Ted and Rona are still heavily involved, but she just hangs out at home these days instead of going on missions. Anyway, General Hanover has usurped President Langford's position and is holding Kim hostage so Rock saddles up his team and heads off to correct the situation. They fall into a volcano, and Ted has sex with Shi'sa, and opposes King Sulphur, leader of the mutant volcano men, and then Ted thinks maybe that didn't happen and maybe he was daydreaming but then they get to Pattonville and the fight is on. Another big battle and we're ready for volume sixteen... It's a very patriotic series, typical for the Zebra men's adventure line in the '80s, with non-stop action, cartoon plots, and very conservative political views. It started as a fun series (if you didn't expect too much) but got sillier and sillier as time went on.

I picked up the audio book for this on a trip to my buddy's house and it was awesome. I'm a little sad I came into it so far into the series but I'm looking forward to starting them. Over the top action packed and epic.
