Rate this book
Some discoveries are meant to remain buried.

Helena Eskildson has spent her life chasing the secrets of the ancient world. As an archaeologist, she trusts evidence, history, and what can be uncovered beneath layers of time.

But when Helena joins an archaeological expedition to Denmark, the discoveries waiting beneath the ruins of Roskilde are far more dangerous than anything she could have imagined.

Ancient rune stones. A forgotten Viking legend. A mysterious portal. And a destiny that reaches back to the gods themselves.

As unexplained deaths begin to haunt the expedition, Helena realizes someone is willing to kill to uncover the secrets hidden beneath the earth. Yet the greatest danger may not be human.

Something ancient is awakening.

With her sister Gabby, her friend Scott, and the enigmatic Viking warrior Aella at her side, Helena must confront a truth that threatens everything she believes about history—and herself.

Because the Valkyries were never merely legends.

And Helena may have been chosen for a reason.

The gods have awakened. The question is whether humanity will survive them.

Who doesnt love Valkyrie's and vikings? This was an awesome story. After the prologue it did slow a little bit then it picked up again. I ended up really liking it. I would like more to it though so hopefully more will come soon! Characters were well liked especially even from the beginning Aella was a favorite. Helena of course Gabby and Scott. A few things are still unanswered and I assume those will be revealed in other book(s). Well done!

A very well-executed thriller that reminded me of Dan Brown’s work. It had a fantastic last act, and memorable and relatable characters.
I’m looking forward to Book Two.

Vikings, valkyries, runes, everything you could ask for mixed in with mystery, suspense and danger! I started off not sure where this storyline was heading, fully expecting to follow a brothers search for his siblings. Instead, the characters quickly changed and captured my attention, all the while still wondering about missing people as well as the fated impending doom. To be clear, this author did exactly what was necessary to hook in a reader and leave me wanting more. Kudos on a story well told! More is needed though, which is why this is just book 1. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
