Since I LOVED Dark Cathedral, I just had to read the next (and last) volume of the series.

Pagan Moon starts of where Dark Cathedral left us, and we are back to see how the dynamic between, Morgan, Beth and Eirian progresses.
The book focuses more on Eirian, who grows up very quickly into a young woman, and starts having dreams about a monster that haunts her at night, and tries to make people aware of paganism as a religion in its own right... not without making enemies.

Giving away too much would ruin the entire experience for you, so I'll just say this: The Dark Cathedral Duology is an absolute must-read! I can only recommend the series. I know the books are hard to find, but there is an EXCELLENT audiobook available on Audible narrated by Nicholas Camm. Please give it a try!!

Not quite 4 stars. More like 3.75. I liked it, but in my opinion the first book is better.

It's starts off directly from the end of the first book and covers the next 5 years (which means a lot is squashed and several years are skipped over with only a mention). Eirian, Beth's daughter from the first book, is growing up and appears on some talk shows in America, explaining about he pagan religion and the power of the goddess and makes some powerful enemies who want her silenced, whatever it takes. That's the basic plot - there's a shaman entity and ghosts as well, but I don't want to say too much here.

Squeamish readers beware - there's a lot of sex (some of it underage, which made me feel a little uncomfortable) and some graphic violence - not that Freda Warrington is gratuitous, but she's not afraid of giving us the nasty details when necessary.

Freda Warrington is a great writer with a wonderful rich prose, so although I wasn't over keen on the plot of this book, it is very well written. If the plot sounds appealing, then you will probably like this book, but I advise you to read Dark Cathedral first, as knowledge of the previous events is necessary.

An enjoyable sequel, but not by any means a necessary one.

Pagan Moon is a fantastic book, working as a stand alone or as a sequel to the highly sort after (and also out of print) Dark Cahedral

Pagan Moon picks up where dark Cathedral left off, following Bethia, Eirian and Morgan as they try to build a life together dispite their troubles

*******************************************************
************ Spoiler Alert - Dark Cathedral ***********
*******************************************************

(Morgan is Bethia's half uncle and Eirian is a gifted and magickal child who has visions and out of body experiences, Eirian killed Bethia's brother who had kidnapped her and a little boy and taken them into his cult, and Bethia's mum is accused of the murder, whilst Bethia finds out that her dad is gay)

********************
********************
********************

The story mostly follows Eirian (the first book followed Bethia) as she turns from child to young adult and has to fight another foe, this time in the shape of an evangelical TV priest.

I can't say much more without spoiling the book for you but all I will say is that I couldn't put it down and felt a sence of sadness when I had finished reading it.

My only wish is that the story continued in another book but as far as I am aware there are no others in this series.

Read it, you wont regret it!
