To Be One is the story of one white man's battle with his own racism. He gets very real about his relationships with Blacks. Everyone of us has racist attitudes even though sometimes we don't want to admit it. But his battle is a battle that we all should endeavor to win. I can see myself and changes I need to make and overcome.

I read this book a long time ago when I first learned that I was racist. It was instrumental in my transformation to understanding racism and my part in it, I mean it helped to get me where I am but it was only one of many books, people, epiphanies. The new one, HEALING RACISM IN AMERICA, is much better. It is not a five star book but anyone studying this topic is a five star person sor that is my rating of you!
