March 10, 2017The primary source material here is comprehensive, citing almost every reference to the mastiffs and hounds brought with the Spaniards to conquer the New World. That said, the work is a piece of its time, 1983. Indians are savages. Dogs were thrown upon humans to kill and feast. Spaniards had sex with dogs, and punished other zoophiliacs by throwing the dogs upon the miscreants! If you don't think death by mauling is sentimental and romantic, read this!
