Heidi is about an orphan girl who has to go live with her grandfather in a small hut in the Swiss mountains. I loved this book because the main character Heidi is impossible to not fall in love with. She always puts someone else's needs before hers and she is kind to everyone she meets. My favorite part is when she comes back to her grandfather and her new friend Clara gets to stay with her for the whole spring. One thing that I didn't like is that it's a retold version and It would've been nice if it had a little more detail In it. This book was one of the best books I ever read because the story was beautiful and simply amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read stories full of emotion because this book will surely touch your heart.

What a delightful read! How have I never read this before? I’m going to add it to our family read-aloud list.
Heidi is a ray of sunshine! She always puts others’ needs before her own and makes friends every where she goes. She’s such a sweet, adventurous little girl. Her friendship with Clara was so sweet. Grandfather is kind, caring, and gentle. I loved his relationship with Heidi and his willingness to do anything for her. His tender care and encouragement of Clara was amazing. I LOVED the faith elements of the story.

“Do you say your prayers at night?” “No,”said Heidi. “Think how good it would be to tell everything to God. You can ask Him for the help you need.” “May I tell Him everything?” Heidi asked with a hopeful look. “Yes, everything,” Grandmamma answered.

Mi único problema fueron esas partes en las que los personajes se ponen muy religiosos, fuera de ellas creo que es un libro infantil muy infravalorado, sobre todo al tratar temas como la amistad y la conexión de los seres humanos con la naturaleza, esto último es algo que en pocos libros infantiles se puede encontrar. Sin duda es uno de los libros más dulces qué he leído en mi vida.

Maggie and I have decided we must reread this selection to better recall but the main things we noted, after having been long-time fans of the temple movie, are that clara goes to the mountain to heal, that rottenmeier is not the evil villainess but rather just a mean lady and detie is more the wicked one as she did not care to look after heidi anymore. We like the images in this version and its color centerfold but should be noted in Spyris original version it is more the simple story of a mountain girl and lacks in the build-up of villain and rescue, for this reason I liked it more and maggie says "I thought Clara was very sad but she was very very happy to be with Heidi in the mountains but Peter does not like Clara (also different from the film) and Rotenmeier is totally nice in this one because she didnt do all the mean things she did in the movie so she is alot nicer". liked the original story, will reread.

I am between 2 and 3 stars so I am going to give this book 2.5 stars. I liked it but did have some issues.

Read this to my girls and they were both begging me to read another chapter. Good topics for discussion with little ones. The version we read had some illustrations, but not too many. Followed up with watching the Shirley Temple "Heidi".

I like this book because it has a lot of detail and excitement. Heidi goes to her grandfather, they think he's a bad and grumpy person but Heidi loves him and that's her favorite home.
She has a lot of adventures and meets a lot of friends.

A wonderful story of a little girl who helps afriend who can;t walk begin again. She also is reunited with her grandfather who lives up on the mountain away from almost everyone. Quite a love story on several levels. Heidi by Louis May Alcott.
